Lovely bright sunny day here too but looks cold so I shall wrap up when I go out to the cinema this afternoon.
Yes you're right Ann, the hall next but son's move is looming so I shall be busy decorating his house next week.
I might have just scraped in to the police force Jane, I'm 5ft 2 and that all important half, I try to avoid having my photo taken with my kids now, I look like a midget standing next to them LOL
My brother, dad and uncle were all bad losers, so monopoly wasn't much fun to play with the three of them so competitive, me and my mum didn't really care if we won or not.
I fancy a bowl of porridge now, think I'll have some before I go out, that should keep me going until dinner.

Morning all Evening Kim,
Busy little bees chatting again I see.
Good old Ann, !! Always comes up with a link for our troubles. What would we do with out her ?? <3 <3
My weather isn't as good as everyone else. Big BLACK CLOUDS and a strong wind. I took a couple of photo's If they are alright I will send them on.
My "VEG PATCH" needs sorting also Liz, Then I can get my rotovator (sp) out and get it ready for later. Too cold and wet at the moment.
Glad you had a good couple of days in Stratford Jane. I knew you would have to go to the shops !!
Mel I get that noise also, It's the pulse pumping blood into the brain. So at least we know we have one :-D :-D :-D When I get it I lay on my back, so my ears aren't on the pillow. It soon goes away.
Glad everyone is feeling better from your aches and pains.
What a disaster the match was yesterday WE LOST 3- 1 :-( :-( :-(
Roast beef today with all the usual veg and pudding.
Time for me to do the veg. and sort out the Dys## it's making a funny noise. !!

Jane our son was the same as your James! he couldn't bear to lose at any game when he was little whether it was cards, cricket, tennis, swimming, he always had to WIN and would get really stroppy if he didn't - a bad loser!! (he can be a bit the same even now, particularly playing Scrabble!!) Ed is as bad, he threw the cards at Alice and wouldn't play anymore, and then announced that he was the champion because everyone else was doing it wrong!! Not sure of the logic here!!! No wonder we feel so exhausted when they go home!!!! Why doesn't your OH like you hoovering Mel? Surely it's just a chore that has to be done along with all the others! Off to the garden now, I've a feeling I shall only be offering moral support as the veg aren't really my department! I do the flower beds, OH the veg, but I like to appear keen!!!

Pinch and a punch Jane, not literally of course!! Very windy here! but lovely sunshine so we shall try and tackle the veg patch. It needs quite a bit of sorting before it can be rotavated, so that's our day planned out! Chicken for lunch, with the remainder of the Leeks (in white sauce!) and new potatoes so that'll be nice and easy. Ed won at Ludo!! (he cheated!) but Alice won Happy Famillies once, Polly won the next game, I came last in every game,??!! They're all smarter than me now, which actually isn't difficult these days!!!

No fancy tops Mel.Just nice longer length ones that will look fine with jeans or my 'jeggins'.Hannah loved one of them (didn't say much about the second lol) Thanks Maureen and Ann.I actually love looking after or helping people.(just have no ability when it comes to the art /creative, practical side of things :-D.(I'm rubbish) I really loved being a Nurse.Still miss it. :-( So glad I did it :-D :-D...and I wanted to be a Policewoman !! I was too short :-S :-S by 2 inches.
Ann the 'Bomb Man' Oppenheimer seemed like a broken man at the end.He invented it ,but in the end seemed like he couldn't live with the destruction(of humanity) it caused.Even though I suffered a few hours of an aching bum last night,I now understand about the history of the Atomic Bomb and about all the people involved in it. The play was like a Physics,Chemistry and History lesson LOL.But lots of laughter and singing and dancing too :-DI think the play is now going to London .It was totally sold out last night and people even queuing hoping for resale of any returned tickets
Glad you enjoyed the film Ann.You can tell me all about it on Wednesday :-D. Don't forget Ascough's is still in the 'new' place :-D

Maureen all that doing projects with your son shows in the very good decorating you have done. The wall and carpet colour is very nice and with the new curtains and chair covering it all looks lovely and fresh. Did you say it was the hall next?
Still not very comfy seats then Jane and that was a long sit you had so it was a good job there was an interval! It sounds as if it was good. As soon as I mentioned you were seeing Oppenheimer to OH he said, 'the bomb man'! One of these days I'll catch him out with something he doesn't know. ;-) That was good of Hannah to help out with her friend's sister moving out. It would be very difficult to do that on your own with a baby and toddler. Maureen is so right about you being a nurse and caring for sick people. I know I couldn't do it either.

