Afternoon Everyone
Thanks Mel for the link to Ivor Dewdney Pasties. I was sure they had been shut down ,so it s great to see they are still in business. £35 for 8 is quite expensive but just to get the real thing it might be worth it :-D.

Frank, I hope you have had the stitches out now.I'm sure you will feel much more comfortable. They start to pull after a while don't they.Maybe you may be able to get a better night tonight.
I hope poor Harvey is over the food poisoning episode now. Was anyone else affected ?

Ann I think it is a lovely idea to have your old engagement ring remodelled :-DIf you have it done before we meet up you must bring it with you :-DI would love ot see it.

I don't quite know where today has gone. It's just flashed by :-S. I haven't got dinner in yet.
Rubbish TV tonight. Just blooming football and nothing much else. Thats not good for a Friday night :-S...There is a channel called W that has programmes I would like ,crime and medical things but Chris won't be wanting that on. Maybe he will have an early night :-D He went to have his hair cut this morning .I think he feels better for having that done.
I went to TK Max this morning and got a couple little things for his Birthday.

I started this post about an hour and a half ago !!!!! Gareths Mum rang for a catch up and then I had to get things out of the washing machine and into the dryer and then get the Chicken Tray Bake sorted.
I will post this now before I have any more interruptions :-D

Afternoon All,

More dreariness outside, but there was a lovely rainbow over the hill and quarry earlier when I went to my beading friends. Pity I didn't have my camera with me. I am going to dig out my first engagement ring for next week. One of the ladies knows a good jeweller and I would like it to be remodelled! It has a lovely cornflower blue sapphire centrestone which I unfortunately cut with a diamond saw when I was sharpening tungsten carbide saws for a hosiery machine building firm many years ago when working for dad. It is such a shame to have these things and them just sit in a drawer though, so I am hoping he can facet it so the damage is gone and then set it with it's circle of diamonds in a silver or platinum ring as I haven't worn gold for years.

How are your crosses coming on Mel? Those pasties do sound good but I'd better stop thinking about them! lol.:-) We don't always eat out on Fridays now as places get packed around here with a lot of the office workers meeting up for an end of week drink or lunch. So today we had fish in a cheese sauce with swede, green beans, carrot and asparagus and OH had mashed potato with his.

Just you be extra careful moving around Frank! Hopefully those stitches will be out in the next half hour and you will be able to breathe more easily too. Poor Harvey having food poisoning. I wonder what it was he ate?

Gill it makes you wonder what next with the builder! I wonder if he has a website and reviews!!! It sounds like he will be just the same with the rest of the job.

I remember he had to wear a heart monitor now Mandy as I had to do the same for 24 hours one.years ago and then had to wait a couple of weeks for an appointment for the results. Hopefully he will be ok.

Afternoon all

It started off bright and cheery with the sun now it's gone dull and we've had a bit of rain. The roofers have taken the top part of the chimney off as it was falling down, now it needs rebuilding. They are doing the flat roof on the extension today as it was sunny. Tomorrow is suppose to be a very wet day so they'll no doubt make a start on putting up the new tiles now it's all been felted and battened.

I bet you can't wait to have your stitches out Frank then you'll be able to have a decent nights sleep. Sorry to hear about Harvey I hope he's better soon. Shame you didn't get hold of the walking frame in the end. It's a good idea to have your boiler serviced especially with the bad weather we've had recently and it's suppose to be going cold again after the weekend.

Frank Report 25 Jan 2019 14:31

Afternoon all, Thanks for all your good wishes, regarding Ros and I. It's so much appreciated and Ros sends her love and THANKS.

I have skimmed over the posts and see that you are alright and keeping well. Pleased to see that.

I had another restless night again last night. Eos got my medicines for me at 6.00 am this morning as I was in a lot of pain with my ribs. It certainly settled them down, and allowed me to get a couple of hours sleep. We were both up by 7.30, drinking our tea.

Have had a very lazy/restful day so far today. I am looking forward to seeing the nurse at 4.10 pm to see the back of these stitches. Hopefully I will loose the discomfort they are giving me, and allow me to turn over in bed. I get fed up lying on my left side all the time.

It sounds like that Chimney might end up through the roof Gill. What on earth are they doing. ??

Jane you are a naughty girl eating chocolate and not wanting your dinner.

