Morning all, Evening Kim,

Started off wet, but now have bright sunshine and blue sky's.
Oh what a night I had again. I was in bed by 11.00 and settled down before midnight. Madam came in at 1.15 am and I was still awake. I finally got up at 2.20 and went into the lounge and read until 4.30. I crept back to bed and dropped of straight away, awaking at 7.30. Still in Dressing gown.

All change for tomorrows meal. NO PRAWNS for starters. Ros doesn't think Carolyn will like to see them on the table. So it will be Roast Lamb and all the trimmings, and a couple of light sweets, with Cheese if anyone wants it.

I'm glad that Cassie has started to get t5o know the house rules Liz, you have to start the way you mean to go on. !!! Conrad's Cavlalier is coming on fine, He has managed to bring in a baby bird already, and loves his walks down the beach. He sleeps in his basket, and goes through the night.

Did you get the Carpet alright Jane from Olney. I love it over there, we normally have a bite to eat at the "BULL" while we are there I always have a look round the Charity shops there are some nice bits in a lot of them. One year I bought a brand new suit that had the trousers that hadn't been turned up. It was A JAEGER" and would have cost over £200.00 I got it for £20.00 and it fitted like a glove. I still have it and wear it quite often. It must be over 10 years old now.

I see there3's no change with the in-laws Ann. It must be very difficult trying to keep an eye on them ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

Shower time, I'm not sure if I will bother with the match down the pub as it's on T.V at home.

Well we started the night with Cassie trying to get on the bed, but OH very firmly told her to get into her own bed and stay there, and low and behold she did just that!!!! She slept round till 630, when OH took her out for a wee. I did her breakfast then took her for a walk, put her in her cage, where she stayed, without a fuss (!!) till after we'd had our breakfast, cleared away, done a few jobs and were ready to play with her. She's now lying at my feet, asleep, as I'm typing this, so we feel well pleased. I think her night time 'bad' habit is now broken.
You're right Jane, they are a tie, but we always have to cater for Merlin, and if family/ friends failed we always sent Millie to kennels, which worked just fine. We have already sussed out some recommended ones near by which we would have sent Millie to if we'd had to, and we would certainly send Cassie if we need to.
Frank, how is your sons Cavalier? They are such lovely little dogs, and we seriously considered having one, and but for going shooting might well have done so.
It's much cooler here today and has rained earlier on. Must go and do some shopping!!

Oh Mel and Jane I'm much the same with a lot of fishy things! I do that with Pilchards too Mel......clean them out and cut off the fins.....I don't eat the bones either and have to take the bones out of tinned salmon!! They are so good for you as well but I can't stand crunching them! I like fresh wild Salmon, not farmed and I like Halibut and Sea Bass as well as Haddock and Cod. I have cooked whole Mackerel, but it is very oily and repeats on me so I stick to the tinned fillets now. I agree Jane those grey looking Prawns do look like something that is 'off'. I must try some of that Skate Wing when we are in Cornwall this year.

We had some lamb today.........tender and tasty with mint sauce!

My new 'cut and grip' secateurs arrived tonight so I must see if I can try them out tomorrow if it isn't raining. :-D

Evening All.

Phew, it was showing 23 degrees in the car today yet poor Shirl has more snow!! :-S My car has a fine covering of sandy coloured dust, so I expect it is a bit of the Sahara that has arrived!

Yesterday we went to Shugborough Hall in Staffordshire, only a few miles from where I lived as a young girl. On the way we called in Litchfield so I could visit the bead shop there. OH had a mooch around the shops and he found me a book of old photos of where my parents and gt grandparents lived in Staffordshire and which is all redeveloped now and the old streets all demolished. Best of all the book was reduced from £12.99 to £2.99! Shugborough was Lord Litchfield's home (the photographer) so there were some interesting photos of famous people taken in the 60s. Thank goodness they had a little train and a minibus to get people to the house from the car park as it was quite a treck!

