I might be wrong but the name "NORMAN" had been banded about. Whether that was a private joke with Conrad I am not sure. But no doubt Jan will know when Ros speaks to her tonight.
Mandy I see Norwich are 2 - 0 up in the play offs, so it looks like they will be back in top flight football next season.
What are you like Mel :-0 :-0 :-0 Not only destroying the Clemitis , but the poor B bees nest as well. I should stay in doors for the rest of the day. if I were you!!!
I have been a real lazy boy today, read my book and nodded on and off. No idea what time the girls will be home.

Afternoon all,
Dull here this morning ,sun peeped through once or twice and that was it !!
Hubby's out doing more of the slabs ,he's getting there now then it will just be the pointing up to do.
Another dear little boy ,he's nice weight Frank, any name yet ?
Nice to see you home Ann, well if they build these other homes they should have to pay for the upkeep of the road too after all they will be using it !! It will be interesting to hear what happens with this Injunction that's been served on him . I carn't believe he thinks he can just buy up parts of other peoples gardens just like that ,what a nerve he has !!
Oh Mel, couldn't you just spit when that happens ,if you cut the buds and put them in a vase would they open ? at least that way you'd get to see the flowers blooming . Jane and Hannah must be well on the way home ,i wonder what the traffic has been like ,busy i bet !!

It's still nice and sunny here and the breeze has come up a bit.
I am so cross with myself!!! :-| :-| :-| Working on the border this morning cutting away at dead stuff, standing back and admireing my clematis with 16 flower buds on, the best it has done yet, went over the back and cut two dead stems off and yes you've guessed it, straight through the two stems of the clematis. It is now all wilted. I am sooooooo cross with myself and then blow me down I disturbed a bumble bees nest hole and they could'nt find their way back in so I came down and did lunch.
Another lovely bouncing baby boy I see frank. Congrats to the parents.

Hi all,
Not a lot happening here as you can imagine. I have put the bins out for tomorrow and Tony's as well.
Still nothing special with the weather, even though it's dry.
Trying something different tonight, I am making a Lamb curry, with all the lovely lamb that's over from last night. I also have a fair few potatoes over, so will try to make Bombay Potato. I have told Ros to bring home some NAN Bread and popadoms. We have plenty of long grain rice, so should be O.K. If it's no good we can have Ham Egg and Chips :-D :-D :-D
Ann I can't believe that all this fuss and to and froing with this builder. and he seems to be getting his own way.. Lets hope the gardens he's trying to buy, that the owners dig their heels in and refuse to sell. It will be interesting to see the outcome of this injunction :-( :-( :-( Lets hope he gets his cumuppence (sp) Like Mel and Liz, I can't believe this is happening.
Breeze is getting up here, and the clouds are building. What's it like elsewhere ???

Afternoon all
I think Jane said she was home today Frank. Congratulations on the new baby boy, have they got a name for him yet?
Sorry to hear of the troubles in the close Ann, not a good thing to come back to. I think Mel's right though the expense of the road should be everyone's responsibility including the new builds.
Off to my mum's shortly just waiting for OH to finish cutting the grass, then after mum's it's off to do a bit of shopping. I've made a chicken casserole this morning, so that'll just need heating up later. BBL

Morning all, evening KIM.
HE'S ARRIVED 10.00 AM THIS MORNING 7 LBS 8 OZ AFTER A "C" SECTION. Jan said the doctors tried to break the waters FIFTEEN TIMES with out anyluck, that's why they went for a "C"section.
Nice to see you home safe and sound Ann. Now you will have to get your finger nd get the garden round to normal. How can it grow so much in a week.???
Having trouble again with by back spacer, so excuse the mistakes.
Ros is out shopping with Carolyn this morning. SO HOME ALONE.. I will settle down with my book for an hour or so.
What am I going to do this week. I see we have Emmerdale. BGT and Corrie from 7.00 pm to 9.30 pm and that's all week long. I can't afford to go to the pub for FIVE NIGHTS so it will have to be the conservatory !!!
Started off sunny, but now it's gone back to normal.
Hope Jane and Hannah are behaving themselves. Did she say they were home today or tomorrow. ???

Surely Ann this builder chap can't just buy other people's gardens at whim?! If they don't want to sell I can't imagine that he can make them?!! Mind you an offer they can't refuse I suppose could play a part!!! It sounds a bit like we had years ago, with planning applied on the garden of our neighbour at the bottom of our property. This was refused , but eventually went through on appeal to the ministry. A strip of someone else's garden (not us!) was bought to provide vehicular access, and that clinched the deal! Nice day here, cloudy, but sunny, if you see what I mean!! We shall do a bit of gardening and then take Merlin out. We shall leave Cassie at home!!!