I agree with you Mandy and Jane, I cringe overtime I hear that Danny Dyer speak. I just can't bare to hear him. :-P :-P :-P

Neither of us seem to have any appetite. I don't know what Ros has planned for food tonight. I just hope it's not to heavy and filling, as it will just be wasted.

The chap didn't bring the walking frame, so I am managing to cope with my sticks. I don't think I will bother the Red Cross for one, as I am sure I will be able to get around on my sticks.

I have the plumber coming in the morning to service the boiler. He should have done it last Oct/Nov. but never got round to it.

Simon, Harvey and Conrad are calling every morning and evening to check up on us, which is nice. Harvey has had FOOD POISONING and has beed laid up for two days in bed. He rang last night around 10.00 pm. He was just home from work, trying to catch and make up for the time lost. He says he has so many things to do. I expect thats the trouble, working for yourself.

I think I will have a COT and a wipe over, before going to see the nurse.

Jane, Those Cornish Pasties sound a "PROPER JOB" I assume they would freeze alright, so would be there as and when you fancy one. Let me know if you get any, I might even try them myself. ;-) ;-) ;-)

See you all latter. xxxx

Morning all,

Not a nice day today. Its about the same as yesterday dull and gloomy and fine rain in the air.

We used to have some lovely winter days when I was younger. I can remember going to Chelsea in sunshine in January and it lasted most of the day then not just an hour in the morning lik eit does now.

I must download the pics I took of the Long Tailed Tits then I can send them to you.

Its a wonder the bungalow next to you is still standing Gill. Whatever will they do next? :-0

I went up for F & C tonight and it was once again very nice. I am going to do lamb chops tomorrow with my stuffed potatoes and Tenderstream brocc tips. I was going to do them tonight but oh mentioned F & C which I think I said in a previous post!!

I thought of something when I was out feeding the chickens and I can't member what it was now. I do hope I can remember as it will be worrying me now not knowing what it was.

FRIDAY AGAIN tomorrow. They do seem to be coming around very quickly lately as I have said before.

Still got this runny nose and cough. This is the first night I have aloud oh to give me my goodnight kisses. Yes kisses I get three each night!!

I wondered why I was thirsty this afternoon. I have just found my mug on the desk half full of my drink.

Frank I hope you get a good sleep tonight and no throwing your pillow about please?

Thanks Jane for the recipe, the picture looks lovely, I'm looking forward to making it.

Yes, I feel really sorry for the new neighbours and all the problems they are likely to have after they've moved in. All the builders are really good at their jobs, it's the boss telling them to do things in the wrong order like taking off roof tiles then leaving an open gap so the rain goes inside the building, then of course starting the work on the inside when the rain was going through the roof, bearing in mind the ceilings had already been taken down and the electrics gone in before the plasterers turned up. All the jobs are being done in the wrong order, the workmen are fed up of telling him but he doesn't listen. I'm sure the roofers will tell us what's going on with the chimney tomorrow when they come around for their cuppa.

Evening all,

Another cold day and very frosty ,we didn't go out shopping until late morning by that time the frost had gone .

Jane i have tried to reply to your email but i'm having a bit of trouble with sending emails .
Thanks for sending the recipe i'll give it a try next week.
I didn't watch the Danny Dyers programme as his voice grates on me a bit ,we like Death in Paradise that's on tonight they are nice little stories .

Frank i'm glad your both doing ok between you you seem to be managing ,i'm sure you'll feel more comfortable when you get the stitches out .

Oh Gill what ever is going on next door to you i can see it being a long time before the neighbours will be moving in ,do they come very often to see how the work is going ?

Ann it was sons FIL and he had had stroke ,he had to wear a heart monitor for 24 hours but i don't know if he's had the results from that yet .

Annx Report 24 Jan 2019 19:27

Evening All,

I expected a frost again this morning but there was nothing. The hairdresser took 2 and a quarter hours to do my hair! She was telling me all about her trip to Bali, Australia and Singapore She's going this weekend. One night she is staying in one of those space pod things so that should be interesting! Then she was telling me about all the False Widow spiders that are in her little shed and showed me pictures of them on her phone!! They have gone 'vegan' with their hair colouring (I thought she was winding me up at first) so my lowlights are not quite the same as usual. I think she needs to go a bit darker next time.

I'm glad we've heard from you Frank and that you are ok and that Ros is doing so well. Between you you seem to be managing, but be careful till you get the walker and don't overdo things, either of you. I didn't realise they'd stitched you up, but it will be good to get rid of them now and you will be more comfortable then.Your bad night was probably because of the worries you had, so you should sleep better tonight.

