OH went beating last winter, so this year he'll be able to go with ' his dog !!! I think she will settle in well and the family are delighted particularly the children!! She's called Cassie!

Evening all,
We haven't had much sun today ,been cloudy and a bit chilly too .
Sister came this morning ,first time i have seen her since she lost her dog ,she had a few tears when Toby walked up to her so i left her to have a little cry and a cuddle with Toby and went and made a coffee , i know just how she feels
Ann what a brilliant painting you can certainly see it's OH ,i can imagine he would be pleased with it , you really should paint and sell ,they would go like hot cakes you really are good , what size is this one ?
Oh Jane your poor toe ,made me cringe and feel all funny when i read what you had done at least with the slightly warmer weather you can wear sandals so nothing rubs it.
Did you ever tell us what the blown eggs were for Mel ?
Enjoy your pint or two Frank ,you'll be ready for them with all the gardening you've been doing ,thirsty work gardening

Late afternoon all,
Well we have done well today, three hanging baskets done, and lots of plants put in. I cleared the bed in the front and put in my Dahlias, and a few other bits.
My neighbour has a "RED ROBIN" right in front of her/our front window. The leaves are everywhere, she also has this massive "Elephant ear plant" in front of it. She has no idea how big this things grow. I managed to chop a big root off the E E plant, and that's in the bin.
I have cleared all my Broad bean and runners in the pots outside to harden off. I have covered them in Fleece to be on the safe side.
We had an old water feature, which I have dismantled and just left the bowl on the stand. I will drill a few drain holes in that tomorrow, then Ros can plant that up. It will sit on a slab, in the back lawn. Easy to move (I HOPE) when I mow the lawn.
That toe must be sore Jane, I can almost feel the skin being peeled back under that door. m Ann, Not having seen Gordon before, I can't comment on his likeness. But as a painting I think it's great. YOU CLEVER GIRL
Still no contact from Gill. Has anyone got a contact number, to see if everything is alright at home ???
Ros is cooking dinner for me, as I have been so busy today, and Football is on down the pub, so a good evening all round.

Ann I hope your OH got somewhere with sorting out some help for the In Laws.He is going to have to be very tough with him Mum methinks .My Sisters inlaws were very similar to yours
YUk wet shoes..They are so uncomfortable and can rub even through socks. It is a horrible feeling to feel the wet seeping through. Chris was VERY impressed with your painting Ann
I got new plasters .Some with Savlon incorporated so hopefully it will help heal my poor toe.I would like to leave it open to the fresh air really but am scared of bashing it at the moment. All bedding washed and back on the beds today. What a job that is.
Dinner tonight is at last my favourite deboned chicken .I think I said the other week that Chris forgot to get one.But he remembered on Monday Good man My fridge seems like it is at the right temp now after turning the thing down to 2.Fingers crossed it now stays right.
Got the shopping done Mel?Was it a Bideford day today or Holsworthy?
I am going to do Hassleback Potatoes to go with the Chicken so better go and cut some slits in them and give them a good brushing of oil and herbs.

Morning All,
Nice and sunny here. Knees and hips are a bit twingey from bending in the garden, but then they usually are when I start in the spring.
Glad you liked the painting. I can see where it is just slightly wrong as you always can with things you do yourself, as I'm sure Chris would agree. I was so pleased to even get a likeness though and OH is so chuffed you wouldn't believe it. I've always thought I couldn't draw or paint people Jane as I've always got the proportions all wrong. I had to keep redrawing bits to do this! The last portrait I did would have been at junior school when you had to paint your friend. lol. Be careful with your toe.
OH has been on the phone a lot this morning to sort out getting his dad assessed for some help dressing etc. He gave his mum a good talking to about not getting him back to the docs last week as she'd booked an appointment weeks ahead again to get their usual doctor. He's also told her again that it isn't reasonable at the age of 94 to expect him to be fetching the paper every day and going shopping all the time, but I don't know whether it will make any difference. He's getting more and more unsteady and it may be just his age, but the doc wanted to see him if he was no better so may still be eliminating possible causes.
Better get showered next and see whether we are going out anywhere......maybe some gardens for a nice stroll.
Don't overdo it in the garden Frank! BBL

Morning my lovelies and afternoon Kim.
I am getting fed up with 3.30 am. Awake again this morning, didn't need to get out for a P so just laid there, I must have dropped off again, when I next looked at the clock it was 6.50 am.
How's that toe this morning Jane ?? I bet it's throbbing a bit and swollen.
I am very achy this morning, but I must push on, there is lots to do. Ros is already out there, so I mustn't be too long. or I will get a ear full lol
Shopping on a lovely day like today, can't be very nice Mel, Get it done and get home and enjoy a few hours in the garden.
Ann, Yes everywhere was very wet yesterday after the dew. Good job you had other shoes or you would have squelched in the car !!!!
I have to clear a front garden bed this morning as it's over grown, and I have some Dahlias I want to put in there. If I get in first, she won't be able to collar the bed for something else

