Oui Ann :-D :-D :-D.....Sadly my French is not good enough. I could manage "Ou est Rue de 'something'..But everyone speaks English so I think with me even trying my very best French they would answer me in English (thank goodness :-D) Ann this could be so interesting with your DNA kit :-D :-D.I hope you find out some really good things from it.
Gill it sounds like you will all be exhausted tonight after a busy Birthday day :-D I bet Sandra is buzzing :-D :-D with all the excitement and her new dress too.

Evening all,
East Enders playing in the background, it can stay there. There is nothing about it that I like. !!
Oh dear Jane, I wouldn't think you would last five minutes walking around the East end and the City.
As a post boy aged 15, I had to find my way round the square mile, and could take you (not now) anywhere you wanted to go, and guarantee I wouldn't get lost. I have been in and out of the old Stock Exchange, the Bank of England, Mansion House, all the various alleys and nooks and crannies, that would give me a short cut to where I had to go. I loved that time in my life. I missed it a great deal when I was put into an office position.
Another little memory popped into my mind this morning. They say TWINS have a therapy between them. Well, when my twin sister found she was expecting her first child. She rang my Mum to tell her, and within TWENTY MINUTES I rang my Mum to say my ex was expecting, AND there is TWENTY MINUTES BETWEEN MY SISER AND I. when we were born. How's that for chance.
Going to watch Midsummer now, might catch you later.

Afternoon All,
<3 <3 HAPPY BIRTHDAY SANDRA <3 <3 I hope you are having a lovely day.
We all looked at our title deeds at the start of the trouble Gill and the boundaries match the gardens. Even though they always say that they are not to scale, the neighbours garden is exactly the same shape as the deeds show, ie flat across the driveway then sticks forward at an angle from the drive. According to the builder he owns the sticking forward part of the garden! He has told the neighbour the deeds are wrong! I will try that with the s*y box. I did switch it off and back on again last night and it seemed ok......then started playing up again.
It was a lovely sunny morning here but the wind got up and made the afternoon chilly. Still at least more washing is done and dried. :-)
Jane you must have seen forced rhubarb for sale......those little pink stems with yellowy leaf bits? We have rhubarb that has moved 3 addresses with me. I must get some cut, pureed and frozen. I love it like that swirled into custard. :-D I am awful with directions too! We come out of shops with OH turning one way and me the other. He finds it hilarious. When I'm on my own somewhere I have to keep looking back for landmarks to spot when I come back!! It's the same in strange multi storey carparks too, I've even written down the level I'm on in case I forget before I come back. I always feel confident on the underground with OH, but I bet I'd end up on the wrong platform on my own at some of the stations!! I think you are quite brave Jane, will you ask directions in French?
I bet Cassie is puzzled and can't understand the gate Liz..
My DNA kit arrived today!! I need to read the instructions next then do it and send it back. I am itching to know where my ancestors are from, especially with the likely romany link I have!!

Thanks Mel. OH has just tabbed it for recording, so that'll be something to watch at a later date. We shall watch Poldark this evening. I don't think I could do the Tube nowadays Jane, when I was nifty was over 20 years ago when my bachelor uncle lived in Highgate and I used to go and stay with him. I had a school friend who lived in Camden Town, and I used to see her at the same time. I haven't been for ages though, as my uncle died some years ago and school friend now lives in New Zealand!!!!

There's a program on BBC 1 tonight called 24 hours in the past. Might be quite interesting. It is 6 celebs experiencing what life was like for the working classes in Victorian Britain.
Just thought it may interest some of you. I shall be having a look at it.
Have a doc's appointment tomorrow morning at 10.15am.

Oh Liz the Undergound is something that puts the fear of God into me.I hate it at the best of times when I am with someone. When I go to Hannahs on the train from here (which I am doing on Friday) I then get a taxi to hers.Chris keeps saying I should use the tube BUT I CAN"T.Not on my own.I get panicky just thinking about it :-S...Heaven knows where I might end up LOL.Hannah does it everyday. I think these places I might want to see on my own in Paris will be ok as they are all in the Latin Quarter which is where we are staying and i can remember some of the streets from last year...Plus I have a tongue in my head and don't mind asking anyone for directions.
Poor Cassie !!! she must wonder what is going on with the gate .Bet her little face is a picture. But she will soon get used to it.Her little nose will be poking through the bars LOL

It's been chilly here today and hubby has just lit the fire ,the chilly wind got up this afternoon which helped to dry the washing .
Glad your feeling a little better Mel.
Jane my sister is like you if we go into a shop together she will always turn the wrong way when she comes out ,no sense of direction at all :-0 :-D
I can remember Dad putting a big bucket over his rhubarb to force it up and when mum cooked it she always put big slices of orange rind in with the rhubarb ,i don't ever remember eating it raw though.
Son has been putting together a new bed for Lacey ,she was in the cot bed and now they need that for Lewis ,they had a mattress from another bed that they thought would fit ...it doesn't ,it's to narrow so now they need a new mattress !! i don't know why they didn't measure it before they bought the bed !! Lacey has now been out of nappies in the day for a couple of weeks ,she has been really good and not had to many slip ups ,she takes herself off and sits on the loo and she has to show you what colour knickers she has on :-D
I bet Sandra is tucking into her pizza and dancing away to the music , i wonder what she has bought today in the clothes shop :-D

