Mel Fairy Godmother Report 6 Jun 2015 17:44

Worn out...........there were so many flowers in the vases it took me ages to sort out what wass dead and what I could use again. I hate throwing out flowers that arn't dead.

Anyway all done now and just had a cuppa and a cream eclair that I put strawberries in. Delish....

Ann do you think MIL is feeling left out if FIL has a carer coming in to help him? Getting the washing and ironing done will be a great help. Sounds like you had a good time at the bead fair. I bet you bought mauves greens and blacks.

Jingle bells jingle bells here comes Thomas the cat.............. you'll have to comb his ruff everyday now he has a collar on.

Good to know William is still posting on FB.

Annx Report 6 Jun 2015 17:06

Afternoon All,

That sounds like a lovely day Mandy and how nice to get the patio rose called 'Marry Me'. I just had a google and it's a lovely shape and colour. I would have loved your lamb shank and Eton Mess. I got some strawberries today so might do Eton Mess with them and some blueberries......naughty but nice! ;-)

I thought I might have to follow my friends to the bead house in my own car when I saw how high it was to get in my friend's 4x4. She thought it would be too much of a squeeze in her little car. In the end I managed by doing a sort of Fosbury Flop Frank mentioned before.......leaning back across the seat and pushing with my hands while swinging a leg over the sill onto the floor. A few more shuffles and I was in. Not an elegant manouevre to undertake, good job I wasn'twearing a skirt! When we got there I had some delicious home made toffee cake and then later was persuaded to have another cuppa with some lovely beetroot cake and a biscuit. :) We all spent enough to use our £5 off vouchers and came away with a handful of free patterns too so it was a good morning. When we got back, my friend's 2 rescue cats put in an appearance and were wearing their little collars with bells.

I don't know if it was from standing so long looking at all the beads and chatting but last night in bed my knees and my hips were hot and zinging!! Much better this morning though thank goodness.

Yes we had another one of those phone messages left yesterday Frank! All she said was 'we are at the end of our tether, can you come over when you get this message.' OH rang her instead as he really didn't want to do another 25 miles after being over there several times already last week. She seemed put out that they'd had to have a lie down after their trip to the hospital, as lying down in the day is something they never do!! She said she was struggling herself with dressing etc in the mornings. The doctor was calling in the afternoon so OH told her to explain this to the doctor too and to ring Social Services. Upshot is that carers will come in to help her in the mornings too and will do the washing and ironing.

I would love a trip on the canal too, they do them not too far from here and you can have a meal too which would be nice. That warehouse sounds good that Ros went to Frank...... I bet she will be going back there again!

Thomas looks even more hairy in the photo Jane, and yes, what a bushy tail. I was thinking he is more like a 'Dennis the Menace' than a 'Thomas' now he is killing baby birds!! He sounds like a 'two bell' cat to me. ;-) ;-)

Jane Report 6 Jun 2015 16:17

I'm sure you will do lovely displays for the church Mel :-D

Mandy do the bells work on your neighbours cats? I know they didn't with Fitz's cat Podge.he ended up with such a large bell LOL,but even that didn't stop him catching anything in sight :-S..Collars scare me a bit as Chester nearly strangled when he was a little pup when his collar got caught on a branch in the Yew hedge.I was so lucky to hear his little cries. This cat collar has an easy release clasp ,but I still have left plenty of room for it to just easily slip off it needs be.

Maureen is about but is busy as she usually is.She replied to my pic of Thomas, and said that her sons cat had kittens and if one is still left when she next visits she may well end up with him.Name of Reggie :-D
William has put a pic of his sunset yesterday on his FB.it is a wonderful photo :-D

Yes I hope the open viewing went really well for Pat and that there will have been at least one who will want to buy the house.