Today we took it easy as there were a lot of steps to climb yesterday! We called at MIL's to see how FIL got on at the docs after lunch and his BP is ok now but he is to take iron tablets as he is a bit anaemic. The doc was pleased he has been referred for a brain scan from the alzheimer's clinic and said it might throw something useful up. MIL was upstairs and the stairlift was downstairs again when we got there. She's got a bee in her bonnet again about not being able to eat anything with any iron in it!! It's since she found out she had thalassaemia trait like OH. We've told her till we are blue in the face that it is just the doc that has to be careful and aware when prescribing iron medication, but does she listen to us?? :-S She seemed surprised when OH told her that he didn't change his diet, more surprised when he said he would most likely become ill with no iron!! lol.

Liz, it sounds like Cassie has chosen her preferred sleeping arrangements!! I think that is where she will be sleeping now.

That's good you are feeling a bit better Gill. I expect you have been a bit run down with the house problems and the worry about your mum.

Mandy that must seem strange your son having a bit of spine missing. What with that and the bulge from a disc he must have had quite a bit of pain.

I hope your OH's back is quick to recover Mel. This is the time of year when we all want to get on outside. I bet you will be glad to get rid of the wooden prop in your car boot. I'm fed up of holding OH's boot lid when he gets things out. They are so heavy these days and could give you a nasty bang on the head! Are you and me the only ones watching Banished? I'm really enjoying it. It made me shudder when they were talking of eating the dead though! Did you see they are to do another series of Poldark? Great!! :-)

Me too Frank give me the lamb anyday but no prawns for me either. Hate them and any kind of shellfish and most fish except fried cod or smoked haddock, tinned pilchards and salmon but not fresh salmon, sardines even had a try of oh's white bait whe he has had it and thats the first time I have eaten a whole fish inards, head and all. If I do pilchards on toast I have to take all the inards out and the fins off.

Oh often hurts his poor old back so has to give it a rest for a while.

Jane Report 10 Apr 2015 20:59

I'd eat your lovely Roast Lamb Frank ..but like Carolyn woudln't touch those Prawns.I have never had one of those Jumbo Prawns. Will they have the shells on?I hate it when they look GREY.It seems like they have gone off LOL
My dinner was a big success :-D :-D.I added Black Olives to the dish too.I might suffer tomorrow though as there were lots of Onion and Garlic. It might be a white friend day :-S :-S

Ooh Mandy .I do hope something can be done to alleviate your sons achy /painy back .I don't understand how a bit of his spine is missing !!!.Maybe there is pressure somewhere making that disc bulge.

It's my fav programme now .Gogglebox :-D
See you all tomorrow

Evening All,

What a funny old day we had weather wise. Started off nice, then down came the clouds. I had to take my light jacket off coming back from the Doctors this morning as I was sweating like a pig. When I got home I changed into shorts and T shirt, after having a wash down :-D :-D :-D

I bet you have "made a rod for your own back "LIZ. Cassie we want to be on the bed again tonight and a few more nights too ;-) ;-) ;-)

Glad you are feeling a bit better Gill. Take care not to do to much to soon.

Jane I can just see you with a short top and your tummy sticking out between your trousers and top. WHAT do you think you are, A 21 year old !!!

I did a nice chicken casserole for tonight, with onions, tin tomato's mushrooms and a Casserole chicken mix plus a bit of Bist# Mashed potato, cabbage and sprouter's.. Two cleared plates so I think it went down well.

We have invited John and Carolyn to lunch 3.00 pm Sunday. I will do a roast leg of lamb (John's Favourite) with a big selection of Vegetables (for Carolyn) she's not a meat eater.. :-( :-( :-( More for us three. lol I might do a started for us three. a Jumbo king prawn salad, I will get Ros to get some Melon for Carolyn. These fussy eaters. !!! As john said if it looks, smells, or taste of fish Carolyn won't eat it.

Hope OH Back is O.K. Mel, It's so easy to overdo things, and put a strain on it.

