Oh any chance of a pic when you've finished knitting them Mandy. :-) I used to enjoy doing little coats and tops for folk at work when they were having babies.

I expect that's an occuptional hazard in your hubby's line of work Gill. It must be upsetting for him at times though. It sounds like your elderly neighbour was very lucky that someone heard her shouting when they did.

MIL rang today and told me FIL had overbalanced and fallen again but luckily he hadn't hurt himself. At least this time she said she will get him a doctor's appointment. Even I was struggling around the furniture to get to the door yesterday so I'm not surprised he's fallen. The way they have their furniture arranged, you have to shuffle and weave your way around it avoiding little tables, footrests and the litter bins etc. they have lying about. Even the doorway is partly blocked by a tea trolley. We've tried telling them to think about making the house safer by moving things they could fall over etc but they say they have done! :-S `

Maureen I don't think I would have wanted to look at the screen if it was me!! lol. I find I have to be in the mood to do craft or art or things can soon go wrong. I love the different ideas you come up with for your cards. :-)

Well, we went to the retail park and ordered our leather settees tonight. It's about 12 weeks for delivery so now I need to get cracking and see if I can sell our existing M*S plum velour ones as they will be in the way if I don't!!

It's a pity there aren't any other local fishermen that would take you out with them Frank. If Ros thought it was cold earlier, it's blooming freezing here tonight with a very clear sky.

Evening all,

Well the sun has been nice and looking out the window you'd think it was a nice day to be out and about doing a few jobs but it's been really cold , hubby went out to chop a few sticks and came in frozen.
We went to sons for coffee and Jake came back with us for a few hours ,he stayed for his lunch and then son picked him up as they were going to see DIL's parents this afternoon.

Frank you had an early wake up this morning , perhaps you should have had a quick cat nap you might be over tired and not sleep very well again tonight .

Gosh Ann that's a lot of weight that lady has lost , she has done well ,it must be extra hard when your working with food all day .

Lewis is on the bottle Mel, we did wonder if it was the formuler giving him the trots but the doctor didn't think so, when Lacey was a baby she had to have her milk changed as the one she was on didn't suit her tummy .
He was fast asleep when we went to sons this morning so i missed out on a cuddle .
Gill , my sister use to work at a care home working nights and she use to find it very hard when she lost one of her residents ,she worked there for over thirty odd years and had seen so many go over the years ,she retired about eighteen months ago ,but she did love her job .

I'am knitting some tops for DIL's sisters little boy he's about five months old ,i've finished a little jumper and now i'am knitting a little tank top it's so sweet ,but you should see all the wool !! she bought six big balls !! and i've only used two !!

Not much on the tele so i'am off to have a look on G*m Tree .

Evening all,

No Mel, I have stayed awake all day today. I felt my eyes going a few times so got out of the chair and walked around. I am determined to sleep tonight.

I would love to know why I wake up at these ungodly hours. They do say your body knows when you have had enough rest. I wish it would tell someone else. :-D :-D :-D

Ros was home by 1.00 pm. Bought in some nice rolls from Morris##s with their mixed salad and prawn. Went down nicely with a cup of coffee.

Been watching NAT. GEO. about a family of a lioness and her three cubs. One got taken by a Croc. another trampled by Buffalo. The third was lost, but she heard it the other side of the buffalo heard. She charged through them to find it. Quite sad really but very entertaining.

Yes Gill, It is a long way to come for a day's fishing. I bet I could get down to Mel's OH quicker. ;-) ;-) ;-) I suppose working in a care home, he gets these deaths occurring more than he would like. I am sure if after nursing these old people for a long time, you must get attached to them. Hope he feels O.K.

We have had a reasonable day here with lots of sunshine. Ros said it was very cold out this morning. We have had some rain since it got dark.

Trust little Lewis is getting over his tummy upset.