This wind is making my eyes very itchy so I have been inside all afternoon.I have been watching the tennis and doing MORE ironing. It was the washing I put out this morning. All shirts and trousers. At least they are done now :-D

It will be Meatballs and Spaghetti for us tonight with Asparagus and little roasted tomatoes.I just need to make the drizzle stuff to go over them.I'm trying to remember how to make it.I think it is White Wine Vinegar, garlic,Dijon Mustard and a little oil.I might not even do it as the Asparagus and toms will still be nice and tasty without it.Plus there is going to be loads of sauce with the spag and meatballs.

Hannah will ring this evening once she has finished all her packing etc.i bet she has been like a headless chicken today.I am probably getting more anxious than she is.But is only because of all the trouble she has had in the past .I do think though that the trip she had to do to Germany the other month on her own must have given her that bit more confidence to know she can do it.3 weeks is quite a long time to be away on your own.I know Chris will get exasperated with me if I keep wittering LOL,so I will just have to keep my worries to myself :-D

Frank I might suggest to Chris we go to Stoke Bruerne (?sp) and take a boat trip.it is years since we went.Only trouble is I reckon it will be so busy this time of year.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 6 Jun 2015 14:59

I was wondering about the viewings too Mandy. I am sure Pat will let us know.

I am just going to cut some green stuff from the garden adn go up the church. It all depends how long it takes me as to how much I have to throw away and what to keep to put in with my new stuff. There are quite a lot of nice yellow chrysants up and a bit of babies breath but the green foliage is past it.

See you later.

Afternoon all,

Bright and breezy here today ,it's quite chilly when the sun goes behind the clouds .

Hubby's out in the garden relaying the brick weave now then he just has to do the pointing up on the slabs and give them a good pressure wash .
I've been planting up the plants we got yesterday .

Your right Frank we didn't have any thing else to eat yesterday ,in fact today we have only had a little salad for our lunch :-D
Did you decide if you were going on the canal trip this afternoon ? i should think it would be nice just sailing along in the sun shine .

Oh no Jane he's not getting the baby birds naughty Thomas ,i was going to say what about a collar with a bell on , they have them on all their cats next door ,i know some people don't like them on their cats as they can get caught up ,but i think a lot of them are elastic now so they give way if they catch them on any thing.

No Ann yesterday ,i hope all's well with the in-laws .

We haven't heard from Maureen lately either i wonder if her internet is all sorted
now !!

So you have a busy day Mel doing the flowers for the church ,how long do they take you to do ?
I see the ladies go into the church near us with armfuls of flowers it's usually on a friday when i see them, two sisters ,i wondered if they buy the flowers from the markets flower stall .

I wonder how's Pats viewing went on the house yesterday.

Afternoon All

Frank I will send you a pic of Thomas.I am sure you were included with all the other names ,but maybe it just didn't get to you...Would I leave you out on purpose lol
He now is wearing a collar with little bell.So he is tinkling away. Not sure the bell will save any birds but its worth a try.

I had a lovely old Wash basin and jug too.But gave it to Janice as it was a blooming nuisance and it seemed a shame to stick in the loft. They don't really sell for much either unless it is an extra special set.

Funny day today. Not too sunny and quite windy. The washing line is full and washing blowing nicely.Towels to go out next.
Chris had cut a hedge and is now having a bonfire and i do believe the sun is coming out again. So maybe this afternoon will turn out to be better than this morning :-)

Mel did you ring the Greengrocer???

Morning all, Evening Kim.

Where's my picture of THOMAS then Jane. ??? Out of sight out of mind comes to mind :-D :-D You must remember Jane, that's what cats do. My old cat at Gayton tried jumping over the gate with a baby rabbit in hid mouth, He was so put out that he couldn't jump with it in his mouth.

Mel We have a Victorian wash basin and jug in the loft. I keep saying we should have it on display, but where do you put it. It's sods law if I bring it down it will get broken. !!! I SEE YOU HAVE FRANK TROUBLE !!!

That was some blow out you had yesterday Mandy. I bet you didn't eat last night. ;-) ;-) ;-)

How's things on the in-law front Ann, any more troubles ???