Mandy, that doesn't sound good for your son, no wonder he complains about his back aching :-0 :-0 :-0

Soaps are still going on !!! So will hope Grif Jones Train Journey through Africa is worth watching, or I will be in the conservatory with a couple of beers.

See you all tomorrow.

Jane

Jane Report 10 Apr 2015 18:59

Mel it sounds like you both need to take it easy tomorrow. No heavy stuff.

Gill ,good to see you back and good that you are feeling a bit better now.
My toe !!.I got up in the night to go to the loo and didn't put the light on.I just opened the bedroom door straight onto my foot and the second toe got stuck under the bottom of the door :-S :-S.It ripped the skin off from around the nail and gave me a big bruise too. Can't tell you how painful it was!...My language wasn't something anyone should hear :-| :-|

James has had his dinner and is now getting sorted for going .I will have to get on with our dinner now.I've done a weird kind of Italian styled Beef dish.Rump steaks cut into little strips, onions, garlic, yellow peppers .mushrooms and rosemary plus tinned chopped tomatoes all cooked up together and Brown Rice. Not done it before.

Evening all,

We have had a nice sunny day ,i sat out this afternoon it was lovely and warm ,it is a bit hazy though and now i read that we should have this blood rain !! or Saharan Dust which is about right as we had the car cleaned this morning .
Hubby had a day off so we went and ordered the new dining table and chairs ,they should ring next week to sort out a delivery time .

Son had a doctors appointment for his results of his scan , seems as if he has a bulging disc and also a piece of his spine is missing !! never heard any thing like that before , he has now been referred to a specialist at the hospital to see what can be done , no wonder he kept saying my back really aches at times :-(

Oh Liz poor little Cassie is missing the warmth of her siblings , she needs a nice fluffy toy to cuddle up to :-D
I had to laugh at you getting the jobs done while she was asleep :-D i had forgotten doing that too, i do remember leaving the radio on for her when we went out , oh the things we do for our pets :-D
Ours started off in the basket and ended up on the bed too !!

Oh Mel i hope OH's hasn't done to much to his back ,what was he doing to hurt it ?

Nice to see you back Gill, glad your feeling a little better ,take it easy ,don't try to do too much too soon <3

Suns stills shining but the haze seems to have got thicker .

Jane Report 10 Apr 2015 18:35

Oh Bless .The nights are still a bit cold and little Cassie won't have much meat on her bones yet..Bet she loved the bed with you.She will want be there every night lol Do they do little doggie sleeping bags? :-D :-D
In our paper tonight there is a lovely Staffie needing a home.He was found on the streets but is chipped and well trained....I think if we had family near us who would look after a dog for us when we were away Chris might change his mind. But he is adamant there will be no more dogs :-( :-( :-P.....He couldn't stand it when n`i got myself in a tiz sending Chester somewhere when we went away.
The positive side of NOT having a dog is that we can just go off whenever we want .at the drop of a hat .But I do miss having a pet :-(

He had a lay down Jane and then while he was resting I cleared more of the decking but now my tummy feels like it is full of water. May have strained it a bit lifting my big fairy and some very wet large pots.

Pasta tonight so quite easy for me to do and we will have some garlic bread with it.

Hi all

Thanks for the get well wishes. I finally got a decent nights sleep last night and I'm feeling a bit better today.

I haven't had a chance to read all the posts as I've missed so many. I got the pic you sent Liz of Cassie. Such a cute puppy. I'm sure she'll settle soon once she gets used to you.

Sorry to hear you have a sore toe Jane, how did you do it. I seem to have missed so much but will get back into the swing of things now I'm starting to feel a little better.

Thank you Mel for phoning me, it was such a nice thing to do and thanks for letting everyone know I wasn't well.

Going to read a few more of the posts now <3

Yes, we had a much better night Jane, although Cassie ended up snuggled up on our bed!! The general feeling is that she was cold, so tonight we shall put a bigger blanket in her bed, and hope that works!!!
Oh dear Mel, there's nothing like a bad back to disrupt the schedule particularly in the garden! Hopefully your OH will feel better soon.
It's been a lovely day here, and this afternoon I've managed to mow, dead head the miniature daffs, do some weeding and clean the bathroom, all while the baby was asleep! So am feeling quite virtuous! It's lucky we got on so well in the garden earlier on, as now we are a bit restricted!!

