Afternoon to you all, So Mr and Mrs are with you Jane hope you enjoy your LUNCH it sounds like that's just up me street.
Weather here is a lot of nothing. No rain, snow, wind, just nothing. I haven't been outside, so don't know if it's cold.
Had another iffy night, lots of discomfort when I tried to turn. So spent a lot of the night lying awake on my back, or left hand side. I didn't feel Ros get up, and she had to wake me at 10.00 am. Not so much wake me up, but her perfume drifted up my nose, and woke me ;-) ;-) ;-).
I thought I would ask the Dr for a walking frame, they didn't have one, but gave me a number to call. After going from pillar to post for 20 minutes, I gave up and went onto the Blisworth Notice Board to see if anyone had one I could borrow. A woman rang to say she had one that belonged to her grand parents. It has wheels and a seat with BRAKES. It is really not ideal for indoors, but I couldn't refuse it. It may well come in handy when I want to walk round the block. But not yet.
No Mel. Ros didn't CLING FILM my dressing gown to me. just the wound dressing. lol lol.
I bet Sandra will be praying for more snow. xxx Lets hope she gets some, so she can build her snowman.
Ros has gone to meet Martine this morning, to get what we need for the weekend, and will bring lunch back with her. She will be in charge of cooking the Sunday Roast, the first time in many years. So I hope she hasn't forgot how too.
Ros has just walked in, so will sign off and speak to you all later. xxx

Morning All A dull grey day here today.H&G have gone for a long walk across the fields down to Cranford where they are going to have a bit of a late breakfast at the OldForge. hope they dont eat too much as it is going to be a big meal around 2pm. The Turkey is beginnng to smell good . I am just having a few minutes sit down as my back and hip are really painful today for some reason :-S. Gill H&G are staying until tomorrow afternoon,so we have plenty of time for lots of chat ,photos etc. I think Hannah has ordered some game that will be delivered today. So we will be playing that at some point. I am not sure what it is !.
I need to get back in the kitchen now as the potatoes have just par boiled and they need a good roughing up :-D

Morning all
Dull and wet here. No workmen today so I've had a lovely lay in. We've fed the birds so they're happy now and can eat in peace. I doubt the workmen will turn up next week as it's forecast for snow which will please Sandra as she wants to make a SNOWMAN. She was quite disappointed yesterday when there wasn't enough snow and then it melted.
It sounds like you're going to have a great time with the new Mr and Mrs Jane, are they staying with you for a few days? I can't remember if you said or not, sorry if you have.
I did have a giggle at your last post Mel and how you described the way you thought Frank was having a shower. At least you understand the post now.
Fancy the garden centre not putting the heating on Ann, what a daft idea especially in the winter. Hope the hot drink warmed you up. If I feel I might not need a jumper I pop it in a bag just in case I need it, it's quite light to carry so is no bother. Maybe you could do that with your scarf next time.
I recorded a programme on all the animals that come out at night, there were three of them, we started watching the first one last night but OH was falling asleep so we're going to watch them now instead.

Well why did I think I read Dressing Gown?????????? There's me picturing Frank in a toweling robe with cling film wrapped around him. Whats the point of that I thought if he is going in the shower most of him won't get wet. Silly old fool. I must be showing my age!! At least I understand the post now. :-S

