The BT saga continues, an engineer called this morning, did the same as the last one, looked for a BT line couldn't find one and went away, I am now waiting for them to come back dig up my patio to lay a new line, I really wish I hadn't bothered now. They say things come in threes, looked out the back and two fence panels are laying in next doors garden, and to finish it all off my iron has blown, and I was only recently singing the praises of M**phy R**chards. Aaah well, worse things happen at sea as my dad used to say.
Haven't gone on to my e.mails yet so am looking forward to seeing Ann's painting.
Yes, we've usually heard from jane by now

Afternoon All,
Well the wind reached here too in the night and today has been a real mix of sun, wind, hail and rain. I got caught in a hail storm when I went to post something at the post box at the end of the close. :-S
Well that's the best kind of compliment Frank if you thought it was one of my photos and not a painting of one!! lol. I hope you realised the windmill I sent a while back was a painting too and not a photo!
It was only the size of a postcard Mandy so didn't need much paint. I did wonder if I needed a trip to specsavers when I did it though.......... quite small and fiddly to do.
Jane might be at Fitz's as he told me he might have to call on her 'expertise' to print off some things that I sent him.
OH is off to a match later, but I am in for the day now and finishing off a necklace we started at class last week.

Hello all,
I didn't realize that Anne had painted that either Frank. What a clever clogs she is.
I loved the pictures in the e-mail you sent Frank - beautiful.
My old Lucy has lots of bumps and knobs too Mandy. She is 15 now, but still runs like a mad thing occasionally. I'm a bit concerned about her throat though - she has a hard time chewing anything hard. It could be to do with her teeth. She's due for her rabies shot soon, so the vet will give her a check up then.
I have been very busy outside for weeks. I work for an hour and then come in to rest for several hours :-( I jumped the gun a bit and planted some herbs about a week ago. Of course we had a late frost two nights ago and it killed the 3 plants of basil, even though I had covered them all with pots. I also have oregano, parsley and cilantro, and they were okay. I have English peas growing and sewed seeds of mesclun (for salad).
Have also been VERY busy with family tree. I ordered pay to view from Wiltshire, some old Wills of ancestors and am having a great time trying to decipher them. The oldest is 1552. Henry's son Edward was on the throne. That really puts it into perspective. This ancestor had lived through King Henry V111's reign, also from Catholicism to Anglicanism. (Do I need the ism's)? I've learned that they used certain strokes for letters, such as th and sh. Reminds me a little of Pitman's shorthand :-D Anyway, I'm struggling through it. The most recent one was 1874 so it's easy to understand, and has given me many new leads.
I've been laying edging blocks all around the front pathway, and at the same time digging out clumps of ornamental edging plants and replanting. It takes me ages, but I'll get there.
I do read all the posts, but I'm afraid I can't retain things for long. I'm glad your mum is well again Gill.
I've been working on the garage too. I got rid of lots of stuff when hubby died, but had to get it organized again. My middle son is going to move in with me for a while and has a fancy car that has to be inside. I have a two-car garage so we should be fine.
Am going to sign off as message keeps sliding away!

Bright and sunny here now, but that wind is enough to blow you away. Being so small I have to be careful ;-) ;-) ;-) (well I think I am )
Sat reading and my eyes got all heavy and half hour later I came to again, I wonder what happened there. !!
Ann I didn't know that were paintings. I thought they were your wonderful photo's SORRY. I wish I had a talent of some sort. :-( :-( :-(
Judge Rinder's on in a Mo. I just love his expressions, he has me in fits of laughter.

Morning all, evening Kim.
"I've never known a night like it" from an old pub advert. !! My that wind and rain certainly came along with great force.
Was up at 5.50 am this morning, but was in bed by 10.30 pm last night. Bin day today. I looked out and saw at least three bins over and open to the Jackdaws and rooks, who were having a great time. !!! Even the food caddied were on their sides.
Still very windy outside, I have been out the back and stood up the flower pots that have blown over. I thought about my HOG also Mel. Do I need to clean out the box ?? and should I start feeding again ?? We have seen some "CALLING CARDS TOO" Ros thought it was a stone, and picked it up. It went soft to the touch !!! So she soon flew indoors for a scrub up !!!
Madam has gone off shopping with Carolyn, So I am HOME ALONE till about 5.00 pm.
Will get myself some lunch and a coffee now, and have a read of my book.

Morning all and evening Kim,
WE HAVE SOME SUNSHINE and I think that is something to shout about but it is still extremely windy with white clouds scudding across the blue sky.
It does make you feel so much better when we get a bit of sun dos'nt it?
Liz it was Mandy's dog but her inlaws dog. Mandy still has Toby.
Nothing planned for today but I may clean the ark out ready for the hogs return as I think I may have seen some little calling cards about.

