Would you Adam and Eve it, Here I was typing away and the screen froze, and went onto "VOUCHER ALERT" whatever that is. When I clicked the back arrow, I got back to the thread but my posting was GONE.

Will get back to you all later.

Morning all,

Bright and breezy here this morning ,washing is out but the black clouds are looming ,i will have to keep an eye out for the rain .

We've got nothing really planned for the week end ,might take the family to the coast tomorrow if it is a decent day weather wise .

Do you think MIL is finally accepting that they do need help Ann ? having the cleaner back is a start i suppose ,and it must have eased your mind a little knowing they have a little help for FIL each day too.

Oh washer has finished another load better i'd get them pegged out ,then i think i will make a sponge .

Morning all and evening Kim,

Brighter today at the moment so lets hope it stays this way.

I saw three hogs all together last night. They were all about the same size so I am thinking they couldpossibly be the young ones I fattened up before the winter. There was a bit of the old rough and tumble between two of them over a food bowl. One was pushed away and stayed still till the other one had moved down the garden to another food bowl. It was very late and I had to leave them to it.

Evening All,

Well, at least No 10 won't need completely redecorating now like it would with a new Prime Minister, so that's one expense saved!! :-D Hopefully there will be more focus now instead of the setbacks of endless compromise when 2 parties are doing the job.

Yes, I bet Cassie is full of beans Liz and only needs a few naps to recharge her batteries!! If only we were the same!!

Beading class was cancelled today. OH weeded the front and dug out a couple of shrubs, then planted the runners this morning. Then we planted up a few pots and wall pots as I want them done before we go away. If a frost is forecast I shall be out with plastic carrier bag 'bonnets' for them.

After lunch we dropped off our bags of paper shreddings at the smallholding and called to check MIL and FIL were ok. A carer will call morning and night now to help FIL to dress, wash and undress. The cleaner has been reinstated, hopefully for longer than before! It made us smile after, but MIL said she's arranged for her hairdresser to call fortnightly to wash/cut/shampoo FIL's hair. Well I reckon Princess Charlotte has probably got more hair than he has as it's thin on top and MIL makes him have the rest cut as short as a skinhead's!! A couple of flannels, one soapy, would easily wash and rinse it.

I agree Mel and Frank. We should never forget those that sacrificed their lives for us all. A few minutes silence to remember them is the least we can do.

Good for you Mel. I also don't remember the war as I was only two years and four months when it ended, but as you all know, that along with thousands of others, my mother and I were profoundly affected and it is good to see that people are mindful of what happened all those years ago.
Lasagne and garlic bread for our supper. Nice and easy and not much clearing up!!!

Did my shopping and I went to Bideford. While I was in there over the loud speaker came a voice saying that at 3pm they were having a mins. silience so would we all join in please. We mostly did and everyone in the aisle I was in stood stock still but one young girl who was on her phone and carrying on doing her shopping. Also saw a man walk past our aisle who was still going around the shop.

I am to young to have known the war but I still think you should respect those who gave their lives so we could live a better one. Many of us lost family in the war and I only think is is right to give a little of our time for those who lost their entire lives for their country.

Right thats off my chest......................now we have a nice little peice of roast loin of pork for tonight with new pots brocc and green beans roast onion and stuffing for oh.

Well washing watch went well. I noticed that it was raining, and got everything in
. It was almost dry enough for ironing, so I folded the sheets and pillow cases. My U/pants are on the radiators, so can go in my draw a bit later. Handkerchiefs all folded ready for the iron. as are the Tee shirts.

I watch the ceremony also this afternoon, what a great little service it was. I see there will be various things happening tomorrow and Sunday around the Country. "WE SHOULD NEVER FORGET"

I have been asked to be Secretary at the Football Club. Ros said I should, but I am not sure I want or need the commitment. I will think about it over the weekend.

Off to get dinner now. Be good !! or be careful !!! :-D :-D

It's still pouring with rain here Liz, after such a lovely day yesterday. Sounds like Cassie is enjoying herself with her squeaky toy, bless her.

I thought I'd remind you Frank the program I told you about the other week starts tonight. Britain's Greatest Generation. It's on BBC2 at 9pm and is a 4 part series, you said you'd jot it down but just incase you forgot I thought I'd remind you. It's the documentary that tells the stories of the last survivors of the generation who fought or lived through World War II. I'll be watching it myself.

Off to sort out dinner now

magpie Report 8 May 2015 15:51

Just finished watching the service at the cenotaph. It never fails to get to me and the sight of that old chap laying a wreath moved us both to tears. You have to take your hat off to all those old soldiers, what a stalwart generation they were/are.
Well all the excitement is over and OH is now outside putting the finishing touches to the 'cold frame' he has made to give us more greenhouse space. No rain here, yet, but tomorrow looks a bit grim!!
Cassie is playing with her squeaky toy after her training session!! It's all go when you're only 14 weeks old!!!

Gillx Report 8 May 2015 15:47

Afternoon all

Well, the rain's back, it's been pouring down for hours now after such a lovely sunny start to the day.

I'm enjoying 24 hours too. It does look as if some of them aren't taking it seriously though, which spoils it a bit for me.

I've got my tomato plants Frank, bought 4 of them for £1.99 a few weeks ago and they are doing really well. We get them in plug form every year and we have lots of tomatoes all through the summer.
What a shame all your blossom has gone now. The blossom has come out lovely on our big apple tree at the bottom of the garden and we've still got our bluebells in flower so it's looking really nice for the viewing tomorrow. We have another viewing on Thursday so hopefully it'll still look good then too <3 OH cut the grass and trimmed the hedge yesterday so it's all looking tidy now.