Morning all and evening Kim,
Cloudy skies but at least it is dry. Just a smidgin of a breeze so perhaps I can get back up the border today.
Ann how on earth can that happen with your Close as the council and the inspectorate turned the application down? It makes no sense at all to have these inspections if they are just going to pass his plans anyway. Sounds to my like a bit of back handing going on. As to the maintainance of the road if new housing is also going to use it they too should pay towards the upkeep on the surface of the road. You can't have one lot of rul;es for so many houses and another set for the new builds surely!! :-0 :-0

Evening All,
It was lovely sunshine as we set off home yesterday, but as soon as we crossed into Devon it was cloudy and gradually got worse all the way homeI We had a couple of short holdups, but you should have seen the queues on the M5 coming down to the West Country!!!! I took over the driving after 100 miles and just carried on all the way home. At least I'm used to the car now and OH did all the hairy driving round the narrow lanes while we were there. Everything at home has grown no end in the past week and the toms are looking healthier now.
Not so good news is that the builder's appeal about his first plans that included the house and 2 bungalows has been successful and allowed!! It makes no sense that the council turn something down and the inspectorate then allow it. These plans included strengthening the road we 4 bungalows are responsible for maintaining and the councillor we spoke to before said a strengthened road would be more expensive to maintain and we didn't sign up to that. :-S Also there will be double the traffic using the road once the new places are built and no-one has said they will be required to contribute to the road maintenance. The neighbour whose front garden boundary is in dispute with the builder said the builder has till next Friday to respond to the Injunction that's been served on him so we'll see what happens about that next. This is a far worse scenario, as the builder will have access to, and told us at the start, that he has plans to buy other gardens behind the bungalows opposite. That would mean even more traffic on the close and it's so narrow with no footpaths you can't walk along it if a car is driving by.
Oh Frank, it's all happening with your friends and family. I would forget the holiday too this time and just claim on the insurance. Health comes first and it's not worth gambling with it by delaying. Also, if it was me I would be too concerned to really enjoy the holiday anyway with that worry hanging over me.
The DNA test is being offered by quite a few sites now if you google but the one I used was An*estry as they had a 25% off offer. Mind you, I see the newspapers are suggesting they aren't that accurate now. :-S
Mandy I went to a talk given by a geneticist at a family history group a couple of years ago and he said that if someone had romany ancestry it would show up in their DNA as romany origins were in India. My supposedly 'romany' ancestry is from travellers whose surname is a respected romany name. Also a lady who worked as an archivist/researcher for over 40 years and who has an extensive romany database has a thread on Genes and she found my gt grandfather on it so that also made me think I must have romany blood!! lol. Now I'm thinking 'Irish tinkers'. :-S Can I see Jake's cake please. :-)
Liz, we met some Dutch friends in the south of France many years ago. I remember them plying me with Schnapps in tiny glasses, but boy it made my eyes water!!
I've only skimmed through the posts so will catch up properly tomorrow. I don't feel like we've been away now, it's been such a dull old day.

I'm glad we have hard from Gill as I wondered if her mum was bad again and she had been looking after her. Hope the tests are ok when mum has them Gill.
I have been up the border picking up the stuff I cleared the other day and doing some weeding. Trouble is by the time I get to the end it's like the fourth bridge it is time to start at the other end again.
Our poor old pheasent is having trouble breathing and I think she is on the out but we shut her in each night and she comes out in the morning. She got raped by a usurper (sp) yesterday twice while I was'nt far away from hwer but managed to rescue her both times. Today I think it was the resident pheasident Phil who got at her. We have popped her in her hutch for the night now.

Hi Everyone
I've been so busy the last few days, the weather here has been so sunny and hot that I took advantage of it and sorted some more of the garden out, there's still a lot more to do but the weather is dry until the end of the week so I can do a bit a day and hopefully it'll be sorted by the time the weather changes back to rain.
Sorry to hear about your friends Frank. I agree with the other's the operation is far more important than a holiday and the insurance will cover the loss. I also think it might be time to cancel the credit cards if you still haven't found them. Better to be safe than sorry.
Your poor hand Mel, good job you still had some cream left over, do you know what's causing it??
I bet you can't wait for your friends to arrive Liz, you're certainly organised with plans A B and C :-D :-D.
I'm off to my mum's again tomorrow she's still worried about the extra tests she has to have on her heart and is really worried she might need an operation. I think she just wants someone to talk to and always feels better by the time I leave, so I must be doing and saying the right things.
Was the DNA test off Ancestry Ann. It sounds really interesting, shame you didn't get the results you were hoping for, but still interesting never the less <3.
Sounds like Jake had some lovely presents for his birthday Mandy.
Going to watch Sunday night at the palladium now and then an early night.

