Good morning all slept ok and I think it was cooler last night 17 degrees now though at 0700 so going up again. bedding in wash so can't go back to bed. Not got anything planned today until an audiology appointment to have new molds fitted at 5pm. what a silly time of day to have to be in Gloucester, Cynth will drop me off but I will come home by bus goodness knows what the buses are like around 6pm.

I slept in fits and starts. It was 29 here but is extremely windy and the temp has dropped to 27. I have managed about half an hour in the garden potting on a couple of cuttings that I need to move outside for when we are away so that it is easier for Cynth to water for me.

Boy, it’s hot. According to the IPad it’s 30 degrees but feels like 34. All I know is that I am melting.
I had a lovely shower and hair wash first thing this morning. It was wonderful. I have been having an all over wash while my eye has been bad but there’s nothing quite like a proper shower when it’s hot and sticky.
Did any of you sleep much last night? My OH seems to be able to sleep whatever the weather but the heat kept me awake most of the night. I just had short dozes so I feel pretty tired now. I might put my feet up and read for a while in front of my big fan. You never know I might even doze off ;-)

Gosh its been hot today and its still 26 degrees now. I did a little bit of gardening today and picked a few more strawberries but the rain had ruin some of them. They don't like sitting in wet but banty was happy to eat those ones and they were bigger than the others I picked.
Did the shop this morning late but got what I wanted so that was good.
I thought it may be that church Vera. Sounds like they have done a lot to it to restore it and fancy there being bees in the roof they picked a good place, bless them. I love bees.
I am so hot and I have just had a COT which has'nt helped so I may go and put on my gongalongs as they are nice and cool.

Temperature is much the same here AnnG and there is no breeze so it feels stifling. You are good to have done any gardening. I couldn’t face it in this heat.
Our tour of the church restoration this morning was very good. It was lovely and cool so I didn’t want to leave. They were only taking 4 groups of 10 so we were lucky to get included. There’s been a lot of work on the roof and the stained glass and they’ve gone back to old fashioned radiators but with 2 modern gas boilers that can be switched to hydrogen if that becomes the fuel to use in the future. Toilets and a better kitchen have gone in and all sorts of other changes have taken place, including the removal of 70,000 bees from the roof space where there was a honeycomb stretching right along a beam. The project manager was there this morning and he said it was a wonder there wasn’t honey dripping through the ceiling. The bees have been “rehomed” about 7 miles away. Apparently if it’s less than 5 miles the bees will find their way back. There were lots of stories about things that were found, including 2 lead coffins found under the south aisle. Work had to stop while they were investigated. They have worked out whose coffins they are and they are being left untouched. It was a really worthwhile visit. It is the church you were thinking of Mel. I was surprised to learn that it is still consecrated.
Just seen the time. If we are going to eat tonight I’d better start preparing something.

26 degrees here, very hot and sticky. I did manage to get the lawn cut but I don't have any more room in the wheely bin or the large weeding bucket. Lawn cuttings went into my compost bin, I don't like putting too much grass in there but that should be ok. This morning we had a wonderful air display almost right over our houses. Four low flying F11 fighter jets did two circuits. We are not sure why, It is armed forces day so they could have been doing a flypast Over the barracks up the road or another theory is they were returning to RAF Fairford from an exercise in Germany. Very loud and 'in your face' but great to see.

Morning Anng and all,
Bit cloudy here this morning but its quite warm at the mo at 18 degrees and pc says partly sunny.
I was just cutting down some of the branches over banties cage when BIL turned up yesterday and fprgot all about it. When I went ot corn her last night all the branches were still on the ground with the brimbles I had cut alos. A dreadful mess which I left there so I shall have to pick that lot up today.
Enjoy the church visit Vera and do be careful with that eye. Am I right in thinking it the big church in the middle of Sudbury??

Good morning all 19 degrees here but typically with our holiday so I see that there is a cold front expected later in the week. By the time we go away I bet the temperature drops and it rains. Cynth is due back today so thank goodness that is my watering duties halved. Vera we both have quite a few pots and baskets to water so she does mine when I go away.