How are you getting the internet Maureen if you have no line. Maybe you could leave it as it is if everything is working for free :-D :-D.

Well, it looks like the Conservatives got in, lets see how the country is run for the next five years, David Cameron has promised all sorts, so let's hope he delivers on them.

I'm watching a good film with Sandra at the moment, so I'd better get back to it before I lose track of what's happening.

Maureen

Maureen Report 8 May 2015 15:30

I'm really enjoying the 24 hr programme too, although I don't think Ann Widdicombe is taking it very seriously, you wouldn't have been allowed to stand there in a fit of giggles like she did, she is spoiling it for the rest of them.

I haven't bothered with tomato plants this year Frank. it all seemed too much of a hassle last year for very little tomatoes, it reminds me of a few years back, my dad used to grow all his own in the greenhouse from seeds, he obviously had more than he needed and offered some plants to my brother who said that's okay I'll just have the tomatoes when they grow.

Not a good experience for Sandra but at least she got to vote and you will know for next time Gill, it makes me quite cross when people say they haven't bothered to vote, they are usually the ones who complain the loudest at the way things are run.

The saga continues with T*lk T*alk although to be fair it's not their fault it's BT or Open Reach or whatever they call themselves, I had two engineers come and lay a line outside to the front of the house about a month ago and when the engineer came to activate the line today he found they had only put a rope through and no cable, so I am back to square one again.

Frank

Frank Report 8 May 2015 12:53

Afternoon all,

Not sure what the weather will do here, I went for my injection this morning, and I felt a damping in the air. But it is so warm with hardly any breeze.

Ros has changed the bed and the whites are in the line. She's gone to have her nails done and Tesc#, so I am in charge of the washing watch.!!!

I see THREE have resigned as party leaders. I'm sure I won't miss them. We might also get back to some normality a get the Country going in the right direction again !!! All this petty bickering is not good for us !!

I see it's a very important day today "70th Anniversary OF V E DAY" Now that is something to celebrate. <3 <3 <3 I will never forget that day. !!!

Yes I was in bed by 10,20 last night and didn't rise until 9.00 am. Only got out once at about 4.00 am.
Not a good experience at the polling station Gill, you would think they would have a bit more common sense. But most of these people are "JOBS WORTH" anyway.

I must find time to see the 24 hours and the Canal programme on Catch up. I can only do it when Madam is out. !! Perhaps tomorrow morning when she is out with Martine.

Hardly any blossom on the tree now, the next thing will be the CLEMITAS which has grown right through the branches.

The runner beans are getting up the canes and netting, all the onions and garlic are doing well. The potato's are well up in the bags as are the Broad Beans.

Anyone want any Tomato plants. The three trays of seed that I set are all coming through. I will be able to supply all the neighbours or even the VILLAGE. lol

Can't be bothered with cooking tonight. I have a dish of Spag Bol sauce frozen, so I will get that out and just cook some pasta this evening.

See you later.

No, of course you wouldn't Mel unless you wanted instant dismissal!! Mind you as Ruth Goodman said, there were some brave souls who did question the dodgy practices of the employers! but no doubt they suffered for that!
If I were you Mel, I would certainly be doing my main shop on line, you must have a local deli or farm shop for your meats?!
Taking the baby before it rains!!

It's very quiet on here today..............I am going shopping so see you all later I hope.

My rabbit hole in the big girls run has been dug out and covered up for the third time now so I think she must have kittens again.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 8 May 2015 10:56

Liz when you think about it you would'nt be able to say to your employer that you were'nt doing a certain job Like Ann did in 24 hours.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 8 May 2015 10:54

Morning all and evening Kim,

Cloudy then sunshine here today and more of a wind than yesterday.

Hope Frank feels more rested today and Ros too of course, after their ordeal the other night.

Have to go shopping at some time today as things are starting to run out. Yuk yuk yuk, poo raspberry, raspberry.........I hate it more and more and would have it delivered but I like to choose my own cold meats and fresh meats.

magpie

magpie Report 8 May 2015 09:37

No Mel, we couldn't either, and you're right about some of the tatty paintwork and junk!!!! I thought the end of the program with the view of the aqueduct and the railway was quite stunning. We've also been watching 12 hours etc and really enjoying that as well. That poor lad being rushed off his feet, and Ann Widicombe's walk out!! all good stuff- beautiful horses!
We've been up early, so have done all our jobs, including walking the baby, so are watching the rest of the results, then we're taking Cassie into our neighbours field to practice recall!!!!

Gillx Report 8 May 2015 09:26

Morning all

Another sunny day here but it's forcast to rain heavily later. Good job we got most of the gardens sorted yesterday.

I agree with you Ann about a strange man taking Sandra into the booth, he must of known about the form I needed to fill in before he took her but never mentioned it until after she'd voted. I'd never heard of this form before so had no reason to ask for it. I know for the future now. Luckily everything was ok, but you just don't now nowadays do you.

I'm just going to pop the TV on and see who won. I was really tired last night and ended up having an early night, so haven't got a clue who's won yet.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 7 May 2015 23:12

Liz we watched it the other day. It reminded us of our holiday on the Brecon Canal. I did think that a lot ofg the boats they past needed a good paint up though and some of the junk onboard some was horrendous. At the end you could'nt see where the camera was on the barge they filmed it on could you?

Signing out now so saying night night.
