O so you know what I meant by Dirty McSquirty Vera.. Thought that would make someone laugh. Yes oh got his brother with it when we first had it over my pond. My pond seems to be quite safe as it has netting all around and over the top but the Heron still stands on the wooden supports over the top to support the fine netting.
I have just turned my heating on as it is bitter here today with a very strong wind blowing all the leaves in oh's pond. I have given up netting them off as there are so many and I am hoping the wind will drop later on and I can do it then.
O gosh what on earth is that yellow thing in the sky out back????? Its not out the front.

Good afternoon all
I had a very busy day yesterday so didn't find time to post and today is going the same way so I thought I'd do a post while I have got a moment.
I hope you enjoyed yourself at the Pershore Nurseries AnnG and it wasn't too cold.
Mel I laughed at your Dirty McSwirty. We had a water squirter that had a motion censor and would squirt the heron if it landed on the wall round our pond. The trouble is I regularly got squirted as well. OH had fixed up a switch nearby so that we could switch it off if we were going to be passing by the squirter but I kept forgetting. In the end we took it down and put a fine black thread about 6 inches above the top of the wall the heron would land on. The bird wouldn't step over it so couldn't get to OH's prize fish. Btw, has the waterboard been to sort out your low pressure yet?
We had our Club AGM last night followed by a quiz which we did in tables of 4. It was good fun with lots of laughter and I won a raffle prize.
Now I must get on and make some phone calls. I have to rebook my choiropody appointment that I cancelled last week, phone the pharmacy at the surgery about reissuing my repeat prescription and phone the hospital about my overdue eye appointment. I am not too worried about that as my eye isn't too bad at the moment but I need to remind them that the doc wanted to see me in 6 weeks and we are now at 10 weeks. I can make these appointments now as WE HAVE A CAR. At last.
It has been so cold here that OH put our heating on this morning. I was hoping to hang it out till after our weekend in Yorkshire but we were both so chilled yesterday that we gave in and put in on. It will be on till next spring now. I expect the bills will start to climb sky high again.
Now I really must get on.

Just went out for a ciggy and there on the decking between the two ponds was a heron.
I shooed it away but it came back and I think it will be back again. I shall have to try and fix up Dirty McSwirty. It may not work with low water pressure but it worth giving it a try.

Yes I wondered about Vera’s car. They will be really cross if it is still not ready. It doesn’t hurt Mel to have a day doing nothing.

Bet your feet feel nice now Anng.
Not done anything today. Hav'nt felt like it only fed the chickens and fish and fished a few leaves out of the pond.
Think I have a cold as over the weekend I was sneezing nd blowing my nose a lot and had a bit of a sore throat.
Shingles jab is better today but still hurts a bit.
Better get some spuds on for dinner and some broccoli to go with my mince carrots and onions.

Well I actually ended up having a lovely day. Anne picked me up at 11.45 and took me to the big Tesco. I bought £40 worth of the stuff from my current shopping list which is transferred to tomorrow. I was going to cancel it but I might, instead not have a delivery next weekend.
We had a toastie and a coffee in Tesco then brought the shopping home and then drove down to Slimbridge. It was absolutely beautiful there clear blue skies and brilliant sun and it didn't feel that cold. I really enjoyed it. Loved seeing the flamingoes and two very young otters. As well as all the birds. It was a great afternoon. Lovely to see all the young children enjoying the birds too. And they stood or sat very quietly while the otters were fed and then the girl gave an interesting talk about them
Now I must go and put the rest of the shopping away and find my door keys. I let myself in with them when we came home with the shopping but put them down somewhere and couldn't find them when we went back out. So used another set. they are in here somewhere
edit: Found them, I had dropped them into my bag but into a different compartment to where they usually live. Got to charge up my camera now.

Morning girls,
Its 7 degrees here and sunny blue skies with this wispy cloud to the north and not a breath of wind at the moment.
I had a lie in this morning as I knew nobody was coming. The washing I put out yesterday fared well during the night and shouuld dry today if it stays fine. I do hope Mandy is getting better now with her back and its is'nt giving her so much pain.
My necks a bit stiff today but bearable it should go off as I move about as I think I lay funny last night. I had a dream but cannot for the life of me remember anything about it just that I did'nt like it and was glad it was only a dream.

