Gill, your hubby does still work, and from the sound of it very long hours too, so there is some excuse!! When he retires(?!) I'm sure he'll help you more about the house/garden, that was my experience for what it's worth!! Dull day here and I've done two loads of washing thinking it was going to be fine!! hopefully the sun will come out later! Frank, I'm sending you a pic of our Wisteria!! It was only put in last year, so I live in hopes that it will (one day) be as beautiful as yours!!!

Morning all
The sun's trying it's best to come out, but there is quite a bit of cloud about so I don't hold out much hope of good weather today.
It's not very often people are honest Ruby and to fix your post, that was nice of him. It must of been a big spider to frighten him so much that he crashed his car. At least everything is sorted now.
Love the photo's Frank, your garden is so full of colour, both you and Ros have worked so hard and it shows. Sounds like you've been very busy indoors as well Frank. I think my OH is allergic to the iron :-D :-D. He cuts the grass but hates weeding, so that's left to me and everything else I do too.

Hello all,
Your garden is a picture Frank. I do miss the lilac :-(
Mother's Day here too. I got to celebrate for three days. My daughter and her hubby took me and his parents out for a meal Friday. We went to an all-you-can-eat buffet, and I always get my money's worth. I was filled to the brim. Then yesterday, I went with some of the family to a grand-daughter's graduation from University ceremony. It's the one who was married last July. She starts her new job Tuesday. Afterwards, we went to a Chinese all-you-can-eat buffet, and I left there full of plumptiousness :-D :-D Today we had a lovely church service, and then my youngest son and grandson, took me out - to a buffet. Everywhere was very busy, but everyone were in good humour and didn't seem to mind the wait. Needless to say, I won't need to eat anything else today. :-D All the ladies were given a pretty carnation as they left.
Mel, be careful of inhaling any kind of dust - can cause horrible damage to the lungs. We just don't realize how bad it can be, until we see the effects of it on someone.
Yesterday morning, I was about to take my shower to get ready for the Grad. ceremony, when a young man came to the door. I just poked my head out because I was in my nightie (not a pretty sight), but he was the grandson of a neighbor a few doors down, and he was in a bit of a state. Apparently he was driving by and saw a spider in his vehicle, swerved and hit my mailbox. I thought he meant just the mailbox and told him that was okay; that I'd get it fixed. He said "Oh no, the whole thing is on the ground." He insisted he was going to Lowes to get me a new one, so I told him we'd share the cost, but he wouldn't hear of it, so I told him to just leave it on the porch and I'd get it taken care of. When I came home late afternoon, the new post was up, with the old mailbox attached. I knew it was the old box because it had loads of bird poop on it, but the ground was all cleared up and the old post gone. It probably was rotten anyway. I bet his granddad helped him with the job. I'm still going to offer half the cost. He was honest and came to tell me - that means a lot, because I certainly didn't hear it.
I shall watch the English programmes tonight. I have enjoyed Wolf Hall.
Tata for now. I hope your weather soon improves. Like Shirl, we've had it in the 80's for a couple of weeks - is going to be hotter this coming week. When it gets past 85' I don't go out in the afternoon.

Yes Liz, I have had a good T.V. looking in, with all that's been going on.
Roast beef was very nice, but I was not in the mood for eating 6.00 pm. So I only picked at mine, Ros cleared her plate
I did the edges of the lawn this afternoon. I was too hot to be indoors. When I came in we had NAT GEO on. David Attenborough was very easy to listen too and watch. in between my zzzzz !!!!
The serial is on tonight at 9.00 pm I will watch that, then have a shower and get to bed, I feel worn out.
Liz it's surprising how easy the garden is now. Over the years we have added lots of things that take care of themselves apart from keeping them trimmed (ROS'S JOB) The bulbs come up year after year, and look after themselves also. I never touch the wisteria, I've always wanted it to grow over the garage. I don't know how the Clemitas got up into the cherry tree, it was planted to go over the fence, but it certainly adds a bit of colour now the blossom has gone.
Going to have a look on Ebay for a while, better than sitting watching the rubbish that's on at the moment.
See you in the morning

Frank your garden looks wonderful and thank you for the photos. Somebody?! has worked really hard to create such a display, and all credit to them. I think awarding yourself husband of the year is more than well deserved! OH is pretty good in this house particularly on the cooking front, but nothing like you, he did hoover the other day, (first time for ages!!) and he is good on the shopping front, occasionally washes up (fills the dishwasher!!) and helps clean windows if asked!! Oh, and will help prepare veg- sometimes!! Just off out now to play with our baby (OH does do that too!!)