Afternoon All LOL Mel. Ros covered Franks DRESSING with cling film (not his dressingown ! )
Frank, what a great sleep you had last night :-D I am not surprised you were exhausted after that visit from your friend . Short visits are whats really needed still at the moment. But I sure it was nice to see him anyway .
Ann I think I have been to that Farm Shop but many years ago. I think I will also pop in there again after our meal at the George. I am pretty sure too when we went to the food fair at Althorpe (Princess Di's family home) I bought some meat from one of the stalls that came from that Farm Shop.
Oh Gill I can just imagine Sandra glued to the window waiting for more snow :-D. It is still early days and I bet there will be more snow to come over the next couple of months.
I haven't stopped today. Cooking ,cleaning ,shopping . Everywhere was so dusty and dirty. Nothing has had a good clean since before Xmas as neither of us has felt up to doing much at all . But its done now thank goodness. Well most of the main jobs anyway. I have been wondering why my tumble dryer hasn't been drying properly and then realised just now that the light was on for cleaning the big filter. You should have seen the amount of wet fluff I washed out ! :-0. It was shocking. I am hoping that the last lot of washing will dry really quickly now.I dread to think of the electricity I have used over the last couple of days !!!!. I bet that smart meter was whizzing around :-S
I think H&G will be here sometime around 8 (hopefully not any later).Chris has managed not to have a nap today but just lay on the settee for an hour and had a teeny shut eye. He seems a lot better but I know he will still be wanting an early night. I think he will have to see all the photos tomorrow. I think the Turkey Crown is defrosted now .I have just left it in the garage for overnight. I cooked the Beef today and that is in a dish with lots of gravy. I will just need to peel the potatoes ,carrots and Parsnips in the morning . I bought those foil roasting tins ( I may have already said that) so there wont be too much mucky greasy washing up to do... I do think I am probably reapeating myself here so sorry :-S
Tomorrow morning at 10am I will have a quite thought about dear Ruth as this is the time of her funeral :-(.It is just such a shame I couldn't get there.
Anne your Salmon dish sounded delicious (even though I am not a great fan of Salmon).I wish I did like it as I know it is such a healthy fish to eat.
Mel my car was sparkly clean ,but now is covered in mud again :-S
Must go as I want to get the table set . Chicken pie already to go in the oven and extra veg.I seem to have made a really big pie,but I always worry I haven't done enough . Gareth can eat for England. He is like a bottomless pit LOL

We have been lucky to have no rain today but the gloom is back and it's been very cold. You made me chuckle Mel, as Ros stuck the cling film on to hold his dressing down, not his dressing gown. :-) No wonder it puzzled you! I expect she stuck it over the dressing to his skin to keep the dressing dry.
That must have felt good getting your shower at last Frank. It would make you feel more human. I thought you would get some bruising but that sounds pretty bad from your waist to under your arm. It was nice you got a visitor, but it sounds like it was too much of a good thing with him staying so long! It can be tricky visiting as you don't want to seem like you are rushing off either do you!
We were absolutely perished at the garden centre as they had NO heating on and I'd not bothered with a scarf as I thought I'd be too hot. We made a beeline for the cafe to warm us up on a hot drink. We came home a different way to avoid the Friday afternoon traffic so didn't go past MIL's old house.
I had noticed the other day that the Sewing Bee was coming back and am looking forward to it as well.

Pleased to see you had a shower now Frank and feel much better for it. Good idea to put cling film over the dressing, now you know it works you can have more showers. It looks like you're sleeping better to and had a good lay in this morning. With not having much sleep lately you'll find you'll be sleeping a bit more now to catch up. The bruise sounds awful, I hope it clears soon for you.
Well, after all the vans this morning Ann most of them didn't stay very long and with the snow the people doing the fascias and gutters stopped work after only completing half of it. I don't blame them as the snow did come down quite thick and fast. The plasterer has just left, he had a light on somehow in the hall so the light shone into the small bedroom so we could see the work in there, the plaster looks like it'd dried out okay with no effects of rain or snow running down it, the ceiling has been done so that'll help keep the water out, but for how long who knows?
Even though the snow came down quite thickly it melted straight away with the ground being wet so Sandra never had a chance to build a snowman after all. My mum visited so that pleased her though.
I've been getting the error page to Mel :-| :-|

Must read Ann's and Franks posts but I have been to Holsworthy this afternoon for chicken food and shavings and wild bird food.
It tipped it down on the way there but as I drove into Mole Valley it stopped.
I am having trouble with the Error page keep coming up and had to go to the GR sight to get in that way and then on to General Chat and then try to get on here.
Anyone else having trouble?