Morning all,
Lovely sunshine here but boy was it chilly when I woke up ,we haven't had the heating on yet but we have had a couple fires that take the chill off . My back seemed OK yesterday so I did manage to get all my Geraniums out of the boxes and tubs so that was good as I think there was a bit of frost I could see a little white on next doors summerhouse roof, but this morning it's a bit niggly again so no gardening today.
I had my letter to book my covid jab so got that sorted for next Thursday.
Hope your arm is less painful today Mel
Vera hope you hear about your car tomorrow you don't half miss them when they are in the garage and yours has been in a while now.
I wonder what the problem was with your delivery this week Anng perhaps it might be better having it a different day at least you got it booked for tomorrow so not to bad .

good morning all. I think there was a slight frost last night it is still only 0 degrees, but it is bright and sunny so that is a plus. I do now have my heating on very low but that is taking the chill off. I also didn't have the shingles jab Mel like Vera. But I did have a mild case of shingles and it was very painful. Daughter also had shingles, hers was more painful than mine and a friend had it in her head and neck and she was really poorly so I am not surprised the vaccination against it is painful.
My arms were not too bad last night, just woke me a few times if I laid on the covid arm. Although the flu arm was a bit painful yesterday evening that seemed fine overnight and is the least achey now. both are just a bit stiff.
I am, for the second week running, very cross with Tesco as they have cancelled my delivery again. According to the delivery lad last week it was a van problem. I am thinking, if it is the same this week why did they accept orders for the same time this week. Luckily Cynth took me to the local Tesco on our way back from the vaccinations and I bought all fresh veg and one lot of meat. I do, of course have food in the freezer and will not run out of anything but if they are going to start being unreliable I will have to have a re-think. Can't email them any more you can only contact by phone or what's app. I used what's app last week for a refund I needed and that worked ok but it was talking to a 'bot', not a human. I have done the same as last week and re-ordered for tomorrow.

Good morning all
Brrr.....it’s cold today. IPad is saying it’s 3 degrees and feels like 0.
I couldn’t have the shingles jab Mel. It was done in age bands and I kept missing the cut off point. Now I’m too old anyway. I hope you are less sore today.
No idea what I’ll be doing today. My back is a bit easier but I’ll be doing everything very carefully. I hope Mandy’s back is less painful now.
Have a good day everyone and stay warm.

I was wondering if you lot have had your shingles jab as mine still hurts today and is still hot and a bit red in blotches.
BIL came at lunchtime just as I was eating my pie I bought at the shop so I would'nt have to get any lunch or washup. He hd eaten so I did'nt have to do him naything. He had a look at the new water meter thing they put in to see if he could turn it up a bit but its just an on off thing for if I have a leak lower down the pipe to the house. He forgot to bring my strimmer back which made me cross because I could have used that today. He brought new washer things for the old UV light but did'nt fit them but while he was here I got him to take the filter box mesh tray out for me to clean and I did the filter twice too. I can't even see in the filter box with the mesh in and BIL can only just reach it but can't see inside either but he gave it a swirt out with the hose and a lot of muck came out into the filter which I was cleaning and draining so it should be good for another week now. Apart from that I have done a bit of varnishing and did a wash too but late so its on the line in the cold and the winds dropped now. I shall probably have to bring it in tomorrow and dry it in the uti room.
Hope Mandy's back is a bit easier today and sending wishes. <3

Well the queue was right out of the door, It was all well organised but we are such a large surgery and a lot of their patients are in the right age bracket. I was half an hour past my booked time. I think they might have had a technical fault earlier. Cynth has gone this afternoon 2pm appointment and took about as long as I did judging by when she got back.. I was told by the nurse doing the actual vaccinations that I was a very good patient, because I was calm, ready and not fussing or fidgeting. I thought I should have had a lollipop or a badge and a pat on the head for being a good girl.
I t is a beautiful but cold day 13 degrees now, no wind and bright sunshine.
I had better stop now, my 'flu arm' which is the right hand one, is aching.

After more overnight rain it’s a lovely October day here; blue skies, white clouds and plenty of sunshine but it is cold. Weather app says it’s 13 degrees but feels like 11 and there is quite a strong wind from the North.. For the first time in a long while I had to wear a jacket outside.
I hope your back is a bit easier today Mandy. You will need to take it easy for a couple of days and then only do a little bit at a time in the garden. I shouldn’t be giving advice as I don’t do what I tell others to do so my back is bad today. I think I might have been a bit cold last night and slept all sort of scrunched up. Then I stupidly decided to get on in the garden while it was dry and, like you, probably did too much.
I hope your jabs were OK AnnG and you don’t have any after effects.
OH rang the car place at around 5 pm yesterday and couldn’t get any reply even though they are supposed to be open till 5.30. He has emailed them but I shouldn’t think we’ll get a reply before Monday.
I didn’t feel like sorting out a Sunday roast this week so I’ve put a huge beef casserole in the oven that will feed us today and tomorrow with probably a helping for the freezer as well. It’s been so warm that we haven’t had that sort of dinner for a long while so it will make a nice change.