I think it will be a Chinese tonight. I will ask Madam what she wants. Indian we can get delivered whereas we have to go out for Chinese. So it's down to her. <3 <3 <3

Afternoon all

We've had some horrible weather here. It poured down in the night and was so loud we had trouble getting off to sleep. I think there may of been some hail mixed in with it. Even Sandra said it woke her up and believe me that takes some doing she could sleep through an earthquake lol.

More hail and rain today with a bit of snow added to the mix so I'm staying in today, it went so dark before I had to put some lights on.

I've been quite busy so far today. I had loads of washing.....still plodding through it all. I decided to change the beds and then decided to have a bath so that meant more washing. I don't know where it all comes from :-D :-D.

I've also been updating my tree, thanks to a couple of people who have kindly let me see their tree's. I hope they use my tree to fill in their gaps I did notice they had quite a few and I have the information on my tree which they are welcome to use, should they want to.

It's always nice to share information and to be in contact with new family members. One of the contacts was a second cousin once removed. Well, that's what she said. I'm not sure how to work these things out, so I'll take her word for it :-S I don't mind how we're related, it's just nice to be in contact and to share stories about our family.

I hope you have a lovely time at Hannah's Jane, sorry can't remember if it was today or yesterday you were going. I have read the posts.......Honest :-D :-D.
I did feel for you when you dropped your eggs, and they're not the easiest things to clean up either. Raw eggs feel sticky and just spread around when you try to clean them up. Hope it wasn't to bad for you.

Glad to hear you're feeling much better now Maureen.
I hope little Lewis is on the mend Mandy.

It's a pity you don't live near us Frank, OH loves fishing and would of gladly took you with him. He too doesn't have anyone to go with now because his brother works and so does OH so getting time off together isn't easy. Plus his brother has very young children so spends time with them when he does have any free time. So OH ends up going on his own. He would of loved the company and you wouldn't of had to tie yourself up to anything for fear of falling in the water.

We got some good and bad news the other day. Our neighbour is home from hospital but has to have some carers go round to hers everyday. Apparently she was so bad that they had to revive her in the ambulance. She's on antibiotics so should be back to her normal self in no time.

Unfortunately one of the women who took a shine to OH at work, sadly passed away the other day, she was in her 90's and had a stroke two days before. OH and another carer were with her when she died and he held her hand. I felt so sorry for her daughter as she turned up 30 seconds after her mother had passed away. She must of been parking her car. She thanked OH and the rest of the staff for everything they did for her mother. I'm going to the funeral with OH if he can get the time off work as he's quite upset about it. Not sure when it is yet though.

Sounds like the washing machine has finished so I'd better get back to it and put another load on.

Just how many cards do you paint a year Maureen or have you never counted them?

Bet Frank's having 40 winks as Ros is usually out on a Saturday. He needs to catch up on some sleep if he was up at that time in the morning.

Have a lovely time at Hannah's Jane, I love family get togethers seeing all my grown up children chatting to one another while their little ones play. How's that gorgeous grandson of Janice's, love to see a pic when you can get one, bet he's grown a lot.

Yes I'm glad I don't have to go for 3 years, they must have extended it, used to be 2 or yearly as in my case, they have these screens so you can see what they are doing, don't suppose many people can say they've seen up their own b*cksides !!!

I like to have a wander round Ho**ycraft Ann and it's difficult resisting temptation they have some really nice things, like you said they are a bit pricey probably because they don't have much competition. Kingston has a very good shop, it's mostly materials, cottons and zips etc. but they are really reasonable. Not many places you can buy arts and crafts stuff these days.

Well I'd better get back to my card painting, it's not going very well, I'll give it another go and if it's still not going well will give up for today, there are plenty of other things I can be doing.

Afternoon All,

We just had hail here too, but the sun is shining now. :-) OH has gone to a match near Nottingham after our trip to the village tearoom and garden centre. The lady who runs it has lost about 6 stone in weight and looks so different now. :-0 How she's managed it I don't know with cooking and serving food every day. She makes all her own cakes and pies as well. The leek and stilton pie is particularly nice. She's given me a 20% off coupon for M&S for today as she won't be able to use it. We were going to the retail park tonight anyway as we will be ordering our settees before the sale finishes this weekend.

