Morning all and evening Kim,
Sunny again today but still quite a breezey wind.
My knee is still playing up and I don't know what to do about it. May have to go to the docs but I expect he will only tell me to go and have it xrayed and that means a trip to Barnstaple and a day lost. It gives me a sharp pain every nowo and then and it is clicking a lot.

Morning all
Sunny here today but not as warm as it has been.
Sorry to hear your first buyers messed you around Pat but glad things are back on track with the new buyers and no chain as well ;-) ;-). I bet you're so excited and can't wait to move into your new place.
We've had a few agents trying to sell our place and to be honest they're all as bad as each other. The agent we're with now is the cheapest.......half the price of the others so it's hard to know what to do, weather to stay with them or move to another agent who could be as bad as this one where we could end up paying double the price. I might try and see if I can have two agents that way they may work a little harder to secure a sale and if our original agent sells then we'll pay the cheaper price. To be honest the property has been on the market so long now it doesn't feel like it's up for sale anymore, we don't even have a for sale board anymore because it got blown down a few times with bad weather so we gave up having another one put up in the end.
Hope you enjoy your holiday in Yorkshire and the weather is nice for you. We're thinking of taking a holiday this year, we haven't had one for 12 years as we wanted to pay the mortgage off which we did last September, so it'll be nice to get away if OH can get some time off work.
I've made a start on sorting out all the junk we have collected over the years, so I might have another go today, I can't believe how much stuff there is that we just don't use or need anymore, so I think it's time for a good clear our before it takes over the place :-D :-D.
Better get on with it BBL <3

Morning all Wasn't It cold yesterday well I was
I have tried reading though a lot of posts to try and catch up.
Ann. You do have a lot of worry with OH parents. I hope you can sort something out for them soon. Do you live far from them.
Gill. Your agents should be doing more you are the ones paying them to do the work for you. Can you not change agents
We have now accepted another offer as our estate agent told us the previous one had started to mess them around. So I hope we don't have problems with this one. They are first time buyers so no chain
Anyone on FB can see what is happening at my daughters by looking at my page
The old garage is now down. and the. Office that was behind it. This is still being extended and joined right up to Clare's house -

I'm so sorry to hear about your situation Ann with your in-laws, something definitely needs to be done though, you both can't carry on like this. 4 days on the sofa isn't going to do your OH any good either. Chatting with social services is a good idea, they may have a solution that everyone's in agreement with.
I'm sure if things get to bad then the doctors can recommend a home or such like for them both or even just your FIL if he is worse and social services have to help then without MIL's permission. If she isn't capable of looking after him because of her health then something has to be done.
I remember my granddad wasn't allowed home when he went into hospital as he wasn't capable of looking after himself so had to go into a home. My nan had passed away so his situation was slightly different but if you're MIL is in hospital and then needs help herself once she get's home, she can't look after FIL so he might be able to get a place in a home, even if it's only for a short while until MIL can look after him again. Best to chat with social services as they'll have the answers. I hope things improve soon for you all.
I agree Frank when you said we shouldn't mention to the Agent about the couple contacting us, we've already agreed to that with the couple, but when I rang them again today, they are a bit disappointed with the lack of viewing's on their place and said it wouldn't be fair on us to view our place until they have sold their place, so the lady said they would be in touch once they have sold and have the viewing then.
Sounds like Fitz's is going to have a house full for a while until his son and partner can move into their new place. How long are they staying there?
I can hear OH snoring on the sofa so I'd better go, I didn't realise how late it is. See you all tomorrow NIght Night

