Mel Fairy Godmother Report 26 Sep 2023 09:30

Morning Girls and Will if you're looking in,

It was sunny when I got up but its clouded over a bit now and pc says partly sunny and 15 degrees.

One of my favorites drivers is bring my shopping today and I have one sub a bigger pack of strawberries than I ordered so thats good. Last weeks was a large double cream instead of my usual so I hav'nt bought that this week as its still in date for a day and then I can have icecream with the others.

Got up while it was dark nd had a job to drop off again and tossed and turned for a bit but must have slept in the end as when I woke the sun was out. Asda always send a message saying the driver is on the was at 7.01am and that woke me to start with then I dropped off again till 9am. y shoulder is aching this morning too.

Glad you enjoyed your visit to Tewkesbury Ann it sounded so interesting and just my cup of tea with making the Tudor things at the mo.

Good morning all, wet and 14 degrees and I have to walk to the dentist for a check up this morning so not a lot of fun.

Vera Tewkesbury is a medieval market town in the 7th century known as Theocsbury. It has some lovely old black and white buildings and a beautiful abbey, (Medieval cottages exist alongside Tudor town houses and Georgian architecture. There was once a network of 90 alleyways around the town and 30 still exist today)
It has two rivers that meet, the Avon and the Severn (really just tributeries) It has a battle field (War of the Roses) and a lot of history
So far we have done two walks around and T and I visited the Abbey more than once. There is still a lot to see. However it has a big problem in that the road through the town is always busy as it is a main through road heading towards Worc and the M50.

Hallo William, nice to see you. Belated congratulations on your wedding anniversary. How lovely that you and your best man want to give something back to your church. I hope the book sells well and makes a good amount for their building fund.

Mel, I know I shouldn't laugh but I had a vision of you with dressmaking pins stuck all over you. I assume they were acupuncture needles. It might help. I had acupuncture years ago to help with migraine and my sleep problems I asked my then GP about it and she said it might help and wouldn't do any harm but it wasn't available at the surgery so I had to go private. I had quite a few sessions and it did seem to help a bit, at least for a while.

Funny how what suits one person doesn't suit another. Like Island I prefer capsules as I find it's tablets that stick in my throat.

It sounds as though it was an interesting walk you went on AnnG. I don't think I have ever been to Tewkesbury but the name alone makes me think it must be an attractive place.

It's been a beautiful day today with lots of really warm sunshine, although it's now beginning to feel chilly in the early mornings and in the evenings. It's also been quite a hectic day. I changed bedding, did four loads of washing and a little bit of gardening before lunch. At the moment I'm clearing pots and troughs of dead or dying annuals and doing some general tidying up. I did mention to OH that I was thinking of clearing the troughs of weeds and moss and then covering them with black plastic through the winter. Well, I am now definitely doing that as the 2 cats living over the back from us seem to think my newly cleared troughs are their personal litter trays. I found some strong black plastic bags in the garage so before I came in for lunch I covered the four troughs that I had cleared and pegged the corners down with some short wooden spikes I also found in the garage.

I had plans to shower and wash my hair after lunch, then come on the computer for a while but the best laid plans.... We had two separate unexpected visitors, one arriving as the other left so from 2.30 to 6 pm I was kept busy making tea and chatting. It's a hard life, lol. It put me well behind with what I was going to do but I'm not complaining. It's nice to see people and one of them has offered me a lift to a birthday lunch on Thursday which is great as I wouldn't be able to go without a lift.

I'm getting tired now and have a few things to do before bed so I'll wish you all goodnight, sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite.

Acupuncture Mel? I wish my surgery did that - I wish they did something! I'm not sure if there's a gp there these days, seems to be nurse run.

How strange, I prefer capsules as they go down easily but tablets get stuck. I'll take caplets if no choice.

William, I think you'll find it's Bed'uth LOL No, I don't live there, just in the know. Unless you're posh of course.....

