Morning all
Nice and sunny here.
My throat's not so sore today so that's good, hopefully I won't get the dreaded bug again and be ok for Sandra's birthday. Poor OH is still asleep. I was the same I just slept all the time. Hopefully it'll do him some good.
Yes Jane Casualty was a good one. Sad though. Poor Conny (sp) she must be going out of it.
Nothing planned for today, so a quiet one helping my cousin with her family tree. Might take another look at mine too.

OH's not at all well and has slept most of the afternoon, but that will do him good.
A gun policy Jane, mind you that's the USA for you. At least you know Hannah will be safe at the Hotel. No I don't think there's a gun policy in Amsterdam lol.
Not much happening on here today, it's very quiet. Just the 3 of us Mel and Jane by the looks of it.
Off to watch Casualty now with OH then an early night. My throat is starting to hurt, hope I'm not getting ill again. Sandra has a very good immune system and doesn't get ill very often so hopefully she'll be ok for her birthday. Her sister is arriving here in a week and Sandra is really looking forward to it.
Well, I'll say night night back again tomorrow <3

Just got our cheese and biccies ready and I think I shall go in the shower before eating.
Have done a bit of weeding this afternoon but only on the bit outside the kitchen window at the end of the box hedge. I have a load of dock seedlings there but I had to water the ground before I could get the hand fork in the earth. Planted a little phlox by the old lavender.

Like you say Mel it's worth trying.I wonder what it is about Human hair that they don't like . It seems quite dark here now.I think the lights might have to go on soon :-S
Hannah has just sent an email saying she has booked her flights and accommodation now for the USA.The 7th of June until the 19th in San Diego California and then until the 26th June San Antonio Texas. She has booked a one bed apartment for the first part and then the Grand Hyatt Hotel which I am assuming is where the conference is going to be held.I think she is so brave as she will be on her todd for the whole trip. The Hotel is HUGE and has a Firearms Policy so it tell you what you have to do with you guns !!!!!! EEEKK James and Jess have just booked their few days away in Amsterdam for June..Don't think there will be any Gun Policy there lol
Roast dinner is smelling so good now :-D..I'm drooling :-D

Oh Gill poor hubby.I do hope that he isn't going to be as bad as you were, and also it doesn't get passed back to you or Sandra again. She certainly won't want to be ill for her big birthday. Well you are the lucky one today then Mel.We have just had a few glimpses of sun but it doesn't last long before it clouds over again :-S There are a few clouds that look like they might have a bit of rain in them but we aren't forecast rain .There might just be a few spots. I went out earlier to buy a new frying pan at Dunel* .Then I thought I would just nip along the road to Asd*..Wish I hadn't as it was bedlam there.I don't think I have seen such long queues at tills since Xmas :-S :-S..The girl on the till I was at had verbal diarrhoea and was holding the queue up even longer :-S.When it was my turn she said "Hi Honey ,sorry to keep you waiting, you can see I am in a chatty mood" !!!!!!!! I felt like saying well dear I am not your honey and if you kept quiet we would all be served a bit quicker. But being the nice polite person I am I said nothing :-S.Wish I had had the nerve though to have actually said something.....I know FRANK would have ;-) :-D
I think it is supposed to warm up a bit more next week.We are thinking of going to the Botanical Garden in Cambridge on tuesday if it is nice enough. We have been saying for ages we should go.Wednesday Chris is going to see a film in Northampton ( not for me) so I am going to Fitz for lunch(and it won't be like our lunchtime on Thursday !!!!) Thursday is haircut day for me.I can't wait as it seems to have grown so much in 5 weeks.Chris wants me to ring the day before to get them to collect all the cut hair so he can put it around the edges in the garden where he thinks the rabbits are getting through again .The last time we did that it did seem to have an effect. It's something to do with human hair that Bunnies apparently don't like.So we will give it another try :-D