No, it's unfamiliar and not safe for him here Jane. We have hard floors, he needs handrails everywhere and a hoist on his bed and we don't have a spare bedroom. Also the carers where he lives are under a different council to here. OH took him to the hospital to see MIL this afternoon to take some things for her and OH said that on the way he wasn't making any sense at all and thinks he is far worse than just the bad memory that MIL has said. He thinks MIL is 'his' mum as well as OH's which is very telling as it is the kind of relationship that they have always had. He said MIL seemed fine and not at all concerned about FIL. She is going to need injections to sort out her swollen legs but of course didn't tell the doctor she hadn't been taking the tablets for it. They say she will be in hospital for 4 days. OH broached the matter of respite care with both of them and it didn't go down well, but he is ringing Social Services again tomorrow.
Mel, that could be why she doesn't leave him at home, but really it is the way they have always been to go everywhere together and they won't change their habits, They have always followed each other around the house seeing what the other is doing, just like FIL has been following OH around today. OH says it is driving him crackers already and is worried FIL will fall again. OH got a a couple of books to read now as FIL only watches pre 1950s old films he has recorded and at high volume! OH doesn't think he will get any sleep tonight and isn't sure his dad will even stay in the bedroom without him in there!! He says it is a nightmare.
Yes, the ring of the phone sets our nerves jangling now Mandy. Thanks for mentioning about sheltered housing. It's another thing to look into. The way things are going downhill though I'm beginning to think FIL would be safer in a home. He's going downhill fast and liable to go off wandering about if he's left on his own. But then I can't see them agreeing to move from their house either. I thought these kinds of worries would be long gone by the time I was this age. That's what comes of having a toyboy the second time around.......you have to do it all twice. :-S
That's very true about the beading class, my friend got nothing done by the time she'd unpicked hers twice and started again! lol. As you say, you can't concentrate. I think what I will do instead is go to one of the beading workshops they have later in the year at the house that has cakes and beads.
OH discovered that someone has cleared the ditch where it was filled in and blocked off behind next door's garden . :-) It must have happened while we were away as we never saw any diggers. Now if there are floods again it won't pour into our garden from theirs. :-D
The window cleaner came this morning and when he came for his money he complimented me on the back garden. I think it is because OH told him once that he was just the labourer. I noticed this morning that we have cues about 4 inches long now.
The Barnesley lamb chops we get from the farm shop are an inch thick and fill half your plate Jane. You'd need a big bite for those! I know what you mean about the titchy ones though and then half of it is bone. You forgot to mention having vino at Fitz's. lol.
I do hope all's well with William. Has anyone who does FB seen him around?

Oh dear Ann i do feel for you really i do ,i had just the same problem with my mum and dad ,we were getting phone calls all hours of the day and night !! It's so hard to know what to do for the best . Some kind of Sheltered housing might be an idea it is possible to buy sheltered accommodation or rent it privately they have a manager on site and a 24-hour alarm system, at least you would have peace of mind knowing some one was there for them to call on .
Shame about the other new class ,but i don't think i would like all the noisy chatter either, especially when your trying to concentrate on your beading .
Well this afternoon it turned so cold ,i said to hubby we'll need the heating on tonight !! It does seem to have warmed up now ,could be because i had the oven on and i've put a cardi on too .

Sorry Liz i thought it was your teeth.Even so I'm glad OH's teeth are all tickety boo :-D Mel I never buy lamb chops.Just lamb Steaks or a Joint. There is nothing on the chops just a bite full. They are so flavoursome though. My favourite lamb is the Lamb Kleftico I buy in Waitr***.But it is not cheap so we just have that now and again. James and Chris have had their dinner, but I am not hungry enough for mine yet.Not that it is very interesting.Just a microwave cottage pie.I had a nice lunch with Fitz ,just bits and bobs but it seemed to fill me up.So I will have mine in a bit. It makes me think back to my childhood days .No microwave meals then.

Just heard on the news that some b......d (s) in Bristol have destroyed a kids play ground by setting it on fire- unbelievable, the kids interviewed were in tears. What I'd do to these sods isn't printable!! It's twenty nine years ago today that my mother died aged 68. It does seem a long time ago now.

O Ann I just knew something like this would happen and poor FIL dos'nt know where he is without her. Sounds like the situation is not going to get any better either. I know just what it is like as mum would not go anywhere without me towards the end and I could'nt go out at night because she would'nt be left alone. If I had a ringing outing I was always worried she would try and cook herself something and not be able to manage or forget and leave something turned on. I just had to stop going out in the end.
I suppose this is why MIL always take s FIL with her when she goes to her appointments. Bless....... I hope Gordon can cope ok and I am sure he will. YOu have to when it's your parents and he being an only child like I was, it's all down to you so I know what he is going through.
Done my shopping and had a senior moment at the trollies. I put my bag of shopping bags on the hook on the trolly but could'nt get the trolly apart from the next one in the line so moved to the next line fo trollies and took one of those. Yes you've guessed it...... I was half way round the shop when I missed the bags with a trolly a good half full. I thought at first they had been pinched when I was at the cheese counter but I asked one of the supervisors and she told me a man had handed some bags in to customer services. Down I go to them and Sally a girl I know was on that counter so I asked her and she had them. I was glad to get them back BUT I had a lovely Christmasy bag of theirs that I got about 6 or 7 years ago. It was a childs painting of a snowman in the snow and the bag was blue. I used that one for frozen stuff as I ALWAYS knew which bag it was in then and it could go straight in the freezer when I got home. Guess which bag was misssing???????????????