Well done Ann, you always come up with the right advice for us all.
Glad you had a good couple of days away Jane, don't sell yourself short, no pun intended, having been a nurse you have qualities I could never have, caring for sick people.
Well the money I saved on revamping the chair I have just wasted on a blackout blind, it was so flimsy when I tried to get it back down the whole thing broke, I bought it ages ago so can't find the receipt, I tried gluing the plastic bit back but that didn't work either, it was cheap and as my old dad used to say .........you get what you pay for ............. I'll have a look in Dun*elm Mill for one, should be better quality. At least the mirror is up now, son came and did that this afternoon.
I don't think the intention was to be closer to his sister Gill, there's quite a big age gap between them, it was more that she knew the area and gave him some good advice, I can't see me moving anytime soon, plus I've just paid out a fortune for my new door so I want to get my money's worth LOL. Also I have another daughter in Chessington with two young children and one in Barnet so if I did move closer to son I would be further away from daughters.
Not sure I want to see The Voice tonight it's that sing off thing and it all sounds like a lot of shouting to me, not much else on though.

Afternoon all
Dull weather here today.
OH is off work today, he doesn't get weekends off normally and is back in work tomorrow so I decided to make a roast dinner today so all of us could eat together. Sandra said we could have fish and chips tomorrow instead of a roast. So that's me told lol.
That was a lot of food Frank, Sounds like you enjoyed it though and had a lovely evening out. I loved the pictures of the quilts Ros made she's very talented.
Thanks for your advice on contacting the manufacturer, I'm going to ring them on Monday. Would I find the number in the manual that came with the boiler it's an isar boiler, well that's what it says on the front of the boiler. That's if I can find the manual lol. I'm not sure what I'm doing online but if I need to find the number do I just put Isar Manufacturers into the search engine and take it from there.
It's been cold in the bungalow with having no heating and our bungalow doesn't have a cavity so there's no insulation. I've been sitting on the sofa with a hot water bottle and a blanket to keep warm. The place did warm up a bit when I had the oven on earlier but it's not so warm now. I only have an electric fire in the living room and a small electric heater to heat up the bedrooms before we go to bed, so its hot water bottles all round at the moment. ;-) ;-). At least we still have hot water so that's a positive.
I love the pictures of your chair Maureen, you've done a lovely job and matching it with the curtains is a great idea and a good way of using up the spare material from when the curtains were shortened. I must remember that trick and not throw away cut off material until I know I can't use it else where first.
I hope all goes well with your son's house move, is he moving to be closer to his sister. Do you think you'll ever move to be closer to them. It is hard when you've lived in a place for so long to think about moving, but it would be nice to be closer to your children too.
OH's ankle is healing well, he doesn't think it is his tendon, just a bad sprain as it's healing very quickly. He's had damaged tendons in the past and he says it's not as bad as that. I hope he's right and it is just a sprain then he'll be back to normal soon. My hand is much better now, no more swelling. It's still a little bruised but that's to be expected for a few days. It's great to be able to do things now without it being painful. It looks like my mum is ok to, she's not had any more funny turns so that's good.
I have had a ganglion before Ann on my other hand, OH gave it a smack and it went away but I wouldn't let him smack this one as it was to painful and swollen. Hopefully it won't come back .....don't fancy having it drained again if it does.
Nice to see you back safe and sound Jane. The length of the play was a bit long. I bet you needed that G&T with sitting down for all that time. Glad you enjoyed yourself.
Sorry to hear you had a bad night Mel, hope you are feeling better now and manage to get a good nights sleep tonight <3
Glad you have got your car fixed now Mandy, they made a right mess of the mirrors, I don't think they'll be back they must know you'll be looking out now, so hopefully they won't be so silly as to try it again.
Off to get a hot drink now to warm myself up. BBL <3