Morning all
Cloudy here today and a bit chilly I saw on the internet yesterday that we might be getting snow next week. Hope not.
Your poor fingers Ann maybe you should wear plasters before you start the work it would protect them lol Hope they're not to sore today. Yes pictures would be nice of the things you've made. Hope you enjoy the painting exhibition today.
Yes Jane I panicked shouting fire or words like that but I suppose it's just the way we react, better than doing nothing. Poor Chester he must of wondered what was going on being chucked outside. Did he forgive you.
Don't over do it in the garden today Mel. How did the photo's turn out you took of the Robin's nest. Glad to hear the eggs are still there. I bet you can't wait for them to hatch.
Sandra said to say thank you Frank for the channels you told me about the other day. Unfortunately my subscription doesn't cover them so we're going to see if there are any similar channels on her set top box.
OH has caught the bug I had and feels terrible so much so he's even said that he doesn't think he'll be able to go to work on Tuesday which isn't like him at all, so he must be feeling really ill. It knocked me for six so I hope it clears up quickly for him.
Yes the F1's on today Mel, OH and I are going to watch it later. Just off to get a bath now and sort out dinner before it starts.

Morning/Evening All Have you got sun then Mel? It's all cloud up here :-S.Not sure if we are due any sun today. I am going to spend the rest of the morning sorting and ironing all the washing from yesterday.
It is Roast Beef tonight with all the usual NOT CAULI CHEESE (Frank)..If i dished that up with a roast I would get some strange looks from the rest of the family lol.The same if I was to do Mash or New as well as roast potatoes.
Ann that sounds quite a dangerous hobby LOL all those cut fingers.I suppose it is almost impossible though not to get any cuts at all .Bet you can't wait to see the results.Did your teacher have a supply of plasters? or were you warned to take some along with you?
Ooh it does seem dark and dreary ..Come on sun show yourself.

It's another nice one today and the winds dropped so perhaps I shall be able to get on that border today I may try Liz's method of a bucket full of weeds a day but I think it will take me all year to weed it.

I always make my own pastry by hand as oh knows if I buy a pack he says it's not as good as your homemade pastry and swears it gives him indigestion when mine dos'nt.
I don't do puff pastry as I don't like it much. I do buy the sheets of puff if I make a chicken and brocc plait in a cheese sauce though but not so often since mum died.
I have mums Kenw**d mixer but I don't use it as you have to get it out of the uti room cupboard and then wash it all up after you've used it and by the time I have got it out I could have made the pastry anyway.
Ann sounds like that course show have a health warning. I wonder what the things are going to look like when you get them back. Can't wait for a picture.
The Robin is still sitting tight on her eggs and when I saw her out eating meal worms on the patio today I popped down behind the shed and there are still the 5 eggs in there.
Signing out now as I am going in the shower and then watching Country File from last Sunday on catch up.
Night night.

I feel guilty now with you all making your own pastry !!!!,not that it will make me make my own .I will stick to good old Jus Rol*..Even then I can stick muck things up :-S :-S Gill any kind of fire or smoke s so scary.I must try and see if I can find my pic of my jute shopping bag that caught fire when I left in on the hob .Gill I can't tell how scared I was .My kitchen was so full of smoke, and flames .I don't know how I did it but I picked the bag up and chucked it in the sink and turned the tap on it ,then I chucked the dog out in the garden.Poor old Chester must have thought he was in the dog house for something :-S :-S...I have also managed to catch a Tea Towel on fire too. Hannah thought I totally over reacted then .I was just shouting FIRE !!!!!.She calmly came out to the kitchen ,shoved me out the way and dealt with it.
Chris and I have eaten and it was very nice...James is now chopping and blending something in the kitchen .I have no idea what he is cooking other than there will be Chicken and Puy Lentils...I really fancy something sweet like CHOCOLATE but there is nothing :-S