Mel Ros want's to buy next door some long handled shears. So they can do their lawn edges. I SAID NO WAY. !!! If they want them let them buy them. They won't use them anyway. :-( :-(

I see the wind is back with a lot of cloud. I can't see me wanting to go for a walk down the canal this afternoon.

Jane They run boat trips from the pub at Stoke Bruene (THE BOAT) So it's somewhere you could go. I think there are other companies that do it around here as well.

Off to get my shower, We have had a lazy morning watching "Saturday Kitchen" Now I had better get my bum into gear. :-D :-D :-D

Nice morning at the moment with sunshine blue sky and fluffy white clouds. Bit of a wind but not too bad.

I am on flower duty today at the church and have to do four vases, one huge one on a stand, two on the alter and one in the porch. So, what are you lot up to today?

Mel I always get so cross with myself when I want to buy something and don't.Then go back later and it has gone !!!!.

Mandy it sounds like you have had a really lovely day. 'Cruise Liner ' sounds a great description for the Banana Boat pudding LOL...I do find sometimes the puds are just too big especially after 2 big courses .I tend to either have a starter and main ,or main and pud .But trying to decide which is so difficult LOL

Frank I think a canal trip sounds lovely.I have never done one,but would love to .

Thomas's tail is amazing Mandy !!!.He is a very hairy cat,so will need lots of grooming. He is quite good when I set to with the cat comb, until it starts to tug a bit, then his paws come up ready to grab me.He is actually very gentle but still have several scratches on my hands and arms, even though I never felt them
:-S
My dinner is nearly ready, and my tum is really rumbling .I am pretty hungry :-S

Evening all,

We've had a lovely day ,i had some nice flowers from hubby then we called in to see son and DIL first thing they had bought us a Patio rose called Marry Me .
We went out for lunch to a place we hadn't been to before ,the portions were huge !! i had Lasagne with chunky chips and so much salad it kept falling off the plate !! hubby had Slow Roasted Lamb shank with veg, then we had a pud ,hubby had a Banana Boat well it was more like a cruise liner :-D :-D covered in fruit and cream , i had Eton Mess again this was huge ,full of Raspberries and Strawberries and cream and meringue , i had to leave some of mine but hubby cleared his dish !! :-D

We then went to the garden centre and bought two new pots and more compost and i bought a Canna with lovely red flowers .

This morning we had heavy rain with thunder and it's been so humid all day ,suns shining now .

Lovely photo of Thomas Jane my goodness he has got a bushy tail hasn't he :-)

I should think it will be nice on the canal trip tomorrow Frank ,it should be a nice day.

Your poor mum Gill ,losing her friend and now her little cat ,do you think she will have another ? it's hard losing a pet you do get use to them being around and they are company too.

I wonder how many yummy cakes Ann had this morning at the bead sale :-D
Hope MIL's not to bruised after her fall ,couldn't have helped her back going down like that,it's good though that the endoscopy looked clear.

Oh Mel, is it to far to go back tomorrow for the jug ? i've done the same dithered and then when iv'e gone back the item has gone !!

I am back from Holsworthy where I went to get some chicken food and a new pair of edging shears for oh. They are Wilk*nsons and they were half price and only cost £15 instead of £30. Makes a change for me to get a bargain. First I bought my assortment of bird foods for the wildy ones and fell in love the a huge big old fashioned jug in brown and a lovely honey colo0ur in the wholefoods shop window. They sell a few antiguey bits of china. It was only £12 but I could'nt think where I would keep it and did I really need it so I refrained from buying it and now I regret it!! Is'nt it always the same? It would have looked lovely at Christmas with holly and green stuff in.

<3 <3Happy Anniversary Mandy and Colin <3 <3

Hope you did something nice for your day.

After a dull start this morning it brightened u and the sun came out the min I went out in the car.

I bought some plants Frank, two of the begonias I had last year which I have been looking for as the ones I had last year hav'nt come back, two Diasias a pale pink and a darker pink and another dark leaved Heuchera and on the way home I got another candleabour primrose in an orangy colour asI lost one round the little pond and it was only £1 from the lady up the road.