Frank it's awful when you can't sleep like that, but they do recommend getting up like you do when it happens. I sleep better now, but because I take one of my tablets at night and they keep changing the brand at the chemist's, I get indigestion with some and have to go to bed late after that has settled down! The tablets all have the same ingredient, but some must have different fillers or coatings that cause it. :-S Next time I give them my prescription I shall ask what they will be giving me I think and then go elsewhere if they can't give me the brand that agrees with me!! I have watched Dom before and like his down to earth approach. As you say there are some right dodgy traders about so you do have to be careful. Thanks for the info on those people who try to stop you in your car!!

I could have easily come home with an adorable puppy yesterday!! A tiny black and tan, smooth coated scrap with ears like a Labrador's. He was tied up to the railings outside a shop and getting soaked in the rain. Not happy at being left he kept launching himself forwards to gallop into the shop but couldn't understand why he was getting nowhere. Then he would sit down making little wittering noises for a minute or so. He was all over everyone going into the shop, desperate to make as many new friends as possible and most couldn't resist him. By the time I came out of the shop he'd gone. I thought about him this morning when I read about that cute little blind 8 week old puppy that was dumped in a ladies toilet cubicle at some motorway services. Why don't these people take their animals to a rescue centre rather than leave them to fend for themselves? It had a happy ending though as the manager where he was found has given him a home and has another dog that will be his 'eyes'. :-)

We've got hailstones just as I was going out the door to the shop. I shall wait till it stops as I have to put some eggs on my table on the way out.

We did Frank!! I can remember years later when the boat we had was somewhat larger, sailing in Portsmouth Harbour and going alongside the American Aircraft Carrier, USS John F Kennedy!! It was SO huge and being close up to.it was quite frightening!!! Of course these days you wouldn't be allowed near it, but this was in the early 1980's before the threats we now all face.

Morning all, evening Kim,

I am one little tired boy. I woke at 3.35 for the toilet, and fore the life of me couldn't get back to sleep, so I was up making tea by 4.15 am. Then I had toast and honey with my 2nd.

I put catch up on and watched the canal programme, followed by that DOM Littlewood and the dodgy builders. You can't believe that these people ever get work. One woman who had a disabled child, had to wait for SEVEN YEARS. and still the builder hadn't finished the work. Dom stepped in and completed the work in 3 weeks. A real eye opener for anyone wanting a "TRADES MAN"

Just watching the Blackbirds throwing the pebbles out of the pots again.

:-D :-D I wish they would put them back when they finish LOL Blue
tits busy round the nest box also.

The weather can't make up it's mind. Sunshine then cloud and it seems the wind is getting up.

As a child the only place we ever went was SOUTHEND ON SEA. (Thames estuary) No sand just mud flats. but we were able to go in the water. That was our Annual trip :-( :-( :-(

I always managed to take MY two children away to the seaside for days out, and for two weeks in the summer. How I ever afforded it I don't know.

Ann it just goes to show what these TEALEAFS do with the safes etc. I know when my shop got broken into, the stole the till with the float in it, that was found in a local lake close to the edge. They caught the little so and so and his mates, as someone got the car registration. I got nothing in compensation nor even for the booze and fags they took. Nice little boys (I DON'T THINK)

I don't use a bar of soap in the shower, but the shower gel often ends up on the floor as does the shampoo bottle and nail brush. (Flaying arms) ;-) ;-)

Liz, that must have been an experience going round the BIG SHIPS in your little boat, I bet you felt like a pimple on an Elephant's bum. lol

Off for a coffee, and a read of my book, if I can stay awake.

Morning all and evening Kim,

Bright and sunny here at the moment but there is a very cold wind with it and some clouds sudding across the sky.

Nothing planned for today except the shop for the paper then it is stay inside in the warm.

I have a feeling it is going to be very quiet on here today.

She hasn't got some news to impart has she Jane with gathering all the family........like a new boyfriend maybe?