Oh dear Ann Something like this was bound to happen sooner or later.Poor Gordon will be at his wits end.If MIL has to stay in would you consider having FIL at yours rather than Gordon having to sleep on the sofa?.Or is that not an option?Having a carers 24hrs around the clock might be another option.Although I don't know if a bed would be needed or not.The only other thing would be for him to go into temporary care if MIL not going to be fit enough to look after everything. What a predicament.I feel very sorry for you both having this worry now <3 <3
This wind is really quite chilly.I wish it would go.I went down to see Fitz at lunchtime and we had to sit in.They are having a right upheaval there as one son and wife have just moved into a new flat and there wasn't room for all their furniture. So that has come back, and now the other son and his partner are having trouble with a mortgage company(bit too long winded to go into detail) but the upshot is that they have to move out of their flat on Friday with a whole flat full of furniture and nowhere to move .SO Son, girlfriend and ALL FURNITURE are going back to Fitz !!!!!!! until they can eventually move into the place they are buying.Luckily they do have the extra space for storing stuff now since Fitz's mum died. But even so it is going to be a real problem. Personally I think they should be putting all their furniture into storage (they can afford it).Secretly Fitz feels the same.KIDS EH!!!
Yes Frank I had a nice chat with Peter.I still find it strange to think he is my half brother. Anyway he told me that our other Half Brother Joe had put an advert in a local paper down in Portsmouth as he is desperate to get in touch with our other half sister .(have been in touch with her before but she didn't want to know) .But Joe did get a phone call from this sisters daughter. So whether she will get in touch who knows.Watch this space. We have found her on FB !!.I am staying out of this and leaving it to others lol ( I assume it is the right person).Just hope Joe isn't barking up the wrong tree.
That is good your teeth are fine Liz.I always heave a sigh of relieve when I don't need anything doing :-D
Frank what does Ros have done to her nails? is it Gel Varnish ?
I think Thomas is sat in the shrubs on cat patrol :-S :-S.He seems to have found a favourite place to hide..Naughty boy. I bought 2 tops and a pair of trousers this morning.......and I don't have to take any back :-D :-D :-D,just need the trousers shortening. This afternoon I had to pay the balance on our holiday...I had forgotten how much it was.Needed a lie down after LOL.At least that is done and out the way now. Best get some food on the go now.

Poor old you Ann and Gordon, What more can you do ?? You are at the beck and call all the time, and still they are a problem for you both. Can Social Services and their GP come up with any solutions ?? i.e. care centre ?? or nursing home ?? It can't be good for your lives, can it !!!
Thanks Liz, from one old person to another :-D :-D :-D :-D Glad that Cassie isn't digging up what you are putting in. !!!
That new class just doesn't seem like you Ann. I am sure you don't want to be shouting at everyone to make yourself heard.
Yes Ann, With Jan going out to Spain again the day before we arrive will be very handy. She can drop Conrad off to work in the morning and we will have the car to get around. We can pick him up at lunchtime and have lunch together, then pick him up in the evening for going for a meal. I can see it's not going to be a cheap two weeks. Jan will stay there after we come home. Her daughter and G'Daughter are going over for two weeks on the 7th July. So Jan will have a nice long stay with Conrad.
Chinese spare ribs, chips and corn on the com for tea/dinner. They are in the oven and smelling good.

Good heaven's Ann, what a performance with your in-laws, how awful for you and OH having to cope with such a stressful situation. As you say, you can't go on like this so I suppose a chat with their GP/Social Services will be the next step to try and sort out what's best. Trouble is they can't be forced into anything which makes finding a solution very difficult- I do feel for you.

