Oh dear Frank, Your poor friends. What sort of skin cancer has your friend got? The most serious is malignant melanoma, (my cousin died after contacting this) but this also has degrees of agressivness, so it all depends. Quite honestly if the hospital are recommending an immediate operation, then he'd do as well to cancel the holiday! Presumably they've got cancellation, (for whatever reason,) insurance. We always take this out as you never know!! The knee may well have to wait, for me the skin cancer would override anything else!
Our friends arrive on 4 th June Mandy, we're picking them up at the airport during the morning. At the moment we're planning menus! OH and I went round Waitrose last week and managed to sort out what meals are both easy and suitable, so we're going to write it down and hopefully it'll go smoothly. OH will do a lot of the cooking, so it should be ok as he's good at it and an excellent organiser!
Must get on with lunch. OH is making some Yorkshire puds so the oven needs to go on!

Well it all seems to be happening here.

Our friend John, Carolyn's oh has been diagnosed with skin CANCER. The hospital want to have him in and operate. The trouble id they are off to U.S.A on 3rd June for tours of the National Parks. At the cost of £15,000.00 I don't think they will want to cancel it. He is also booked in to have a knee replacement when he gets back from holiday.

Martine's OH Brian is still with the catheter, and his son is in Hospital. They have just removed his Gaul Bladder.

I AM THINKING OF BATTENING DOWN THE HATCHES AND STAYING IN DOORS FOR THE NEAR FUTURE :-D :-D :-D :-D

Tony and Val next door went off this morning with a door to door holiday company. They have gone to Eastbourne for a week.

No news on the BABY FRONT again this morning. ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

Ros has the ironing board up and tackling the basket of washing.. I will be going in the kitchen soon to scrape the potato's and prepare the veg for dinner tonight. Roast Leg of Lamb with fresh home made Mint Sauce. Cauli, carrots, peas (fresh) Broad beans, Runners (NOT MINE) lol

We have had rain this morning, leaving the day damp and overcast.

Not so nice here today its cloudyand rained in the night.

My hand has returned well the spots on the side of the palm so I am using the cream again. It feels prickly today.

Was hopeing to do a bit more inthe garden but don't think I shall if the rain continues.

Have a real lazy day today. No news on the baby front. When Ros spoke to Jan this afternoon KERRY (her daughter) was bouncing about on one of those big balls.!! What good that will do I don't know. The baby will come when ready. :-D :-D

No news on the PURSE I can see I am going to have to search her bags and coats to see if I can find it.

Have heard from my friends wife this afternoon. He is having a P.E.T. SCAN this afternoon, to see how far the cancer has gone.

No sunshine here today, but it did show it's face late afternoon.

Sorry I missed Jake's birthday yesterday Mandy. I bet he had a good day. What presents did he have ?? anything exciting ??

Ben inthe garden most of the day after lunch. Cutting down brimbles out of the rose bushes down the side of the back garden. also cut the grass along the front of my shed with the shears and it takes it out of you now I am getting old I have to come in andhave a rest every now and then

Fillet steak for dinner with mushrooms toms broc and chips for oh and a few new tatoes for me left over from yesterday. I am not really keen on chips.

Mmandy you will feel better once Colin has laid the rest of the patio but I know what you mean about it looking a bomb site. :-0 What was the top of the cake like for Jake's birthday. You told us that your son had ordered one but you did'nt tell us what it was.

Really quiet on here today, are you all out in the nice sunshine ? that's if you've had the sun ,it's been lovely and warm here ,hubby decided he would relay all the patio slabs where we have the swimming pool in the summer ,the garden now looks like a bomb site !! he's relayed half that he took up it will look better once he's finished ,i think the weight of the pool has moved the slabs over the years .

That's interesting about the results of the DNA Ann , you certainly are quite a mix :-D

Ann that's very interesting data regarding your ethnicity. Where do you get that done ?? It sounds like something, I could get into. Perhaps Ros could buy it for me for our anniversary next month.

Lewis and his family are in France now for a week during his half term. I bet it will be warm out there.

Well it's a beautiful day today once again with sunshine and blue sky with a few white fluffy clouds. Sods law as Ann and Co are coming home today. I wonder if they have left yet? Knowing them they have.

Anyone got plans for the weekend???? We hav'nt, just pickling about apart from going up the shop for the paper.

There's a few jobs I need to do in the garden and then there is always the border to keep me out of mischief.

Frank you soon got cracking in the garden to get everything back up to scratch. What a blow Ros losing the purse with her cards in. I hope she's found it now as it is such a nuisance having to cancel them and wait for replacements. You've had a bit of bad luck lately haven't you.

Mel it's a good job that bunny doesn't know you have a gun!!! Yes, I'd forgotten about Hartland Quay and now it's too late. It might have been a bit far as you say though and I know with Devon Show being on tomorrow OH won't want to detour and risk traffic holdups on the way home.

It's been quite hot and sunny today and I was sweltering walking around this afternoon. Now everything is virtually packed to go home and looking outside the sea mist has rolled in like a thick fog. I hope it isn't still there in the morning for driving. :-S

I've had the results of my DNA test come through on line. I'm quite shocked as my ethnicity is:

48% Ireland
28% Europe West
13% Scandinavia
10% Great Britain
and about 1% Italy/Greece

No Romany roots after all and I had no idea at all about any Irish connection. From others who have done the DNA test they give you a list of likely cousins too and who has a family tree on the site and top of the list was my cousin I recently found!!