Evening All,
Well I have plasters on 2 fingers Mandy!! lol. Then over a period of time the other 3 on the same table as me all aquired a plastered finger too :-S Those fresh cut edges and tiny shards of glass are so sharp. Luckily I wasn't allergic to the the plasters though. It was really good and we made a couple of coasters, a curved square dish and about 4 pendants and a christmas tree decoration. The tutor has taken everything we made with her to fire in her kiln so we won't really know what they are like till we get them back. Some of the glass changes colour on firing and the dishes we made are flat at the moment. The only downside was the rock hard, flat stools we had to sit on that haven't helped my back at all.
Jane Chris and James were very lucky the fall wasn't worse by the sound of it! I hate seeing hubby on ladders too and he's not keen himself!!
That was a nice get together Gill and so nice to be given a lift home like that.
I used to make my own puff pastry for sausage rolls years ago, but it always had too much puff so I started buying the readymade puff pastry then. I've always made my own shortcrust or flaky pastry though using the Kenwood like Liz. Not that I get the Kenwood out much these days though!!
The painting exhibition that I went to last year is on again this weekend so OH has decided to come with me to see it tomorrow morning. The paintings are all by a painting club in the area and are for sale. It's interesting to see the different styles.
Concentrating all day seems to have made me so tired, I'm not used to it anymore so I think I shall be off to bed soon. I can't stop yawning!

Looks like I've had the good weather today, not even a breeze and not to hot, just nice.
Good idea to teach Cassie before the season begins and at that age she'll think it's playing.
I make my own pastry but by hand now as my kenwood broke and I never bought a new one. It gave me such a shock when it broke as the motor had gone and it filled the kitchen with loads of white smoke. Poor Sandra was in the bath at the time so I'm running from the kitchen to the bathroom telling her to get out of the bath as I thought my kenwood was on fire and we'd have to get out of the bungalow.
I turned the electric off at the wall and was about to throw the kenwood out of the door but once I'd stopped the machine the smoke stopped too. I've never been so frightened. OH was out at the time and I'd rang him saying the kitchen was on fire so he was home in record time.
My mum's house caught fire in the middle of the night when I was about 11 years old and it brought it all back to me. I couldn't stop shaking for hours later, but then felt a bit silly for over reacting and panicking everyone. Good job OH understood, but it put me off electric mixers and now I do everything by hand.

I always make my own pastry Jane(!!!) but it's in my Kenwood not by hand, so it's pretty easy. I always do the same sort though, shortcrust! Think ANSAC day is the 25th Frank, but it is an event we should all remember. No, we won't be teaching Cassie any tricks as such Gill, just bog standard training. Eventually she will be going beating with OH, so she has to has some obedience training before the season begins, so he has started her with coming to a whistle, sitting to have her lead put on, sitting and waiting while we put her dinner down and just general behaviour things. Been very windy here all day, hopefully it'll be better tomorrow.

Evening all,
We've had another nice sunny day ,i see some of you have had a very blowy day but we have had a nice breeze which helped to get the washing dry .
No wonder your a bit nervous when the ladder comes out Jane , they were both very lucky after coming off that ladder :-0 I don't like seeing hubby on the ladder but he has done it all his working life ,it's when he gets to the top and doesn't even hold on he just stands on the rung and cleans the gutters out using both hands !! i have to come in i just carn't watch .
Glad you enjoyed your day out Gill, it's nice to have a good catch up ,very nice of the chap to give you a lift home .
Oh Sausage rolls ,i can just smell them :-D
I must have some thing (probably a crumb ) :-D under the s key i have to give it a bit of a wallop to go down :-D :-D
I wonder how Ann has got on at her fused glass course .

I haven't made sausage rolls for donkeys years.Probably not since my 2 were little.I know if I did make them and they turned out ok they would last just 2 minutes (if that) :-D Do you all make your own pastry or but ready made?..I always buy ready made these days should I have a crazy idea to make something.Even the top chefs on TV say to buy real made these days.My hands are always too warm for making pastry.(that is my excuse) but it's true :-D...it really is. This wind is ridiculous now.I just went to fill the window feeder which is on a side window at the side of the house. If I had had a hat on it would have blown away !!!

Hi all
I'm back again, well, Lewis Hamilton has got pole position for the F1 race tomorrow so I'm a happy bunny.
That must of been scary for you Jane coming home to find your OH and son had fallen off the ladder, I don't blame you for being nervous around ladders now.
Oh bless little Cassie, learning tricks already what sort of tricks is your OH teaching her.
I've been making sausage rolls too at my mum's Mel. Of course you have to test them :-D :-D :-D watch they've cooled down enough though.
Off to get something to eat now I'm really hungry.