How did my Edit end up in the middle of my last post? I am sure I went back in and added it to the end of the post.
AnnG, that's a good thought about goggles. I am sure we have some in the garage. I don't think it will be too dusty now but I might just slip some goggles in my bag. I'll also have my sunglasses and they have wide side pieces as they are meant to make it easier for me to cope with sunlight flickering through the trees when we are driving. That flickering light can be enough to bring on a migraine.
Our neighbours are away for a few days. Someone is coming in tomorrow night to give their whole garden a soaking with the hose but I said I would look after their pots and their tomato plants in between times. I went in to do that a little while ago; I had forgotten how many pots they have! J mentioned to me that she's never grown tomatoes before and how lovely and bushy hers are and how thrilled she is with them. Now I've seen them close up I can tell they look bushy because she's crowded them very close together and hasn't picked off any side shoots which are very long now. In fact they are getting side shoots of their own. I'll have to tactfully tell her when she comes back about picking them off.
I am so tired that I am going to have an early night though it's still 23 degrees with hardly a breath of air so I am not optimistic about sleeping much. I hope you all have a good night.

That sounds interesting era, it would be just up our groups' street. enjoy it. Is it likely to be dusty? If so should you have a pair of safety googles handy or maybe your sunglasses would surfice.
Good that your eye feels better today. I am sure the injections work differently on different people depending on the reason for having them. And maybe the dosage is different.

That's a lovely special memory AnnG, one to cherish.
I'm not brave at all when it comes to the eye injections. If I don't have them I will lose my sight so it's Hobson's Choice really. Faced with that choice I am sure you would opt to have the jabs as well. Loads of people have them but it's mostly for macular degeneration and they don't seem to suffer more than a bit of soreness. One chap I know has his injection and then hops on a bus for the 20 mile trip home. I wouldn't even be able to safely cross the road to the bus stop on my own. I think we have the same injection but maybe it has a different effect on me as it's given for a different reason (retinal vein occlusion).
EDIT: Mandy, if you get more rain could you please send some this way. We are desperate. It's still 25 degrees with hardly a cloud in the sky and no rain forecast for the foreseeable.
Anyway it is a lot better today. The eye is still sore and feels as though there is a large lump of something stuck in the corner but I can open it normally and get on and do a few small jobs.
The next thing I have to do is go and post a letter to my cousin who has sadly lost her husband this week. It wasn't unexpected but somehow it is still a shock.
Tomorrow morning we are going on a hard-hat tour of the restoration work at the big church in the middle of town. It closed as a church in the 1970s but the building has been in constant use since then. The Churches Conservation Trust has spent the last 3 or 4 years on a big restoration project and it will reopen in the autumn. On Saturday they are doing 4 tours at different times but the numbers have to be limited. All our friends and people from the local clubs we belong to applied for tickets but they went almost immediately and none of them were lucky. I guessed they would be like gold dust so applied the minute the applications opened and managed to get two tickets for the first tour at 10 am. It is free but safety issues mean they can only take a few people round at a time. I'm looking forward to it.

Afternoon all,
Cloudy here today and very muggy ,I took ages to get to sleep last night it was so warm,we had had very heavy rain in the afternoon with thunder and lightning and I had to close the big windows in the bedrooms so they didn't have the nice air blowing through to cool them before bedtime.
Vera I think your so brave to go through those injections in your eye it makes my toes curl and eyes water just thinking about it . I hope the pain and redness is easing a bit now for you .
I just wrapped Laceys birthday presents ready for Sunday she will be eleven ,I got her some clothes and we always put a little money in the card .
A happy memory Anng was it love at first sight.
Oh Mel nothing worse than someone with bad breath, that's when the face masks came in handy , not many people wearing face masks now though.

Morning Anng and all,
Its turned a bit grey here since I was up early for the loo. Its 18 degrees and pc says mostly cloudy.
I wonder if BIL will come today? The grass still has'nt grown much but there is plenty of other things that could be done.I do wish he would ring and let me know but he has always been the same even when he came round to see oh.
Anng thats a lovely memory to have and the day before Midsummers day. That reminds me its Di's birthday tomorrow so I have to do her present up.
Vera I do hope your poor eye is a bit better today. Its so horrid anything to do with the eyes and if you have the smallest bit of something in them it always feels like a boulder. I expect the gritty feeling is where the needle went in. You are very brave as its something I done think I could have done at all. My mum did but she refused to go anymore after a few times it so upset her.
I have two parcels to do up for thigs sold once again on ebay so I better get myself into gear. Arms a bit better today till I start using it or lifting things.