Another nice day even though a bit on the hazy side.Chris is outside sanding and smoothing the patio table and chairs as we don't need any splinters !! I am just off to buy some more plasters .I don't know if there might be any specifically for toes .I was up a 5 as the toe was throbbing like mad,so I took the plaster off and hung my leg out the side of the bed.it is a little weepy
Ann that was a brilliant painting of Gordon..Well done you have caught him just right ..Have you painted people before?
Right I shall be off now so see you in a while

Morning all and evening Kim,
Another lovely day hereand I have to go shopping........boo hoo.
Ann thanks for sending ...................it is really great. Shamae you could'nt sit at your fav tabel yesterday. It throws you a bit when that happens but I expect you enjoyed your meal just the same.
Hand still looks a bit angry today and where it peels catches on things.
Hope Frank is not too achey this morning after his gardening yesterday.
I cut down the hosta flowering stalk yesterday and my Hydrangas in pots. The ones that have the black stems but only if you cut them back. Should have done it in the winter really and they may not flower this year now!! They did'nt the first year I cut them back but we did have the black stems.

Goodnight All!
Nice to hear from you William, it seems you had a good easter and enjoyed playing with the little ones. I know what you mean about getting up and down to do the borders too, it doesn't get any easier! We told MIL to ring A*e Concern as they provide a gardening service and charge by the hour. I don't know how their charges compare. There's a gardening services company that comes down our close every month or so in the summer and does several of the gardens down here. There are 2 or 3 of them in the van and you see one doing hedges, another mowing grass and another weeding and hoeing. They get done in no time and are really good.
Don't mention ivy to me either!!! We have it coming through the fence both sides of us. It pushes between the wood panels and breaks them apart. When we moved here we cleared every bit from our garden but the neighbours don't bother. We had a right job sliding our fence panels out when we renewed them because of it. I must get some weedkiller to spray it with.
Where do you get your energy Frank?? All that gardening and you cook a smashing meal as well. All I did in the garden today was set out a few pots ready to put the plants in and prune a couple of shrubs and was ready to go back inside for a cuppa then. lol OH weeded some of the front garden and the rest of the back.
We went for the fav carvery today and went for a walk along a public footpath nearby before we went to eat. It took us around the back of the old hall there and they have a huge pond and garden at the back as well as a tennis court. Silly me put my trainers on for the walk as I thought it might be muddy, but it was longish grass instead that was covered in dew. My feet were soaked after about 3 minutes, OH's shoes were soaked and leaking after 5. At least we had other shoes to put on when we got back to the car. Then the carvery was late as the power was off earlier and the electrician was still there and working on the raised platform near where we usually sit so we had to sit elsewhere
I hope the itchy palms soon clear up. My first MIL always said that it meant you were going to come into money!
Ouch Jane.....that sounds a nasty thing to have done to your poor toe! I'm always walking into the supermarket trolley wheels as I push, usually when I have sandals on.

Well dinner was a complete success. The B & B pudding was the very best I have made. Her words not mine.
The soaps are almost over, so I hope to settle down to Barnaby for a couple of hours.
Looks like the Fridge could be on it's way out Jane, if it's freezing at 3 something is wrong.
Must dash or I will miss the beginning.

Frank don't mention IVY !!! Our fence in the front (well it is next doors fence) is covered in the stuff .But when we try and pull it off it makes the fence even more unstable so it has to be left .There are years of the stuff growing on it.The neighbours(the ones I always moan about have just left their garden to do it's own thing ...Shame on them. They must realise that things are growing through our side but turn a blind eye. When I ask them to do anything like cutting the hedge so it doesn't cover our guttering they look surprised and make me feel like I am making a fuss. I AM MAKING A FUSS ...because they need to be responsible and not have our garden looking a disgrace because of their lack of care.......Well that was a rant wasn't it LOL..Buy they do make me cross
Oh Mandy not you now with the trots. It's about time all these horrible bugs disappeared .
Right ,I have turned the fridge now to 2 so will see how that goes.I have noticed for a while that things seem too cold.Plus defrosting something in there takes a lifetime I don't know how old the fridge/freezer is as it was the one Hannah had in the house she had in Market Harborough and it belonged to the people before her too.Maybe it is on the way out The stuff in the Freezer is often iced up on the inside of the packs.
Still no Gill ..Getting worried now.Hopefully it might just be computer troubles and nothing else. Back in time for Dinner is just about to start..I better call Chris as he likes this programme.