Just finished watching the V.E service and parade on TV. What a fantastic show, and what a fantastic generation they were and everyone so lucky to have such a lovely day (weatherwise) for it in London. The flypast was superb, but a pity about the Lancaster, still it should be up and running for the air shows this summer which means it SHOULD fly over us at some stage! TV firmly off in this house till this evening as too much of it gets on both our nerves! OH finishing off getting lunch - a joint effort today on the cooking front!

Afternoon all, I didn't bother again yesterday, as the service was very slow, and I thought I would have trouble posting.
What a lot has happened in the last few days. 70th Anniversary celebrations were great. I was stuck in front of the T.V. for the Cenotaph service, and again last night for the one at Horse Guards. I had a good cry by myself, with all the old memories and the wonderful songs of the time. I have watch the Westminster Abbey service this morning also, some of it was very high CHURCH for me. But that's how it is.
WELCOME TO SHIRL !!! WHO IS SHE ??? A NEW ONE FOR MY HAREM !!! HOW ARE YOU BUGG## LUGS. GLAD TO SEE YOU ABOUT AGAIN. WE DO MISS YOU, YOU KNOW. TRY NOT TO LEAVE IT SO LONG <3 <3 <3
Mel you must try to be more careful lifting these heave pots, you will do yourself a mischief.
I awarded myself "HUSHBAND OF THE YEAR AWARD" Yesterday morning as soon as Ros went out 10.10 am. I set too and cleaned the oven, did a basket of ironing, (apart from her tops) I would never do those right,!!! Then I hovered through the bungalow.
I thought I deserved a couple of pints, so went down the pub to watch the match.
This morning I have cut the back lawn (Don't they grow quick) lol and sent you all a few photo's.
Veg all done this morning during the service. Podded the peas sitting in my chair, also the runners and HER broad beans.
Mandy I don't blame you leaving the coast run till a week day. You will have the place to yourselves.
Ann, I am so pleased that your in-laws are accepting help from Social Services. They have to realise at there age they NEED and DESERVE some help.
Turned very cloudy here and the wind is getting up, I think we might be in for some WET STUFF. I have watered the greenhouse and fed the tomato's so I can relax until I have to start cooking later this afternoon.
Take care and don't over do things in the garden YOU OLD PEOPLE :-D :-D :-D
I've just got my TIN HELMET out !!!!

Afternoon all,
Nice and sunny here today the wind seems to have dropped too.
Not going to the coast the family had other things to do ,i'am glad really as i want to do a bit more weeding and hubby wanted to see the race ,i'd rather go in the week when it's not so busy and easier to park too.
I some times think people just like to have a nosey round other peoples homes Gill ,but as you say it's wasting your time , lets hope the lady who's already looked at yours will come back for another viewing soon ,i'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
Right think i'll get a slice of sponge and a cuppa before i start on this weeding . BBL

Looks like it might rain soon, the sky's gone really dark.
Hope the weather hold out for you Mel, while you sort your girls out. Have you found your painting's yet, I'd love to see them. I wish I could paint or draw, I envy people who have the talent. I've never heard of the word wither in that context, but it does sound a nice word. Yes let's hope Lewis can overtake, but he did say it was difficult to overtake on this track. Luckily he's 27 points in the lead at the moment, but I'll still be hoping he get's a good start and overtakes Rosberg at the start of the race.
Not much going on here today, Sandra is watching her programs then we are going to watch a film called cats and dogs I recorded.
All the housework is done because of the viewing yesterday, although they ended up being yet another bunch of time wasters. The Agent told us they had nothing to sell, but when OH asked them they said they do have to sell their place to be able to buy another one and it's not even on the market yet.
They'd sold their property once before, but couldn't find anything to buy so had to pull out of the sale, so this time they want to find something before putting theirs on the market. I suppose it makes sense but it wastes our time.
On a positive the lady who came round a few weeks ago, we finally got some feedback, probably because I asked for it, but she only has one more bungalow to view then she's going to make a decision, so you never know she might come back for a second viewing. She is the one who has dogs and loves the garden but was a bit worried about how she was going to cut the grass.
I've just got access to a Genes members tree, she is my 5th cousin so I'm going to take a look at it now. BBL <3

Morning all and evening Kim,
Gill I was sorry to see Lewis only got 2nd position but as he is a better driver than Rosberg lets hope he manages to get past him. There is usually only seconds in it but I did'nt see the qualifyers yesterday as oh watched it in the bedroom and I was doing other things.
Bit dull today with a cold breeze too. Dos'nt look as though it is going to brighten up either.
I typed wither instead of Either there. You don't hear that nowadays do you? Quite a nice word that.............wither............ :-D
I should be cleaning the chickens out today, the big ones but will have to see how windy it is as it blows all the shavings in my face if its too high and with the powder I put in there it takes your breath away and you are not supposed to breath it in.

