Evening all,
Much warmer here this afternoon. I am in T shirt and joggers.
As I didn't have a roast yesterday I did one today. Loin of pork, roasties, parsnips, Brussels, carrots peas, and runner beans. I got everything washed and dried up before Ros bought her plate out. She said "I'LL FINISH OFF" when she bought her plate out. Saucy little bugg##
Ros is saying she won't know where to put this water feature. My reply was WHY BUY IT THEN lol
I think this will be the forth time to Hastings, Yes Mandy the wind was bad last time what a good memory you have ;-) ;-)
Come on Liz, You girls always give into our charms !!! SOME HOPE.
Have you got the little black box working yet Jane.
Off to get ready to go to the pub. Tony will pick me up 7.30 pm.

We would like to have seen the service in the Cathedral as well, but I think it was tickets only. I expect the city will be packed on Friday and the cathedral isn't very big anyway from what I remember when we had our school Founder's day services there. The route will pass only 2 miles from here at the crossroads the other end of the village, but it is only a lane and there's nowhere to park, so we are going a bit further out to Desford and hope it will be less busy there. It's amazing how the smart new village signs have gone up all along the route and the faded white road markings have all been done. It is being televised so we are recording it as well as you get to see much more on the telly.
I can vouch for gout being painful Mandy. I hope any medication changes will help your son as it's miserable to be in pain. I expect it will help him when the weather gets a bit warmer.
Better get the washer on now ready for the nice weather to dry it tomorrow.
The lady never came for the scales......she told her mum who said she could have hers. :-S

That's not too bad then Liz, a bearing should be fairly straightforward to replace. Sounds like you've had a nice day out. That's what I do too to find things out. I go through so many different sites to find the answer sometimes that if someone asks me how I did it I don't know! I must admit as a young teenager I never expected to marry, so thought I'd better find out how to do most things myself. Then when I did have a hubby, I thought, and still do, what would I do if I can't do things and something happened to him.
It sounds as if the decorator got on well today Jane. Soon your lobby will be looking fresh and smart, not that it didn't when I last visited you, but that was a while ago.
My first OH was very practical . He made most things himself too, window frames, sheds, summerhouse, kitchen units, furniture etc. but I know he wouldn't have liked computers or been able to sort them. Current OH is more of the mind that prefers to pay someone else to fix things! lol. At work he had a personal assistant who ran his diary and sorted day to day stuff.......I think he would still like one now he's retired!! I know he would rather do a talk to 500 people than sort IT problems!! lol. I find it fascinating what a different mix each of us can be and here's me had two totally different husbands, yet I am still the one who sorts things and does the decorating!! lol. :-S
Mel, is it something you only use with that hand at certain times do you think? Maybe the handle of your garden trowel. OH had something like that for years and it went after he retired. We think it was like a contact dermatitis from his gearstick in his car because of all the driving he did.
Mandy, I saw the little crochet lamb and thought it was lovely.......perfect for Lewis, but I bet Lacey will like it too!!

Ann, I meant to say (and forgot!!) that like Jane I'm envious of you being able to see the reburial. Also an eclipse!! I wonder what Richard would have made of that?!! a good or bad omen?!! Do try and take some pics, I would be really interested to see them. Mel,I can't honestly say that I run round after Ian THAT much, he has to shift for himself quite a bit, (he's getting supper now!) so I'm usually happy to compromise over SOME things, not that many, but some!!! ;-)

Evening all,
Mostly cloudy here today ,when we set off early for sons appointment it was quite misty . We didn't have to long to wait , we sat in a very crowded waiting room and boy was it hot in there , we had only sat down for a few minutes when they asked us to move to another waiting area which was nearer the scanner and it was nice and cool there . He was in about twenty minutes and we were back home just after nine . Son has had Arthritis for a few years now and is on tablets for the pain ,he also suffers from Gout ,but in his fingers and wrists rather than his feet . The doctor thought he should have a scan just to see how his lower back is and then i suppose they will adjust his tablets .
That will be nice Frank to have a few days away , hope the weathers good for you ,wasn't it very windy when you were there last time ?
Gosh Maureen you have had a busy week !! and you haven't even had a catch to catch your breath before knuckling down to all the ironing !!
I think this week should be warming up a bit ,it wants to it's been chilly again here today, had my hair cut this afternoon so i'am feeling cold round the neck.
They were just saying that this year should be a good year for SLUGS ,not much frost this year to kill the eggs off :-0 :-(

Done all the running around here and there for certain things. Even managed to remember to go to the chemists for some cream for my hand which is now getting sore. It started with little bumps in the middle of my palm on my left hand. then they seem to break open into a burst blister. Mum used to get this at certain times of year. Anyway the pharmasist gave me some cortizone cream to use twice a day. So we will see if this works as it has passed across my palm onto the side.
Maureen you have been a very busy girl.....fancy getting all that done in a week. I suppose it is much easier when the place is'nt furnished so there is nothing in the way.
Liz I am not finding out how to do things he will do for me!!! I do enough for him.