O dear Frank both washing lines broken under the strain of all that washing.

It has been dry here all day after a rainy night. I put the camera out and got the rabbit digging out the hole and going down to feed the new litter. Coming out again and covering them up early this morning. BUT there was rain on the lens so a lot of it was blurred.

I have done some sweeping outside the shed and shot at a rabbit in the orchard but only winged it. It did'nt go away very fast but had gone over the bank by the time I reloaded the gun. Thats two I have winged this week.

Sorry to hear about your friend Frank that you have known all your life and poor martine's hubby not having a wee for almost a week. You would have thought he would have gone to the docs before now to get emptied out! Poor man. Lets hoe they can sort him out quickly.

Where is everyone ???

We don't seemed to have stopped all day. Ros with all the washing, changing the bed. Fortunately it's stayed dry, so all the washing is dried and folded ready for ironing.

I have been pottering all day, plenty to keep me busy in the garden. Watered all the front garden and pots, hanging baskets and greenhouse. Green Thumb called this afternoon and treaded the lawns, and said how nice I keep the lawns , praise indeed. !!!

It seems that Ros has mislaid a purse with all of her CREDIT CARDS in. She has been through about SIX BAGS, but can't find them. I don't want to cancel them all as it will mean mine as well as we have the same cards in both our names. She is sure she hasn't lost them outside the house, as she never uses them, She only uses the joint account Debit Card, which she has in her current purse.

We are both stressed out this afternoon, and are getting on each others nerves. She doesn't seem to realise that loosing these cards it quite serious. and it will be my job to sort it out !!!

Both the retractable line and the rotary line have broken today. So I have been on line and ordered two new ones (MORE EXPENSE) What else to going to happen this week.???

Afternoon all,

Was up at 6.30 am. Had plenty of tea. Then thought I would have a cooked breakfast. (didn't have one all week) so I had eggs, bacon, sausage and baked beans, two slices of B & B and more tea.

I mentioned that Green Thumb was due today, well as yet he hasn't shown, but it has given me time to cut both back and front lawns and trimmed the edges.

I thought I would up date you with more photo's of the garden. There I was clicking away, after about eight shots I thought that would be enough. When I opened the camera the card was missing. IT WAS STILL IN THE COMPUTER !!!! So I might take some later.

The kitchen is stacked with dirty washing, A line of whites are out now, with two more lines of colours to go.

I am keeping my eye on the weather as it looks like we might get rain !!! (just for a change)

Ros bought Pat some flowers for looking after the Greenhouse and plants etc. She came round to thank her this morning, and said that most days it rained so only needed to top up the trays in the greenhouse once.

No news of the baby yet. Jan has just phoned. She is not allowed to stay with her daughter at the hospital. They have told her they will phone her as soon as anything happens.

I just had some bad news. My old friend who I have known all my life. is in hospital with throat CANCER. They are doing various tests, to see the best way to tackle it. So a very worrying time for all his large family

I trust your ex SIL is making progress Liz, You hear so many of these operations now, far more than when we were young. !!!

Martine's husband Brian has been rushed into hospital with a very large prostate He hasn't had a wee since last weekend. They have fitted a catheter and bag, and are carrying out tests on his also.

Where has the morning gone. I bet Jane and Hannah are well on their way now. Hope they don't get caught up in traffic :-| :-| :-|

Well Jane and Hannah will be off now and I hope they have a safe journey and don't get into too many traffic jams with road works like poor Frank and Ros did.

It is dull today and it started raining that very fine stuff last night and don't think it stopped. I had put my camera out too as the rabbit has dug the old nest out again and covered it up so she must have another litter in there. I did see her with a mouth full of dead grass the other day when I went to corn the chickens but she ran into the back field behind the chicken run.

I hope Jane remembers a paint brush to put the wet and forget on the stones and does it on a dry day so it can dry on the stone.

Raining on and off here this morning, but not cold :-D

Getting my things ready for tomorrow morning , I have been roped into joining Messy Church at our church, it's for parents & children between babies in prams to P7, they can come along on certain Saturday mornings to join in the fun , We follow the Church Calendar events ,crafts, bible stories , singing and a light lunch is put on. starts 10.30am-12.30pm,
This month we are celebrating PENTECOST , so im helping one of the other ladies to make decorated biscuits & cakes with red icing for fire, and matchmakers as wood logs,
Its a great way to get Mums & dads & kids to come along to church if they can't make it to the usual sunday service, surprising how many people are uncomfortable in a church setting.

Nice to hear everyone is better now Fiona <3. Poor little Matteo, hopefully it won't take him long to realise it's a good place to be where he can make friends and have fun, give him time then he'll be running inside without giving it a thought. It is heart-breaking to see them upset but he'll soon get used to it.

Hope you're not to achy this morning Mel. Maybe you should get someone else to clean the car for you, it would save your back.

Going to give my mum a ring now, she had some bad news about the tests she had on her heart the other week and has to go back for more tests now. I went to see her yesterday and as you can imagine she's a bit worried. I haven't told her about my problems, I didn't think she needed the stress so spent some time with her trying to calm her down. She was much better by the time we left, but I'd like to check on her so will go now and give her a call.

I have been awake for ages,so went downstairs and made a pot of porridge ,brought it back to bed and turfed Chris out :-D..I need to do my toenails(varnish),as I am going to wear open sandals and I don't have the nicest nails they need prettying up a bit :-D