I've just done some little round carnellian? red stud earrings and nearly stuck my finger to them wwith the strong glue!! I'd better give them a good drying time as well.......don't want them permanently stuck to my ears!! :-0

I had a long wait for my prescription at the chemist. The lady stood next to me said she'd already waited 35 minutes. I finally got to sit on one of the two chairs, but I wasn't there long before an older lady hanging on to a trolley shopper came in and looked in pain so I gave her my seat, as the other person sitting next to me didn't offer. Then OH came in as he'd waited so long in the car, but I gave him the evil eye and he kept quiet!! lol. :-D

Gill, roofing is a noisy business when the tiles are going on, but it will soon be done then hopefully all the rest of the work will be inside. I had a day off from sorting yesterday, but we took all I had done to the charity shop in the next village. When OH took the box of books they said they didn't want them as they had no room!! As there are 3 charity shops in a row he left them with one of the others. He said there was a huge space where they put stuff behind the shop, so I said he should have asked for the clothes back as well and taken those to the other shop with the books.

I meant to ask you how your son's (was it FIL or MIL?) is doing now Mandy?

That was a nice surprise after 9 years Mel. You never know what will happen with FH though. OH loves a pastie too. After footie on a Saturday he will often get himself a pastie with baked beans. :-) We've had Waxwings round here with photos in the paper but I never seem to see them.

I must try and keep my posts shorter as they seem to be getting longer.

Afternoon All

Good to see you posting today Frank.I think we were all holding breaths just in case something might have been wrong. Ros seems to have made a remarkable recovery ,which is fantastic. I just hope she doesn't try and do too much too soon though.
You certainly had one heck of a night on Tuesday !!!!.I wonder who you were chucking that pillow at :-D. Is this chap still going to bring you the walker?

All the snow has just about gone now and the ground is all soggy. The mud on our road is just a mess even with a Road Cleaner Vehicle going up and down all day. To be honest I don't think it does an awful lot of good. Our cars are in such a state. Well mine and James's are. Chris's car has been in beng fixed .He got it back this afternoon and all is good again.

Ann I expect you are thrilled you won't have to climb those stairs at the Dentists for another 9 months :-D. Fingers crossed your iffy tooth behaves itself until then.

Gill I will send you that recipe in a minute. I just took a pick of it from the magazine. I hope you will be able to see it properly. Let me know if not and I will do it again. (just sent). Honestly it was delicious :-D. I might make another and freeze some.

I WANT A CORNISH PASTY. I keep thinking about them now :-S

Mandy I like your puzzle. The first thing I spotted was the old fashioned Mincer that screws on the edge of the worktop or table. :-D. I used to try and turn the handle on Mums .I would have to stand on a chair to do it but it was always so stiff and the screw would keep getting loose so it would keep slipping :-S. I think I just used to end up putting the left over Roast Beef in it and Mum would turn the handle. That was Cottage Pie on Monday :-D

I dont think I shall be having much to eat tonight. I had Cheese on toast for lunch and then about 4 I had a Galaxy Lolly salted caramel....I feel a bit sick now (so I shouldnt have had that) I might have some Porrage later. I have a couple of Jacket Spuds in the oven for Chris.

I had to give up on Danny Dyers programme last night. He irritated me soooooo much with his daft silly comments all the time. I was looking forward to it too.
Back in Time for School again tonight :-D This is one programme I do enjoy. I caught up with the last programme this morning. So many things brought back memories from my schooldays . I think I started school in 1958.I was the youngest and smallest in my year. Little Titch :-S

Pleased to see that both you and Ros are okay Frank, it's nice that you are looking out for each other. We have the same problem with the Starlings here to, they can be quite bossy with each other and as for the other little birds, they don't get a look in until the Starlings have finished.

It sounds like you've had a to do with the birds today to Mel.

I don't know what's going on with the chimney next door but for some reason they took the rendering off it and now they've had to put wood around it to stop it falling down. I feel so sorry for the new neighbours, at this rate they're going to be left with all sorts of problems. OH said they may have to take some of the chimney down and rebuild it. We're going to ask the roofers tomorrow when they come around for their morning cuppa.

Nice quiet day for both of us today. I enjoyed my shower. and Ros's hair looks very nice after being washed and rolled. !!!

Ros has hung some coconut shells in the front bush and the birds have been going potty getting at them. The smaller birds were getting the bits that fellow the ground. The starlings are little pigs, fighting to get in the best position on the shells.