Oh yes Liz, I forgot you are a water sign too!! That was an interesting start to your married life and nice places to live with the sea so close. We drove by Culdrose when we were in Cornwall last year. It covers a big area doesn't it. I have never lived by the sea, but like to 'see' it every year if I can!! Maybe one day I might end up living nearer the coast......who knows! :-)

Off to bed now. I think there is supposed to be some snow forecast in our region tomorrow, but more to the west of us. It sounds like it will be colder anyway. Night night......xx

No it's not Hannahs birthday yet.it is next month The reason why we are all going is that she just wanted to have a little get together with all the family at hers.
I probably won't be back now until late tomorrow. So until then

I'm a water sign too Ann! Aquarius the water carrier! Mid Jan - Feb. I loved living by the sea when Ian was in the Fleet Airarm the first two years we were married. First at Culdrose in Cornwall, and then Portland. Our son was as born in Cornwall, but I enjoyed living on Portland Island the best as it was closer to home, our garden went nearly to the edge of the cliff, and you could sit on the wall and wave to the sailors on passing ships!! Weymouth beach was lovely and we had a small boat that we used to go round Portland harbour on a summers evening to look at the ships, and the creepy submarines. My parents used to come and stay as they too loved the sea. They were happy days!

I watched the Bear Grills program Frank. I like Emilia Fox and James Fox so was intereted to see how they got on. I thought James would have been more organized than he was. Surely they could have worked out how to put the hammocks up properly. They needed my Oh there to give them a hand with everything.

I obviously missed it too! Jane did mention getting 2 nice tops for Hannah. :-) Have a nice time anyway Jane!

They've emptied one of the canal locks in the city for maintenance and amongst all the rubbish there were 7 looted safes that had been chucked in there!!

Why when you drop a bar of soap in the shower does it land on your toe a lot of the time! :-S

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 20 Feb 2015 21:17

Have I missed a post too???? I know you said it was Hannah's birthday in a few days but thats all I read. Are you all going to Hannah's??

Frank

Frank Report 20 Feb 2015 20:49

Well I am out of the way till 9.00 pm. I just mentioned who is that behind the pub on the floor. Off she went, I TOLD YOU YESTERDAY. Forget I said, I am not getting worked up over a Bl###y soap.

The only fried I had who could have taken me fishing, died over a year a year ago.So thinking of it, it might not be the best idea I have had today. Sid had a heart attack and fell in the lake.. I did tell you all about it.

Those eggs sound good value Mandy. I must go up to the pub in Gayton, they get double yolker's from a farm nearby. I forgot to ask last time I was there.

I think we have all tried to catch a falling object, eggs, tomato's milk bottle etc. Never with much success. But if we don't try we wouldn't know if we might have saved it. ;-) ;-) ;-) I sometimes drop a saucepan and try to stop it with my foot, not a good idea as it hurts like mad if it hits you wrong.

Is it Hannah birthday tomorrow Jane, ?? Is that why all the family are meeting at hers ?? Give her my best wishes, and hope you all have a lovely meal out somewhere (you usely do)!!! Are you driving down or catching the rattler. ??

I can hear one part of E E has finished only another half hour and I can watch Bear Grills. That should be good entertainment for a change !!! :-P :-P :-P

No lunchtime football tomorrow, so I will stay at home. BUT Sunday. WEST HAM are playing SPURS at midday So you know where I will be then. I can cook dinner when I return hic hic.

I have recorded the Canal programme, which I enjoyed last week. So will watch that in the morning while Ros is out shopping.

I will just mention. There are some SCUMBAGS trying to stop cars around the COUNTRY and asking for a lift to the petrol station, or asking for money for petrol and offering a gold ring or watch. BE CAREFUL I have told ROS not to stop for anyone and to phone the police as soon as it is safe to do so. IT'S JUST A WARNING. I get regular updates from Northants Police that's how I know about this.

I can hear Corrie on now, so E.E. must be a wash out as a live programme. Unless she has recorded it :-D :-D :-D

Still no word from our SHIRL, I trust she is looking in, if so I send my love <3 <3 <3