Afternoon all,
I slept until 10.45 this morning, with only one trip to the loo around 3.00 am. Ros got my COT and tablets. I have HAD A SHOWER. My darling wife covered my dressing with Cling Film and stuck it all down. WHAT A TREAT., having that lovely hot water running over my body. I managed to wash my hair, without any help. Now all dressed in clean joggers, Tee Shirt and jumper.
Ros has made a Chicken Casserole for this evening, and I had a bowl of vegetable soup for lunch.
Thanks for your cards Ann and Jane, very much appreciated.
My back is feeling a little better this morning, even though I want to scratch it to pieces :-( :-( :-( I wish I knew how to send a photo through Ros's phone. The bruise goes from under my armpit to my waistline, I am now getting pain in the front of my ribs also. A chap from around the corner called at 2.00 pm yesterday and stayed until 4.30.!! Nice to have a bit of company, but BOY was I pleased when he went, he tired me out :-S :-S :-S He can talk for ENGLAND and can out laugh the loudest hyena in the JUNGLE.
I'm beginning to feel drossy, so will get back to my chair for a few zzz. I hope Ros won't be long with her hair dryer. It makes such a noise. :-( :-( :-( ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)
Suns shining here !!!!

Afternoon Everyone,
A scraping morning this morning with all the frost! I had a look outside at 4.00am as I was still awake and the cars were covered in frost then. We were laughing at some old photos my friend had dug out this morning Mel. In one she had just climbed a mountain with her hubby, but in WHITE bell bottomed trousers of all things!! One of the other ladies had brought us all a large glass bead to bead around to make pendants. I managed to get one I liked the best! I hope the new chickens are settling in with the others ok and are playing nicely.
Anne we have salmon most weeks now and your version sounded delicious and very tasty. Your mum's widowed Aunt's smallholding would have been heaven to me as a child with all the animals. I'm sure I've been to Tenterden or passed through it with OH quite a few years ago. It would have been when we stayed at the Peak Lodge accommodation at the hospital at Benenden.
Jane I meant to ask if you had ever been to the farm shop at East Farndon which is near the eaterie you suggested at Great Oxendon? Some friends reckon it is fantastic and has a great restaurant where you can watch the chefs cooking. I might pop in there after I see you and Fitz, just to see what it is like.
Gill, the more the merrier with the vans. What do they say about many hands making light work? Hopefully it means the work will be done quicker and you can get back to normal again with your car back in your drive.
We are off a bit further afield now to a garden centre along the A5. We might divert to go past OH;s parents old house on the way to see if it's changed much. :-)

It's just started snowing, but not enough for it to lay, so Sandra's waiting patiently to see if it thickens up so she can build her snowman. I think she's going to have a long wait as the ground is very wet after the rain we had. I'll keep my fingers crossed for her though.

Morning all
Dull and grey here to Mel. Lots of workmen around. OH thought that might be the case so when he got up he put our car in front of our bungalow to stop the workmen parking there as they block the drive. There must be about 20 vans in our street today as the neighbours over the road are having work done to their place to. We noticed the brickies didn't finish the top of the wall last night so that's being finished now and the fascia boards have started to go up on the new extension. It looks like they're going to have black windows, fascias and gutters. They've already told us the rendering is going to be white. The neighbour on the other side doesn't like the black windows as he can see them through his bay window. Luckily we can't see anything from our side apart from down the side but they're small windows for the bathrooms and small bedroom.
I hope your new girls settled in okay last night Mel. I suppose you'll find out once you've had your cuppa and check on them.
Still going through the family tree and comparing it with the one I've got access to, so that'll keep me busy today.
If anyone is interested "The Great British Sewing Bee" is due to start soon on BBC.2 It hasn't been on for a few years so Sandra and I are looking forward to watching it when it starts, they haven't given a start date yet.

Morning all,
The sky is mostly grey but there are streaks of blue here and there so it may brighten up a bit later on if we're lucky.
Hope Ann gets something finished at beading today and dos'nt do too much nattering and giggling.
Hav'nt gone round to the girls yet as I am just having a cuppa first.