Also got the flowers for the church and some english strawberries that smelt so nice and they were as when I got home oh made me a cuppa and I had bought some choc eclairs in waitr*se and I spit them open and put the strawberries inside with the cream. Luverly grub.................we still have two left for sweet tonight. I shall make a sheep sh*t pie.

Thanks for the picture of Thomas Jane and I too managed to turn it round so I could view it properly. He is so like my Marmite I can't beleive it's not him, even down the the big bushy tail and white socks.

No I did'nt have sweaty feet Frank as the boots are really too big for me but the calfs ( should that be calves or calfs?) of my legs were really hot so I should have put my short rubber gardening shoes on but the wellies shied my legs more from prickles and stuff. They don't make the wellies I wear in a size 3 which I really need but I tell you what my feet are never cold in them in the winter with them being a bit too big.

Frank Report 5 Jun 2015 17:37

Jane, I try not to mention the "BUST UPS". The injections are for my testosterone (I am short of it in my body)

The new computer is an ACER. Same size as my existing one but has got more bits on it.

We are suppose to be going on a canal trip tomorrow afternoon 2.30 pm. it's to do with something about the Canal partnership. We are members. Whether I will go I am not sure. Ros will no doubt with Valerie (Sid's) wife.

Touch wood. Conrad is doing very well at the moment, selling anything up to 5 properties a week. Hence the long hours. The buyers are mainly Swedish, Russian and a few Brits.

I don't suppose we will see that much of him during our stay, apart from evening meals out. I will still have a wonder down to the local bar for my evening pint, and they will pick me up to go for a meal.

Jan says it's VERY HOT out there, so don't take and warm cloths,

Very humid out there now, so those thunder storms might still be around later. They say the weekend should be fine. Not they are right very often !!!

How did your lunch go Mandy. Did you go anywhere nice ??

I'll take a chance and not water tonight. I said we had rain in the night. But how much I don't know.

Stir Fry tonight, so Ros will do that, and I can sit and watch the news.

How's MUM now Gill. It is very sad loosing a pet. I know how I was when I lost my pets and most of all when "MY FRIEND" died in my arms.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY MANDY AND OH <3 <3 <3.I hope you are enjoying yourselves

That will be nice Frank for Conrad to have Jan there for a few weeks. They must miss each other .Golly he does work long hours doesn't he.Is everything still going well for him out there with the business?

I have given Thomas a nice stroke from you :-D....Not hanging around him too much though at the moment as he has terrible stinky wind :-S :-S :-S.He is such a lazy puss, just sleeps all the time. But he did have a good scratch on the post and had a bat around with the little ball I have tied on :-D.

I am wondering if we may actually get a bit of thunder and rain.it does feel quite thundery now.I have put the big fan on which is cooling me done a little.Mind you I have just been ironing,so that didn't help lol

Chris has been out for lunch today with his ex colleague .She has been cancer free (from Breast Cancer ) for about 3 or 4 years now,but has got to have a CAT scan as she is complaining of some pain in her ribs...I do hope everything will be ok.It is a bit of a worry as she had the most aggressive form of cancer.
So I just need to cook for James and me.It is Sainsb*** Moussaka ready to just bung in the oven :-D.James is then off to see Jess for the Weekend.
So it's the 2 old codgers :-D

Frank what computer is your new one? is it a laptop? I was thinking about your injections you have been having and am I right in thinking that since you have been having them that your temper has got better ? I don't mean to be rude ,but I have realised you haven't mentioned any major 'bust ups' for a long time :-D :-D

I am going to have to go and wash my hands as they feel so sticky.

Frank Report 5 Jun 2015 13:03

It's only me. Good afternoon all,

Happy Anniversary Mandy. How many has that been this week ???