Phew the decorator has finally gone for today.I have just made my bed as he was here before I had chance to do it this morning.I just managed to get my shower. He seems to be getting on well.Filled in all the cracks etc.Painted the ceilings and papered under the dado.
Frank that will be lovely to get a few days away to Hastings.Lets hope the weather is fine. You went there before didn't you?
Maureen you must be exhausted after your hard working week !!!!..You got an awful lot done :-D..Now the dreaded ironing :-S
Ann I am quite jealous of you .What a thing to be able to witness on Friday.I hope you manage to get a good spot. It's going to be quite a do :-D :-D
I saw a few ladies with tiny bunches of Daffs yesterday near Hannah's.I bet they had been to the Morrisons there. How thoughtless though just to leave the flowers behind. :-S
I think tomorrow is supposed to ok weatherise.Chris wants to go for one of his walks. He hasn't been for a while.
How did it go this morning with your sons MRI Mandy? Not too long there I hope.
Must just get a move on with dinner and get it in the oven.I didn't realise it was quite so late.

Home again after a lovely day out. Waggon needs a bearing replaced and will be done after Easter as it isn't urgent. Saw 'L' and had a good gossip with her over lunch!! Went to see 'M' where he works and broached the subject of Easter! I'm hoping we can all get together, but it takes a bit of doing, what with 'P's gymnastics, Newbury Show, ('A' will be competing) and Grandsons Beaver Troup who are having a day on the Downs at some stage, over or after Easter!! Family days can take a bit of organizing!! I suppose I am lucky that Ian can nearly always fix most things round the house including the computer, but there are times when it's nice to be able to do things by myself and not to have to ask!! You can find the answers to most things by asking on line and there are times when I prefer this option!! Tomorrow we shall have a quiet day at home. 'L' gave me half a dozen ducks eggs (I might make a cake!!) and some honey. Her chap keeps Bees and has chickens and ducks on a smallholding, so there is a regular supply of both!!

Crikey, you did get a lot done last week Maureen! You must have worn some painbrushes and rollers out! How nice though for them to be able to move to their new house with most of it re-decorated already and as they want it. Is it a bit bigger house with the 4 bedrooms? I can't wait for my bedroom carpets to wear a bit more so we can have hard floors in them. We'll have hard floors throughout then apart from the study. I bet the swarovski crystal bracelet was a nice surprise! I use some swarovski crystals in some of my better jewellery and they do have a lovely sparkle. No rest now you are home though with the ironing expected from your customers. Roughly how many items a week do you iron.....my arm is aching thinking about it! lol :-) Still it will help work off the takeaways and choc brownies won't it. ;-)
Well I've just proved my earlier point as OH couldn't get into his emails as they had been suspended. He rang the provider but had to pass the phone to me to do what they asked. :-S Now he has to wait an hour before trying again, but he's going out before then and needed to print something from one to take with him! :-S

I'm home after a very busy week at son's new house. We managed to get the downstairs living room, dining room, study and toilet decorated and son has laid wood flooring through. Upstairs we did three of the bedrooms so he will have to go it alone with the fourth bedroom, en suite, and bathroom, and still has to do the kitchen and utility room. If he had told me I would have taken 2 weeks off and stayed up there for Bella's lst birthday on Wednesday but they are all expecting me to get their ironing this week so I will probably go up at Easter.
Hope everyone is well, thank you all for the lovely photos, Liz, I did get your photos but thank you anyway Jane. I came home yesterday so daughter came over with Harry and Chloe, Harry shouting HAPPY MOTHERS DAY through the front door and gave me a little bunch of dafs they had given at church that morning. My son and d-i-l gave me a beautiful swarovski bracelet but I think it was a thank you for all the decorating as much as for mothers day.
I've managed to read a few of the posts, it sounds like everyone got spoiled yesterday, and quite right too. I'm glad I didn't get any chocolates, I've really got to get back into my healthy eating after 9 days of take aways and chocolate brownies :-(