We too had a delicious lunch today, and will just have an omelette each for supper. Frank I would be cancelling those credit cards, you can't be too careful with them. It would worry me to death not being able to find them!! Surely your friend can postpone his holiday and go another time? If the hospital have recommended an early operation, he really ought to heed them. As I said, my cousin died as the result of letting a melanoma go on too long. He was only 53, and it spread very quickly. It can be very serious and needs addressing. Perhaps his wife will persuade him. Countryfile, and Home Fires tonight. We're recording BBC 1.

Evening all.
Have just finished dinner. Ros was very impressed with my cooking, clean plates from both of us.I have cooked enough potato's for her to have a feast later, with a salad and cold meat or salmon.
Went to the pub for the last game of the season. I managed to watch West Ham who lost 2 --0. but that's no big deal. We ended up mid table.
No news from anyone this evening, so I assume everything is going to plan
With the money our friends have I am sure they have insurance, but knowing him, he won't want anything to interrupt his plans.
Liz, I remember in the late 60s we had some friends over from Holland. We tried to find food they liked, but they seemed to like our food anyway, so no big problem.
Not the most wonderful day today, weather wise, showers and clouds. Now a very still warm evening. Time to strip off !!!
Have a good evening folks., Still no sign of Credit cards.

Afternoon all,
The day started off nice and sunny and we went to the park with son and family ,the children had fun on all the new climbing frames and swings ,even a new zip wire and sand pit , the council have just finished renewing all the old equipment ,it must have cost a fortune the climbing frame was huge ,they are not made of metal any more this one was all made with ropes !! i wouldn't have wanted that job of working out what rope went where ,it was like a giant maze of ropes .
We then called in to see sister and BIL they were busy in the garden but had just stopped for a coffee so we stopped and had a coffee with thm by the time we got home the rain had started so no working in the garden today .
Frank, Jake had a new play station and lego, money, clothes, all sorts of things. Still no baby !!! she's having a very long labour poor girl :-0 Your poor friends are having a time of it , he really should think about getting sorted at the hospital with his cancer before thinking about going on holiday ,he should get his money back for some thing like that happening , Have you found the purse yet ?
Perhaps you didn't use the cream quite long enough on your hand Mel, it's good you still have some left to use again on it . I love sweet Peas , i tried planting some the year before last but they didn't do very well, we have put a few runners in this year but there's no sign of them coming through yet !!
So not too long Liz before your friends arrive , lets hope the weather is good for them so you can take them out and about .

Not sure about the trap Mel! But we have got one or two places we want to take them, it all depends on the weather a bit as to what we do. We Have plan A, B, and C up our sleeve, so we should be covered whatever happens!! Wet here earlier, but it's clearing up now. OH has planted out French beans, and spinach. Runners and sweet peas are well on the way up their nets, so, we're getting there- slowly!!!

O Frank what an awful thing to have happened before such an expensive holiday. How long were they going for? I would certainly have the op on the cancer as priority as Liz said they must have had insurance for a trip costing that much.
Is it Tony who takes you down the pub Frank?
Will you have to cut his grass while they are away?
Poor Martine are both the boys in the same hospital?
Liz you are planning ahead. Hope your friends have a lovely stay. Will you take them out in the trap for a ride around? Love to Merlin and Cassie.

Oh dear Frank, Your poor friends. What sort of skin cancer has your friend got? The most serious is malignant melanoma, (my cousin died after contacting this) but this also has degrees of agressivness, so it all depends. Quite honestly if the hospital are recommending an immediate operation, then he'd do as well to cancel the holiday! Presumably they've got cancellation, (for whatever reason,) insurance. We always take this out as you never know!! The knee may well have to wait, for me the skin cancer would override anything else! Our friends arrive on 4 th June Mandy, we're picking them up at the airport during the morning. At the moment we're planning menus! OH and I went round Waitrose last week and managed to sort out what meals are both easy and suitable, so we're going to write it down and hopefully it'll go smoothly. OH will do a lot of the cooking, so it should be ok as he's good at it and an excellent organiser! Must get on with lunch. OH is making some Yorkshire puds so the oven needs to go on! Hope your friends recover soon Frank.