As I was saying (before I got cut off in my prime) We had a lovely meal on Wednesday. The only complaint was that there was too much food. The starters were big enough for a main meal. Ros had deep fried mushrooms with a dip and salad. I had the smoked haddock in a three cheese sauce baked in the oven, salad with hot roll and butter. The main course was Beef and stilton pie, with fresh veg and potato's. Ros had the Chateau Brieanne (sp) again with veg and fries. We couldn't manage a sweet, so were back home soon after 9.00 pm.

I see we are still in suspenders over the present for Cassie.

Ann, your MIL is one on her own. I don't know anyone like her !!!!

I tried setting up the computer, but not doing very well. I will get help from Jonathan, when he has time.

Old sweaty feet then Mel. Fancy wearing those willies in this weather.!!!

Good luck to your Frank for further interviews. Also your daughter with her application.

Ros went out with the girls yesterday to Henley on Thames to a warehouse and art centre that has everything you could ever need for all types of sewing. Of course she came back with more material for blanket and cover making.

I was on Skype this morning to Jan when the computer shut down and re-booted itself after carrying out loads of tests. I don't know what happened there. She is coming home next Tuesday, and going back on the 16th June, to be there for when we arrive, and will stay for a few weeks. Her daughter Jo and G'Daughter Ella are going out a week after we come home. So she will be there for their holiday as well. Conrad is, I am sure pleased to have her company for a good period of time. He is so busy, he's not getting home till 8.30 in the evening.

Have been to the nurse this morning for my injection, and was glad to get home and into shorts, it's very warm out there again today, even though we had rain in the night. I don't know where these THUNDER STORMS have got to.!!!

Ros has just finished a basket full of ironing, and is now hovering through.

Give Thomas a stroke for me Jane, he sounds a perfect pet and companion.
<3 <3

Have a good day everyone, and enjoy your lunch Mandy, if you haven't all ready had it. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Morning all and eveningKim,

Dull here this morning with grey skies.

Ann it is good the endoscopy was clear for MIL but what a silly lady going without her walker. did she do herself any damage falling like that? Your skin gets so thin as you get older the slightest knock and you either bruise of cut yourself. I only have to walk past my rose bushes and I am covered in scratches and I did'nt think I had got that near to them!!

Hope you have a better day tomorrow for your anniversary Mandy and you and Colin have az nice time whatever you do.

I wonder if Frank is trying to sort his new pc out??

Come on Franky Boy lets hear from you please?

Yes Liz has thanked my for Cassies Pressy by email and now we are both going to keep you in suspenders for a few more days!!!! Ha ha ha.

Saw the doe deer outside the bedroom window when I got up this morning and she is a lovely rusty red colour and her coat looks really smooth and in good condition. She was strolling along over the back field behind our garden and the chickens they have a bit they mow as a fire barrier. It is supposed to be 20 yards wide but they only mow a toppers width so people from the big house can walk along there if the wish.

Evening all

I've had problems with my internet so haven't been able to get online until now.

I've spent most of the day with my mum as she's had to have her elderly cat put down, the cat's been ill for some time now and although she didn't want to be without her she new it had to be done, so she was very upset as you can imagine. OH has buried the cat in mum's garden down the bottom where it's quiet and has dug a very deep hole as their our foxes about and he didn't want them digging her cat up.

Sounds like you're having fun with your Thomas, Jane. Maybe using the scratch board indoors would save your furniture, it might be worth a try.

Sorry to hear your MIL had a fall Ann, how did she manage to forget her walker, I don't suppose she'll make that mistake again. It does sound like your FIL should be taking it easy and staying home a bit more, but like you said it's what they are both used to, so will probably carry on doing things their way no matter what you say. Glad to hear the endoscopy was clear though, that must of been a weight of your OH's mind.

Happy Anniversary Frank for the other day, sorry it's late but like I said I couldn't get online. Just incase I have more problems tomorrow I wish you a Happy Anniversary too Mandy.

Good luck with the open day Pat, hope you get a sale.

Better get this sent incase I lose my internet again, hopefully I'll be back again tomorrow all being well