That will be a nice break and change of scene in Hastings for a few days Frank. Ros found a good opportunity at the garden centre didn't she. I hope you have room for it all.
I have to stay in now. A lady is coming a bit later this afternoon to see the scales I placed in freeads ......really glad I hoovered around earlier so I don't have it to do now. :-) I think I shall do a 'Frank' and get advertising some more stuff next. It's all just cluttering the place up and better to have the space and the money to spend on other things! While we were out this morning we went to finally locate good parking spots for watching the burial procession on friday. We are going to Desford to watch and I think we might see an old work friend there as she doesn't work fridays.
Mel/Liz, be thankful your OH's can sort these things out......it's the other way round here! If I don't/can't do it, there's no-one for me to fall back on. Jane if OH ever gets round to sending for a little black box I shall know who to ask now if I get stuck!! :-D Which reminds me, he still hasn't used his satnav yet! :-S
You've been doing well with your tree lately Gill. I have had a furry of enquiries about rellies on mine lately but sadly most aren't matches. :-S

I'm pleased it has arrived Jane, and hope it works.
It has turned much milder here, I have put Lewis's Plant in a bigger pot, watered it and put next to the front door step. In PRIDE OF PLACE !!! she will love it. lol
I told you that our village Garden Centre is closing down, well. The girls decided to look in on the way to Town., two hours later I got a telephone call from MADAM to say they were still there. She has bought a water feature, stone pots and loads of bags of compost. There is too much for the car, so it will be delivered. MORE EXPENCE. Plus I don't know where we can put the water feature and anymore pots. I must say when those two find any bargains," woo betide anyone who gets in their way" Carolyn has also bought loads of stuff. It's just a coincidence that the Till isn't working and all payments have to be CASH. But with the prices as low as they are, who's bothered. !!!!

Morning all, evening Kim,#
We had a shower in the night, so everywhere damp. Sky looks drab with very little breeze.
Carolyn and Ros are shopping today instead of tomorrow as Carolyn has visitors coming, How inconvenient for THEM :-D :-D :-D
Enjoy your shopping day Liz.. What a clever girl you are, sorting things out on Google. I have never thought of that. I either contact Conrad or our old neighbour Jonathan.
St Patricks day tomorrow FIFTY SEVEN YEARS since I was called up for National Service. I was late being called up because of my dad being so ill. They didn't waste much time once dad had died. SIX WEEKS. !!! Oh what memories.
I'm all showered, just got get dressed. Might spend some time down the greenhouse this morning.
The sun is out !!!

Morning All,
Well, I've had to scuttle in here quickly! OH has gone to the tip and to do a few other errands and I was busy hoovering and cleaning the bathroom in my nightie when the window cleaners turned up!!! At least the blind is closed in here, not like everywhere else! We never know what day or time they will come any more. lol.
I hope your son gets some progress with his arthritis after the scan Mandy. It's not the sort of thing he wants with the work he does. When the builder came to quote for our chimney leak I asked him how Mark their plasterer was these days. He did an extension at my previous house when I was in my 20s and also here when we made the porch bigger. He did brilliant work, but apparently he has arthritis in his neck and shoulder now.
We went to Morr*sons for a lunchtime snack yesterday as everywhere else would be busy with Mother's Day meals. We were given free bunches of daffodils in bud at the till. Lots of people were just leaving them behind on the tables (shows how much they appreciate flowers they are given and on Mother's Day too!) I picked up a couple of bunches folk had left on their tables so now have 3 vases of bright daffodils to cheer the place up. :-)
We enjoyed the canal prog with Timothy West and his wife Prunella as well. His son is in Mr Selfridge isn't he? I watched the prog about murderers the other night . Dr Brian Moseley was the presenter and it was very interesting. Some have had horrific childhoods. It was quite chilling too to see experiments they did with young children that show how they copy the behaviour they see in the home. Also how what you are exposed to can change young brains.
OH back now and he's paid the window cleaners so I can finish doing the bathroom. They work 2-3 on a house at once so they do get done quickly which is good. Sun's out now which is nice. BBL

Morning all and evening Kim,
Horrid day here too so dull with grey skies. Not much in the way of wind though. Oh has just put the bins out and checked the level of the oil in the tank.
I used to supply a shop in Hungerford with dolls house minitures when I made them. We visited once with mum and it was in a tea shop.

Mel, you can always look up on line how to set up your On Demand box! I did this once when Ian was out and I wanted to watch a DVD and I couldn't get the sequence right. I just got onto Google and tapped in the relevant information and what I wanted to do and it worked a treat, after that I didn't have to rely on HIM anymore which as you say can be annoying!!!! ....Or you can always pick up missed progs on your computer on catch up. I do this with Indian Summers, and it works just fine. Off to Hungerford in a minute, nasty cold day so it be nice to go out for the day!