It's a bare patch that we grew courgette on last year, but haven't planted anything on it this, so its turned into her digging spot!!! Afternoon All,
I hope you have a nice break in Spain Frank. You'll be living in your shorts at those temperatures I expect. Me.....married 51 years......you know I'm a youngster !! lol.
Yes, your son will have to take care with his back won't he Mandy. It must have been a bit disappointing when he was expecting to hear something more useful.
Your mum is bound to be sad over those two things happening Gill and I expect it will take a little while for her to feel more cheerful. Could you not change to another agent to sell your house if the current one is not very good?
I'm not sure the beading group I went to yesterday morning will be my kind of thing. It was all very friendly, but they seem to have their own 'seat' so I was right away from everyone at the very end of a very long table of about 16 people, not easy to get to know anyone. Also it is very noisy with everyone talking at once whereas it is chatty but not shouting at the other group I go to. Some were doing quilting and several seemed to belong to everything going on in the neighbourhood. Cakes and biscuits are brought every week to the group. My waistline would be exploding in no time and it's not easy to say no when they are in front of you! I think it is a great group for anyone on their own, but for me I felt it was a bit 'intense'.
MIL's neighbour phoned OH at lunchtime to say he'd called an ambulance for MIL, so OH had to whizz there from his meeting while I cancelled his doctor's appointment and meeting this afternoon. MIL has been taken to hospital in the city with chest pain. The paramedic was also concerned about her badly swollen legs she's had for a long long time, but she stopped taking the tablets the doctor gave her for it ages ago as they didn't suit. OH is now stranded with FIL and will have to sleep there overnight on the settee as he can't be left and they only have one bed. He has no idea what FIL's tablet regime is and FIL has no idea either and said he had asked MIL to write it down before now but she never has. OH says he can't even go from one room to another without FIL following him, so can't leave the house. I said I'd get some stuff and bring it, but he said he'd pop and get a bit of shopping when the carers call in tonight. Thank goodness they hadn't cancelled that! OH said he can't put anything in a different place, even a cup on the draining board as 'MIL puts it here/there.' OH said his dad doesn't know where anything is and says MIL does it/looks after it. He still won't use the stairlift, says he's fine on the stairs!! OH said he'd spoken to his mum on the phone and she seemed ok and they were still doing tests. Something certainly needs sorting out now, whatever they want, none of us can carry on like this.

SORRY LIZ, I just had it in my mind that it was Ann. (SENIOR MOMENT) :-D :-D :-D What's Cassie up to now then, digging up what you are putting in !!!
I was going to cut the lawns this afternoon, but I feel more like putting the heating on, than going outside. I'm quite chilly, not like me. I will put a light jumper on.
Ros has gone to her Chinese nail lady. She does make me laugh when she imitates what Anna says. "you come now" I am waiting for you, in a Chinese accent. She will then do a Tesc# run.
So it's a good sign for your son then Mandy. I like the skirting jobs. He must take care, not to put himself back with trying to do too much to soon.
The Hog is about again. His calling cards are down the drive and on the patio. I have started feeding him in the usual place as before. Mel, will he use his box during the summer as a resting place as night ??
Hope you had a good old chin wag with your brother Jane. Did you make any arrangements to meet up ???
I have been very disappointed with Tesc#s products lately. Their own FARM HOUSE bread is lovely but when you open the bag, you find the main part of the loaf has a BIG hole right through the loaf. The fresh peas are being picked to early by the supplier. Most of the pods haven't anything in them, so you are paying for pods instead of peas. I don't know if it's just Northampton. but you can't buy fresh loose potato's in store. They are all in bags apart from the big Jacket potato's. Thank goodness we have Morriso#s Where Ros buys all out loose English spuds.
The sun is trying to break through. So it aught it is JUNE. !!!!

Afternoon all,
Bit dull here today and i had just hung the washing out and it started to rain ,now it's stopped ,it's going to be one of those days, washing out washing in !!!
Been for my eye test this morning i should get my new glasses in about ten days ,one pair of bifocals and a pair for reading and close up work ,more expense as Frank would say :-D
It's good you know how to sort out your cables for the internet Gill i wouldn't know where to start with things like that i have to ask son and he comes and fixes things for me ,hubby's no good at things like that either ,ask him to do any sort of building work and he's happy but not any thing with the computer . Your poor mum must be missing her little cat and her friend ,it's good she lives nearby so you can visit her ,does Sandra go with you too ?
Fiona ,i get my deramitis on my hands ,if i empty the hoover and get the dust on my hands it usually starts going all itchy under my rings and between my fingers i'am fine now as i remember to put gloves on before i empty it .
It will be nice for you to have a catch up with your birth brother Jane ,any news from Hannah ? whats the weather like where she is ?
Yes Frank i suppose it's not long now till your off to Spain , i think 30 is just a bit to hot for me :-0 :-D
Went with son yesterday to his appointment about his back, it was just a load of questions ,they didn't even have a look at his back now they are writing to the physio to get an appointment with them !! which is what son thought this appointment was for !! She told him he was to be a skirting board worker, which means he can do low down work but not to do any work that he has to stretch for as this is making his back arch and is why he gets pain ,if he has to higher work he can do it from steps so long as he his fairly level with the work .
Liz , how is Cassie's hole digging going :-D :-D ok so long as she doesn't bury her duck !!