Sheep @@@@ pie and various Veg. tonight. There is a bit of plum and cherry crumble over from last night. So will have that for afters.

Afternoon all,

Glad everything is ok for both of you Frank. We were all getting worried but now we see you are both ok and Ros is coming along nicely too.

Its that fine rain in the air here today the stuff that gets everywhere and you don't realize how wet you are till you come in and take your coat off.

I had a contact this morning about a relly. This girl had contacted me 9 years ago! She is friends with a daughter of a great uncle who moved to Scotland and lived there. His children were born in woodford but I have never been able to contact any of them so that was a nice surprise.

I hasve added to the soup today and got some nice rolls out of the freezer and we also have smoked Mackeral. Oh surgested F & C for tonight as we hav'nt had them for a few weeks now and we only had toasted cheese sarnies last night and then a Christmas pud and cream.

Frank Report 24 Jan 2019 12:48

Morning all, So sorry for not posting yesterday.

Ros got home about 6.30 pm. Carolyn went to collect her. BLESS HER. Two nurses said she had two stents fitted, but when the Doctor came he said. NO STENTS as the artery wouldn't open enough, so opened up her arm a bit higher up and put in the balloons. She is very sore and badly bruised up her arm.

I tried to order a Take away for Tuesday, but would you believe they all CLOSE on Tuesdays. Someone could make a killing if they opened. Anyway I ended up doing Bacon and beans on toast, which saw us through.

I had a terrible night Tuesday, I threw my pillow across the room, was shouting and kinging off like a mad thing. Ros told me all this Wednesday morning. Fortunately she was able to calm me down, and I went off to sleep. I spent most of the day in bed yesterday.

The chap who was going to bring the walking frame, rang to say the weather was so bad where he was, that he wouldn't attempt going out. So I am managing with my sticks. Ros is in a very good place at the moment, she is out of pain and doing so many things for both of us.

This morning she covered my dressing and I had a shower. She helped to dry me off and helped me get dressed. She has washed her hair, and is putting in her rollers, then will have the dryer going for an hour or so. I really can't believe how well she is. She is complaining about her back and leg pain. (SCIATICA ) but apart from that she is wonderful.

All the family are ringing morning and evening, and Jan has offered to come up from Devon to look after us, we are managing to help each other, with what ever needs doing.

One of the Choir has offered to collect her tonight, if she would like to get out for a couple of hours. She will decide later, what she will do. I am happy for her to go, I will be O.K. sitting watching T.V. on my own.

I rang the doctors yesterday to see if a nurse can take my stitches out, as they are very uncomfortable to sit and lay. I have an appointment for 4.10 pm tomorrow, I will get Pam to take me up, I don't want Ros trying to drive, after her being told she must not drive for 10 days.

Once again I haven't read the posts, just skimmed over them.

THANK YOU ALL for your concerns. It means a lot at times like this. Bless you all. xxxx

Morning all

it's a bit warmer here today and the hail is finally starting to melt. It's still quiet white out there though and look so pretty.

Your stew sounds like it was a great success Jane if you'd been asked to make more. If you don't mind me asking could I have the recipe please?

What type of soup did you make Mel? I remember going to Cornwall years ago and having a pastie, they were delicious. Unfortunately the ones I buy here aren't a patch on the Cornish ones.

It sounds like you had a bit of a struggle getting up those stairs at the dentist Ann. I hope your knees are okay.

I wonder if Frank will post today. I hope they are both okay.

I managed to get all my housework done yesterday. I'm still not in the mood to start the sorting that needs doing though, I think it's because it's so cold and dull it makes you want to sit in front of the fire and keep warm. The roofers are back so I'll probably make them a cup of tea in an hour or so. At least it's a bit warmer for them. We had a good downpour of rain last night which has melted some of the ice so it shouldn't be so slippy on the roof today. They are hoping to have the roof felt finished today then they can make a start on putting the new tiles on tomorrow. That won't please Sandra as they are put up with nails which makes lots of noise, so she'll be woken up early again.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 23 Jan 2019 22:45

Jane no I don't make the pasties. These we had today were Morrisons own baked ones which are quite good. The shop in Holsworthy make the best pasties around here.

Morrisons extra large ones are £2.50 each or two ordinary pasties are in a paper bag for £3 so we had those today. Sometimes I buy oh an extra large one and I have a smaller one with just steak in it.