Jane Report 10 Apr 2015 16:59

Pooh dead mice :-S :-S.I bet they were well rotted Mel.I wonder how long they had been in there !!
What has OH done to his back? Did it 'go'? I hope it isn't too bad.

I have started sneezing like mad this afternoon, just since the wind has picked up.There is quite a breeze now. So tomorrow it will be 10 degrees lower than today.Jumpers out again :-S
I bought 4 things in Nex* ....3 are going back tomorrow.2 are types of dress and I looked ridiculous in them, the other is a top which is a bit too short and doesn't cover all my tum :-S..The one top I am hanging on to is really nice :-D..There is actually a long maxi skirt that matches so i am thinking about maybe trying that.It would be nice for Italy.I'm still looking for some plain coloured loose long tops but it is so difficult as everything seems to be in bright multi colours.

James is going to Jess for the weekend tonight :-D.it is nice to have the place to ourselves sometimes.

I am sat here just looking around this room and it looks a right tip :-S..Boxes full of photos, recipe books old magazines and radio times. There is even a sock on the table !!!..Where did that come from ,and where is the other??? I haven't done bad recently for odd socks. At one time I had over 20 !!!!!

How is little Cassie today Liz.Did she sleep any better last night? She is such a little dear <3 When i went to see my friends working cocker pup a couple of years ago she was only a little older than Cassie and she was running around with one of those soft toy pheasants in her mouth. It was almost as though she knew that this would be what she would be doing when she was a bit older :-D :-D

I hope Gill is on the mend and feeling a bit better today.
What about our Shirl and having even more snow !!!!!!!.It seems to have gone on for so long.Bet she is really cheesed off.

That breeze I said we had seems to have dropped again now.
I think it is time to sort out whats for dinner.

Oh scotched ll my plans for getting my compost. He has me clearing all my plants off the decking so he can clean it all. This means I shall have to clean the old compost off the tops of the pots and replenish them with fresh.

I emptied out one of my BIG stone flagons and the water stank, on the last tip two dead mice came out!!! no wonder it stank..........phew :-S

Then he wanted lunch so that stopped play and now we have eaten it I am just having a cuppa.

Stuart rang to say my struts are in for my boot lid and to ring him Monday morning to see how he is getting on with the MOT he is doing and he will fit them after that.

Hazy sun here..Maybe some of the haze is this pollution.I think we are in the 'moderate risk' area.
We have just got back from Olney and I'm having a coffee before going to Tes**.I might have a look in Nex* to see if they have anymore nice loose light summer trousers.

Morning all, Evening Kim.

Sorry Mel, it's our turn up here to get the good weather, I am a bit scared to mention it really as I know it will change sometime, it was even warm enough yesterday to have a quicky BBQ with Katherine & Jake, OH was saying it was the first time he has ever had a BBQ on his birthday :-D :-D

Been to see the nurse at the doctors this morning , annual blood test for the kidneys , she took my blood pressure and it was on the border line, she was amazed, infact she took it 3 times, I have always been low. I have got to phone at the end of next week to get the results.

OH has started ordering his plug plants for the greenhouse, and the postman says if nobody's in , he will leave them in the greenhouse so I don't have to go into town to collect the boxes, there was 4 boxes this morning sitting on the bench, so glad the postman remembered to close the greenhouse door after he'd been in, it's like a sauna in there PHEW!!!! it's warm .

Morning All and evening Kim,

Not so sunny here today but it is quite brightish if you know what I mean. We seem to have sun out the back and grey sky out the front. We face north. Still the solar panels are getting the brighter side which is good.

Nothing planned for today. I may sow some bean seed or I may go towards Cornwall and get some bags of compost. At Br**ks Nursary they do their own compost and it's the only one I really like.