I'm home :-D.I never got chance to say good morning yesterday. What a beautiful day it was Sun all the way right through until the evening. Our room wasn't ready when we arrived so we went for a coffee and a mosey in the shops.(Well I had a mosey) Chris went back to the Hotel.I bought 4 tops.(2 went back this morning lol). Then we had an early dinner at a nice Italian place before the theatre....Oh my goodness..It was 3 hours.Well the play was 2hrs 50 minutes with a 20 minute interval. We needed that break to stretch our legs and backs and have a pre ordered G&T. Once again the seating where we were was not comfortable :-S. The play it self was actually brilliant even though the first half seemed a bit like a Science lesson lol all about Atoms ,Equations etc.(way beyond me ) .But as I got into it I was enthralled. How the main actor (Oppenheimer) remembered all his words I will never know.He deserves an award. He was just amazing. So now I know how to build my own atomic bomb!!!.. This morning we had a lovely breakfast .Chris went to get a paper and I went to take back my 2 tops.Bought a new nightie then saw a nice Butchers. So popped in there and got some bits. The journey home was a dream. Not one hold up at all :-D Our room in the Hotel was fine but I felt I was walking on a tilt all the time lol It was in an old part ,so had the uneven flooring. We had the most awkward stairs to get to the room.Narrow winding ones.I'm glad no-one could see us going up .It was quite a sight :-S :-S
Gill what a worry with your boiler !!!!.I certainly would get someone else in to have a look.If it is only 7 years old it really shouldn't need replacing.
Frank what a meal that was you had!!!! A real feast :-D
Maureen I would love to see your chair. :-D.All you talented people put me to shame.
The wind seems to be really picking up here and it is quite dark now.We had a bit of heavy drizzle earlier. Hannah has gone out now .We have seen her for about an hour lol. This morning she said she was helping her friends sister move out (just split from a real sh**) with a 9 week old baby and a 2 year old back to her Mums.....I feel so sorry for her Mum.She still has an 18year old son at home and she has terrible arthritis (debilitating ) and now has to cope with all this. :-0 :-0. It isn't the first time her daughter has moved back home. But now it is with another baby!!!! I have the biggest fattest Wood Pidgeon sitting in the Bird Bath .It looks ridiculous :-D
Must go and unpack my bag now .BBL

I get that heart beating sound in my ear too Mel, it's very off putting, luckily it's only in one ear so I can turn and sleep the other way.
That boiler is far too new to be replaced Gill, I would expect it to last at least 10 years my last one lasted 25 years but then like everything else nothing is made to last these days.
Will e.mail a pic, I would like to see your bedroom too Mandy, I'm not nosey but like to look in peoples houses when passing if they have the front door open, it just gives me ideas for when I decorate.
Aaah Frank, a man after my own heart, I could quite easily have eaten all that food too, my dad always said my eyes were bigger than my belly, I don't eat cos I'm hungry, I eat cos I like food.
Good to hear you enjoyed the film Ann, I'm going tomorrow. As you say with such great actors it should be good but it's whether it lives up to the first one. Which reminds me I didn't think Broadchurch was as good as the first series, or maybe because they hyped it up so much, the ending just seemed too conveniently finished off.

Yes Ann it is nice to play 'old fashioned ' games, and so much better than the computer or TV. TV is kept firmly OFF when they're here. Mind you we have the usual quarrelling over who's cheating, and things being unfair. It takes me back to when we played the same games (same cards!!) when my two were young, even to when I was their age (again same cards!!) playing board and card games with my parents. Poor Ed is only 7, so keeping up with the rest of us can be difficult for him, (Granny gives a helping hand now and again!!) so he does on occasion, stretch the rules!!!! Cake ready to come out of the oven, so better get on!!

Afternoon All,
That's just what I thought Liz!! Just the food Frank ate in that meal would normally be 3 day's worth of eating for me too. :-S. He's lucky he can get away with it and still do his trousers up this morning!! lol.
It must be nice playing those games with the children. I used to love playing ludo as a child and it is far better for them to be 'engaged' with people doing that sometimes than always be playing computer games. I do like your pic of Merlin in his field.....a picture of horsey contentment!
That can't be very nice Mel. I know it isn't pleasant sometimes when you lie differently and can a bit of whooshing in your ears. A few of us seem to have these sleepless nights. It's so annoying because you can't tell when you go to bed, otherwise I wouldn't bother going and do a few jobs instead. :-) I slept well last night, but never drop straight off like some folk do. I'm usually awake for an hour or two first. :-S
It's dull here, but OH is off to a match shortly and I think I shall pop to Lutterworth. There's a little shop there that sells lots of different buttons and there are a couple of charity shops that are worth a look. One has knitting needles, patterns and other craft things at times. I even saw a carding brush there once that you tease wool fleece with ready for spinning! You never know what will turn up!
We enjoyed another Lucy Worsely prog this morning.......she seems to be all over TV at the moment. This series is about the history of rooms in the house and she was doing the bathroom. Apparently it was french prostitutes that made the bidet fashionable.......they liked to be fresh for the next customer! :-0 I never realised that in 1951 only 37% of houses had a bathroom and a lot of the rich in big country houses were the last to have them. Apparently they worried about plumbing failures damaging their valuable things. I suppose it wasn't considered urgent when you had a maid to lug your buckets of water to fill your hip bath either. I know when I was aged 4 the bungalow my parents moved to in 1951 had a bathroom and remember dad modernising it with a new suite. Grandma's house didn't have one though. Something I never thought about before........I expect flush toilets meant the end of the newspaper squares on the nail too.
Jane's had nice weather for her break hasn't she. :-)