Afterno9on all.
What a beautiful day, and very warm. I took a chance and put my shorts on.
I have trimmed the lawn edges, washed and filled Rs's Tomato pots, and four little planters on the shed, ready for planting out (she has enough plants I HOPE) !!! Moved all the Potato bags, cut up the old ARCH and that's in the black bin. Watered and fed the greenhouse, and fed my VEG patch.
The neighbour down the side of us has loads of IVY that is pushing through our fence, I have pulled out as much as I can, then treated it with ROUNDU# so hope that kills it off. I have ask him before to do something about it, but it's like talking to yourself !!! If that doesn't work I will have to find something stronger,.
I have cleaned and replaced to waterfall on the pond. Nearly had an "EARLY BATH" but managed to grab the roof of the shed
Madam is home now. Carolyn goes of to Tenerife next week for THREE WEEKS. Then Ros will meet them at Luton on their return as their usual chap is away. It will mean a late night as their plane doesn't land till after midnight.
Lamb is in the oven and smelling good. I have stuck garlic and rosemary in the flesh. B & B pudding made and ready to go in the oven when I dish up dinner about 6.30 pm,
See you all later tonight.

Afternoon All
Lovely to hear from you again William ..Sounds like you have had a great Easter with all the family.I hope you find someone to give you a hand with the garden.I should think it will be quite easy to get somebody close by.You love you garden so as you say it would be a shame to have to 'let some of it go'.
So was it Shorts or Joggers then Frank ?I have actually felt quite cold today, which seems daft as it has been so nice.I have spent the afternoon trying to sort more photos. What job it is .I have so many that really need to be binned but I do hate throwing photos out.I need to be tougher.I know they won't be missed.
Fiona I hope your new cream does the trick for your hand.I bet this will be the right stuff Mel your hand sounds so sore.Hopefully the honey will work .I wouldn't leave it too long though as you need it healed before you start all your work in the garden.
I have a poorly toe .I got up to go to the loo in the night and opened the door right onto it.My toe got jammed and when I pull it out it ripped the skin from around the nail :-..It is a lovely Blue now S. .I had to come down and get a plaster as it was bleeding. No shoes on for me today.Just my open sandals.Good job it has been a nice dry day otherwise I would have looked a bit daft when I went to the Post Office..I just remembered to post my Sisters Birthday Present for her birthday on Thursday.I think she will be 56.Just a young one
Which way do I turn the numbers in my fridge to make it less cold Higher or Lower. It is too cold and set on number 3.My tomatoes were almost frozen

Ready glad your hand's feeling better Mel. I used to use an ointment called Lion Ointment, which always seemed to be a miracle healer, (you can't get it now!) It transpired that this ointment contained beeswax, hence the healing!!! Only downside is the stickyness!! Beautiful day here and we're not doing too much!

Morning all and evening Kim,
Nice to hear from you William and know you had a nice Easter.
I had a little message from Elizabeth today hoping I had a nice Easter . Thank you Elizabeth and yes we had a quiet one but it was nice.
Frank I'm glad you moved your coconuts!!!!!!! The ones filled for the birds I mean
You asked where oh had been in his breeks, he had only been over the fields out the back of us for a walk. This was way before they planted the tree over there.
Fiona I am thinking of going to the docs with my hand too. It is not quite so bad but it keeps skinning and then it is sore. I did put a little Manuka honey on it a couple of days with a piece of kitchen paper taped round it when it was really sore and the skin was a bit broken and it has seemed better since then. Liz suggested that and I had forgotten about honey being a good healer.
I put my camera out last night down by the ark in what we call the back garden. I still hav'nt looked through all the pics and videos it took as it took 300 because the harvest mice seem to have moved in and they are on most of the pics and videos with their goggly eyes shining out. They move so fast you only get a bit here and there fo them.
Well I must get Henry out as I have spied some cobwebs on the Christmas lights on the ceiling which we never take down!!!!!!

IT'S TUESDAY TODAY !!!!
Hi Will, Nice to see you around, I take your point about the boarders. I can't get down to them either.
Mel. You are a little devil day dreaming about the men's costumes of days gone by. !! What was your OH doing, going shooting dressed like that ???
Another beautiful morning here, a chill in the air, but I am sure that will go as the morning progresses.
Not sure whether to put joggers on or try my SHORTS. I will be down the bottom of the garden so no one will see me.
Roast lamb, new potato's mint sauce, Brussels, Runners, Peas, Carrot, and Swede. for tonight. I didn't get round to making B & B pudding yesterday, so will do that today. (give her a treat)
Have moved the coconuts Mel. The starlings are now cueing in the Cherry tree to get a turn on it. It wasn't meant for them, but they are enjoying it !!!
Madam is just waiting for Carolyn to pick her up. So "HOME ALONE" today.

Hello to Will, sounds like you have had a nice Easter etc , you both deserve a rest.
MEL, How is your itchy hand, I went to see the doctor this morning about my hand still troubling me, he prescribed Hydrocortisone again but this time it has a fungal cream added to it, hope it works.
we had a lovely Easter. grandkids had a good time finding eggs on a Easter egg hunt in the back garden as the weather was lovely the past 2 days, but it is cloudy today, still I'm keeping fingers crossed it doesn't rain as I have washing on the line.
We have to make a trip into town to put in my prescription, and OH has to go to the bank.
just have time to have a coffee .