Goodness that wind blew last night!!! but all is secure here this morning! So sorry to see about your little dog Mandy, it's so hard when you lose them. We still miss Millie very much, but we are toying with the idea of another 'darling'! We'll see, we need to have our Dutch visitors first and then give it some serious thought The family are trying to persuade us as they say the house feels empty! and it does!! One or other of our two would take on any dog we get if it outlived us (it well might!!) so who knows! Family on Thursday for lunch and on Friday we're supposed to be boat moving but I can't see it happening as the weather is so stormy, again we'll see! Probably end up with us all meeting for a pub lunch!!

What a shame about Abbey Mandy, but they did the right thing didn't they., although they must feel so sad to see her go.
Maureen, what a saga it is turning out to be! I don't understand how you can have no phone, but still have the internet either. :-S Let's hope they sort you out quickly now. That's lovely Finley didn't want you to go. :-)
It sounds like Chris is on a roll with his memoirs Jane! Are you tempted to write yours? :-)
I forgot to say before that FIL has to have a brain scan. Luckily they didn't let MIL go in with him or she would have answered all the questions for him! He didn't do 100% but didn't perform too badly. How do you tell the assessor that for his whole married life MIL has dealt with everything and answered questions for him when MIL is sitting THERE! He's never been used to having to know or remember things, so his brain hasn't had much practice with recall.

Afternoon all,
Oh Mandy how sad to have to had Abbey put to sleep. How old was she, and will you consider getting another ???
Ann, what are you like.?? IT'S CALLED GETTING OLD :-D :-D :-D If that wasn't your purse in Nottingham who's was it ?? You would have thought they would have checked your details in the purse, before saying it was yours. Ros did exactly the same thing two weeks ago in Morrison's. She put her card in the machine and put in her code, loaded her shopping, and walked away. It was only when she got outside she remembered it. The girl on the checkout said that it was in reception. The woman behind her found it when she tried to put her card in. !!!
Maureen, You hear so many stories about these phone companies.. It's also happening with the fuel suppliers. (GAS AND ELECTRIC) I have had fall outs with two different ones now. You stick out for compensation. (they can afford it) ;-) ;-)
Did Chris get home alright this morning Jane ?? Where had he been.??
Ros has felt a bit iffy this afternoon, so has gone into the garden for an hour, doing a bit more boarder clearing.
I have prepared a roast chicken, Daphanaure (sp) potatoes with onions, garlic mushrooms in a garlic and herb sauce. Carrots, and runner beans. Will make a change from Roasts.
Mel, How is the deer and pheasants ?? I assume they are still calling in to be fed.
HI TO SHIRLEY IS SHE'S LOOKING IN. HOPE THE SNOW HAS GONE NOW.
Where's our Liz. or have I missed her ??
Might see you later.

Afternoon All,
I see Frank is back and seems to have enjoyed his time in Hastings apart from the new white friend. Frank, DON'T EAT THE BATTER ON FISH.......it isn't worth it. I'm beginning to think you like feeling ill!!!! :-S It's good your back is feeling better today. I find sometimes if I sit at the computer for ages, my back aches when I walk about.
Gill, do any other neighbours have a problem with their drains? If not, do your and your neighbour's drains merge? If so, the blockage may be before the drains reach the road.
OH went with MIL and FIL for FIL's assessment at the Alzheimers clinic this morning and I am beginning to think it should have been me that went, not FIL!! I thought it was bad enough that I nearly left my credit card in a reader the other day, but this morning was worse than that. While OH was out I decided to nip to Sain*burys and do some shopping. Soon my trolley was piled high and I went through the checkout, carefully packing the bags, went to pay.........NO PURSE!! I searched all through my bag to no avail, so apologised and left my trolley with a member of staff, saying I'd nip back home for it and be back before anything defrosted. What a faff I thought as I drove the short distance home. Then MEGA PANIC as I couldn't find it at home or in the car either!! I knew I'd used it at a garden centre near Nottingham on Saturday, so I rang Sain*sburys and told them I couldn't find it and that they'd better empty my trolley. Then I rang the garden centre and asked if a purse had been handed in and described it in detail. Yes, someone had found in the car park and they had it in their safe. I told them I'd be over this afternoon to pick it up. PHEW, I thought, that was lucky and was relieved I hadn't got to get new cards etc. Then the phone rang and it was Sain*burys ringing me .........to say they had found my purse........it was in the trolley. :-S :-S So now I had TWO purses! I got them to check the name on the cards in it to be sure and yes, it was mine!! Then I had to ring the garden centre back to say the purse they had wasn't mine after all!! It was a good job I hadn't driven straight off to Nottingham to go and collect it. :-S
Glad you found a hat you like Fiona. All you need now is the sunshine. :-)