Forced rhubarb is when you cultivate it in the dark forcing early growth which you can pick - early!!!! Rhubarb grown naturally is ready later, but both are quite delicious!! We've planted some here, but it won't do much this year, .maybe next we'll get a picking! Jane I'm useless at finding my way too!! I used to dread someone asking me to meet them or pick them up from somewhere, as I knew I'd lose my way!! these days it isn't so bad with Tom Tom, but I don't think I could possibly go anywhere in a foreign city on my own!!! I used to go to London quite a lot years ago, and I got quite nifty on the underground, not sure I could do it now though. I had a friend once whose husband said she got lost going to the garden gate!! We've had a busy out day, Sainsbury's(surprise surprise!) then to B&Q for a stair gate to stop Cassie going down the passage way and into the bedrooms/bathroom, then to the machinery shop to pick up OH's new industrial strimmer, finally the pet shop for a Cassie harness, then home!! OH has just finished putting up the gate, you should see her face!!! Lovely sunny evening here, but a horrid cold wind. Hope you're feeling better today Mel, and that Sandra's birthday went well, Gill.

O Jane you must know what forced rhubarb is.......It is when it starts to grow and you cover it either with a forcer or a black dustbin and the rhubarb grows tall and thin and pink stemmed under the forcer and you don't need much sugar to cook it or you can eat it raw dipped in sugar!!

What's forced Rhubarb Mel? I don't know. I think it was my Dad who loved the stuff .I don't mind it as long as it isn't too tart.Chris loves it.
Well I don't think it has been very warm at all today with that brisk wind.I have bath mats on the line so am hoping they will be dry soon.I didn't hang them out until about 4.So they may need a blast in the drier .
It is the cinema again for us tomorrow and I am assuming lunch too :-D I hope so as I haven't planned anything to cook :-D.
I expect Sandra has been enjoying her day out today and looking forward to some nice food and music( I think that is what Gill said they were having this evening)
I have been looking again at places to see in Paris.I think there might be a couple of places that Chris wouldn't be that bothered about. So maybe if I am confident enough and know where I am going I could maybe do them on my own while Chris goes to something he wants to see .The problem with me is I have absolutely no sense of direction.NONE :-S :-S.I can get lost in a department store and not remember which door I went in.Chris despairs sometimes lol.Often when we are away and come out of somewhere I start marching off totally the wrong way,but convinced it is the right way. He says I shouldn't be let loose LOL...Mind you he might be quite pleased to lose me for a while.
The sun is shining on Janice and Larry and so far we haven't spotted any bunnies today :-D..well not when we have been looking .

WELCOME COVLASS
I would have been FORCED to eat it like that :-D :-D :-D
Yes Jane Sunday morning sitting on the garden seat under the rose bushes, podding the peas, ready for Sunday lunch. I had the job of scraping the new potato's also. There were so many with SEVEN OF US and even worse if Clara and Tom cam to dinner. Dad would go to the allotments and get the greens, which went into a bowl of cold water for a wash.
I always remember my Mum sending me down the garden for the MINT and telling me to wash it. I asked her "WHAT WITH SOAP" A smack across the ear, soon made me realise it was under cold water.
While we are down memory lane. Yesterday I sat down the bottom of the garden under the apple tree. (it's just coming into blossom) and started to sing "I'LL BE WITH YOU IN APPLE BLOSSOM TIME" The new neighbour at the bottom of the garden called over. "THE OLD UNS ARE THE BEST" I( mentioned it down the pub last night and the lads said "NEVER HEARD OF IT" These youngsters !!!
Been a bright sort of day so far, but I have been cold. I have my Joggers on, T shirt and a light jumper. That wind has a real bite to it.
Tenderloin of pork tonight, It's marinating in Soy Sauce at the moment. I will do seasoned Potato wedges, Onion Rings, with Mushroom and Onion cream sauce.
I have had that horrible fainting feeling today, together with a cough. I think it might be HAY FEVER. I have been taking tablets that Ros got for me, so I think I will knock those off, and see how I feel then.
I had various silly dreams last night. One was I had this big square box, I had to blow into the corner and as the box got bitter it turned into a room of furniture. Now where did that come from.???
How's things in the Close Ann, all quiet on the "Western Front" or are the battle lines drawn ???
Wisteria is just coming into bloom on the garage roof, will get a photo when it's out a bit more.
Hop[e Sandra has had an enjoyable day, and lots of cards and presents. <3 <3 <3

Yes picking the veg with my Dad .I think the peas were my favourite for picking only because they were so nice to eat straight from the pod. Then sitting on the stone steps outside the kitchen door shelling them all....Happy days :-D

Picking fresh rhubarb in the garden and dipping it in sugar, my dad getting me to go in between the bamboo canes to pick the beans he couldn't reach. Front doors being left unlocked in the day time, knowing it was time to go home when the street lights came on.

"H A P P Y B I R T H D A Y S A N D R A " Hope you have a lovely day.
Morning all, Evening Kim,
Bright sunny morning here, but a very strong breeze, which I imagine is cold. Not poked my head out yet. Bit of cloud building in the west so we might get a drop of rain.
Carolyn has been on SKYPE this morning from Tenerife, The weather there is a bit iffy. Warm then comes over cloudy, and cools down.
It appears her "DUCK" is doing the rounds. Three people Ros has spoken too are feeding it !!! So he/she isn't going hungry. :-D :-D :-D :-D
The Dyso# battery vacuum is playing up, so I had better have a look at it.
Glad you are feeling a little better this morning Mel.