Dry day so far here, they say it's going to warm up a bit, but only till Wednesday :-(.
I didn't know you painted Mel. Love to see some when you've found them. Sorry to hear you hurt your tum, hope it's feeling better today.
Isn't that annoying Frank when you lose a post, it puts you off trying again, then you end up saying half of what you originally said. Did you manage to watch the program I told you about. I watched it and found it very interesting.
Going to watch the F1 today, a bit disappointed Lewis Hamilton only got 2nd position on the grid behind his team mate Rosberg in the qualifying yesterday but hope he can still go on to win :-D :-D.
Going to get another cuppa now BBL

I like Apricot things Mandy, so would be wanting to slice into your cake straightaway!! :-D The cheesy quiche with new pots and salads sounded great too. :-)
I have to do most things in short bursts now or I get the same back problem or my knees hurt. Like you Mel I have to bend over from the hips and can't squat down like I used to. It still gets things done though, even if you can't finish things in one go. I'm glad your tum feels a bit easier now.......you don't want to get a hernia. :-S I got OH to lift my pots onto a stool for me to plant them yesterday and I have put plastic plant pots that fit snugly into some of them with polystyrene underneath in the pot for them to stand on. Then I can lift just the plastic pot out to plant up and then place it back in the heavy pot.
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY AND NICE TO HEAR FROM YOU SHIRL. YES IT DOES LOOK LIKE YOU WILL BE DOG SITTING WITH ALL THOSE ADDITIONS! I HADN'T HEARD OF THOSE HEELERS EITHER TILL I WATCHED CESAR MILAN, THE DOG WHISPERER. HE HAD TO HELP A LADY WITH ONE THAT WAS TRYING TO ROUND HER UP ALL THE TIME AND WAS ALMOST NIPPING HER HEELS!! CRIKEY, YOU'VE GONE FROM SNOW TO BOILING HOT PRETTY QUICK!!! :-)
The painting fell down off the shelf the other day and I never noticed and nearly trod on it!! Yes, hunt out your paintings Mel. I didn't know you did paintings other than on those tiny plates you showed me.
It looks like Frank gave up the ghost today after losing his post first thing!
Off to bed now, it's gone really cold again here.......night night x.

Hi to Shirl and happy mothers day to you too. Up in the 80's ah that sounds nice after all the snow you have had.
It must be the spring that is making you all get dogs!! :-D :-D
Tum feels better now thank you Mandy. I had a bit of a sit down for a while. I think I crease it up when I bend over. I have always bent from my hipsand not bent my knees. Thing is if I bend my knees I can't get up again...... vicous circle when you want to do your gardening. I may even put my bean plants in the bag tomorrow but they say the warmer weather is'nt going to stay.
I shall have to seek out some of my paintings if I have still got them. Trouble with me is I put things away in a safe place and can never remember where I have put them. Since having the gardens here to do I hav'nt done any painting for years.

Afternoon All,
Oh that's a pain Frank!! I always leave it a bit when it happens to me as it puts me right off!!
I hope so Mandy, but you can never tell with her. She can so easily change her mind again, but OH hopes she is recognising they have no choice now. But yes, at least we feel less worried now that more help has been arranged again and people will be going in regularly. I meant to ask if they will be able to help your son's back problem now he's had the scan?
I must get all the washing done the next few days before we are away next weekend! I think it is supposed to be dry for a few days now which is good. When we get back we need to check when our new settees will be here as they said sometime in May. The cane conservatory chairs are ok but not the same as the settees for sprawling on!
I bet they probably are your hogs Mel and it's good to see they have come through the winter ok and are scrapping over the food!! lol. We could do with them here to eat some of our snails. OH only put the runners in the ground yesterday and the snails have been at them already. I've put some snail bait down near them now. They've even been eating our irises, which they don't usually bother with.
I'm off to do a few errands now, OH is at a match as usual.