Well it just goes from bad to worse with Ta*k Ta*k, before I left last week I checked the phone and Vir**n have disconnected me so I have no landline and I only have a pay as you go mobile for use in emergencies really, had to use son's mobile to ring them and all they kept doing was apologising, I said sorry isn't helping me, another apology. I now have to wait for them to ring me on my mobile either today or tomorrow to let met know what's happening, won't hold my breath, I shall expect some compensation for all this inconvenience but will probably have to get hold of a manager for that. At least I've still got the internet, how does that work when I've got no phone?
On the bright side I have had a lovely long weekend in Bedford, ate far too much so It's back to healthy eating for a while now. Poor Finley didn't want me to go.
Yes I saw that photo of Sophie on FB Frank, she is a little sweetie isn't she.

Ahh Mandy such a shame to have lost little Abbey but you just can't let them suffer and now she will be in doggy heaven.
I could'nt get on the net first thing this morning then Di called in and it was quite a bright morning and looked promising till she arrived and it clouded over. then we had a little fine rain in the air but nothing to make everything wet and it's still like it now.
Di's eyes are much better now and the pressure is down to 20 in one eye and 21 in the other and she can drive again now. It must have been so frightening for her when she could'nt see. She still has to go to the hospital for tests and now only has to have drops in her eyes 10 times a day instead of the 20 odd times she had to do before.

Afternoon all,
What a day yesterday high winds, heavy rain and hail like i've never seen before ,boy did it come down.
Today is a brighter day with sunshine so i've got the bathmats on the line and they are having a good old blow.
Frank , do you think it might have been sleeping in a different bed that made your back painful ,was the mattress comfy ?
Sad news ,little Abbey was put to sleep on Saturday ,her breathing had got so bad with all the water round her heart ,there was nothing else the vet could do for her , they tried their best to keep her but they couldn't see her suffer so it had to be done bless her <3
Time for a cuppa , BBL

Morning my lovelies, evening Kim,
Lovely photo of Kim's granddaughter on FB this morning.
Much better day out there. I have been round the "ESTATE" to check all is in order. :-D :-D Greenhouse is looking good. Broad beans and Runners are coming up in their pots. and all seeds seem to be doing well. I grew two dozen Carnations from seed last autumn and they look ready to be planted out
I see I have onions on the top of the soil again. I must put them in a bit deeper later.
I am feeling much better this morning. The pain in my back (ROS ) has gone !!! and I feel fine, So no waste of time ringing the doctor. I think it might be down to all the sitting and walking I have done. We old people have to take it a little bit at a time ;-) ;-) ;-)
Hope Chris hasn't got abducted by aliens Jane. Can't you ring him to check he is O.K. ???
I see you have water problems them Gill. Do you or neighbour have and drain canes. ?? then you could rod the drain from the cover on your property. I had a lot of trouble when our young neighbours lived next door. She would continue to put BABY WIPES down the toilet, which seem to build up and cause a blockage. After a few words, and getter her OH to rod the drain, IT STOPPED. I wonder why ??? lol
Ros has washed and dried the sheets pillow cases and towels from our bed at Hastings. All ironed and aired ready to be delivered to Carolyn later this morning/afternoon.
Feet up now for a quiet day. If fine tomorrow I might do the lawns !!!

Morning Everyone, Evening Kim.
Been raining here all morning Gill, glad you have the sun, I'm hoping it stops for about 1/2 hour at 12.30 as thats when I am going into town to do some shopping and then heading for the Church Centre to do my fortnightly coffee duty at 2pm
Would you believe I am going into Ne*t to pick up the sun hat I ordered last week, I know we are no where near it being summer, but I have to get it early on or there won't be any off my size left. WAIT FOR IT. BOYS TRILBY > NAVY BLUE size 7 to 10 Years, ;-) ;-) hee hee I have such a small head circumference that ladies hats swamp me, only need to replace one hat this year as the last one came apart at the brim & the grandchildren play with it now.
Better go and get some lunch and get ready to go out.

Morning all
Bright sunshine but still very windy. At least the rain has finally stopped.
OH has had a poke at the drains this morning they seem to be blocked a bit. It hasn't made any difference to the loo, water still rising a bit to much when we flush it. Next door seems to have blocked drains to and we both think it might be in the road so the neighbour has rang the water board. So far no one's been out to fix it.
I had a good run on my family tree yesterday and finally finished the line I was on, so now it's onto the next sibling to see what I can find out there.
The tractor run sounds fun Mel How do you raise money for the village hall, do you collect money off people along the route. Let's hope the weather is nice. Do you take photo's I'd love to see them if you do.