William Report 25 Sep 2023 08:33

Good morning all. Just thought I'd pay a surprise visit and say hello with a brief update. Last weekend Carmel and I celebrated our 44th anniversary, nothing too fussy but we did attend the church where we were married here, Bedworth UR 'Old Meeting' church and were duly mentioned in dispatches and generally made a fuss of coming away with a floral display nobbled from the Harvest Festival display. On Friday afternoons we attend the 'Welcome Space, there in the church hall adjoining and over last winter made lots of new friends. They love my poems there and have nicknamed me 'The Brad of Bedworth', as I have done a lot of local poems. So far since January 2021 I have penned about 85 poem's and about 35 short stories, most of which I post on my Facebook site. I have just self published my third booklet of poem's, this one in conjunction with my artist pal, who was also my Best Man at our wedding. John and I have financed it and all the proceeds are going to the building fund at the church as my way of giving something back for all the welcomes we have had over the years. We plod on in our senior years, I'm 88 now and Carmel is 91 and we still manage to draw beath each morning. Carmel has little mobility these days and a lot of health problems but on the bright side, none are life threatening. Well, have bored you all I shall now go and rustle up some breakfast and enjoy some sunshine while it lasts. Best wishes to each and everyone, those who know me from old and those who don't. Hope you get your post off OK Mel.

Thank you for the photos Mandy, they are very cute.

Mel that is a nuisance about the lost parcel, however it could still turn up, I didn’t get any post all week, then had two letters today, Sunday how strange.

Vera I miss travelling abroad as well. Sometimes it is difficult to think I was ever there. I won’t go again either.I am enjoying seeing part of the UK I have not visited before.

It was a good trip, if tiring. The weather was kind it was dry, dull and warm but very windy. The tour lasted two hours, walking or standing all the time. He was a very knowledgeable speaker, we actually covered parts Zoe Tewkesbury I had not seen, must go back along the canal path it was pretty. The talk was about the alleyways and why they are there but also really how some of the town has changed as slums were knocked down and modern buildings built as many of the preserved buildings are attractive black and white buildings and some of the red brick replacements are nit attractive I am not sure they were an improvement. The alleys are all named and, as they were named by the post office when more people moved in in the 19 century they bear the names of the person who owned the cottage the alley belonged to at that date.

Good Afternoon all

It’s a bit of a nothing day here- not hot but not cold, not sunny but not raining. The only definite thing about it is the wind which my weather app is calling a moderate breeze.

I hope the PO can find your parcels for you Mel. I know occasional things go missing but that’s 2 you’ve lost recently. Very frustrating for you.

Your walk round Tewkesbury sounds interesting AnnG. I hope the rain held off for you.

I had to smile at the wild swimming neighbour and the wet suit Ann. I wonder if his wife told him what you were laughing about.

Aren’t Mandy’s rabbits cute? As I said to her in my email reply she could start a soft toy shop. I love all their different little shoes and sandals.

I don’t seem to have done much today. I’m not sure where the time has gone. We had our normal 2 o’clock Sunday dinner but slightly different from our usual roast today. I did roast gammon with jacket potatoes and lots of stir fried veg.

I had a surprise this morning. It was a FaceTime call from son and dil - from Crete. They had got a good last minute deal. They were lounging round the hotel pool and I could see a brilliant blue sea in the background. I am sooo jealous. I miss travelling abroad. We were never ones for spending our time on the beach or round the hotel pool but we did enjoy seeing diffferent sights and learning about different cultures and ways of living. Age, health problems and the prohibitive cost of insurance mean we are unlikely to go overseas again.

Right, I’d better go and find something to do. I haven’t looked at today’s newspaper yet and I like the crosswords in the Sunday paper so I think a read of the paper and a cup of tea is calling me.

Morning girls,

I have had another message saying a parcel I posted on the 15th Sept has'nt arrived. This is the second one now. I have been worrying about it since 9am. I sent the lady a message but she has'nt come back to me yet. I also message the lady I posted to at the same time and she has come back to me to say she has recieved her parcel so I can't understand why the other one did'nt recieve hers. Both posted signed for.

Now I have to get in touch with the PO to see what can be done. I ccan make more of the things she bought but until I get something from the PO I don't want to refund her and have to make two more.

It worries me when this happens and my payments are on hold till its sorted. The cost of tracked post would be almost as much if not more than the items I sell as I can't print ebay labels.

Waiting for a pic Mandy of the rabbits. I hope you are charging a good price for them with all the work you put in and it must cost you a lot for the wool.

Enjoy your day out Anng it sounds really interesting and I hope the weather is kind to you. Pc is saying 17 degrees here and partly sunny but Iv'e not seen any yet and its been raining that fine stuff here.

Morning Anng ,morning all,

Very overcast here but I think it should get out this afternoon, not sure how chilly it is as I haven't ventured out yet .

Anng enjoy your lunch and the guided tour I should think it will be quite interesting, hope it stays dry for you .

Not sure if family are coming this morning as we saw them yesterday but we are having a relaxing day after a week of odd jobs .

I have finished knitting all the rabbits so I'm pleased about that and I can now start on something else but not sure what yet .
