Frank.......you GO FOR IT with the art classes. You could record or watch Joy of Painting with Bob Ross. He's on 240 Discrealtime (Lifestyle and Culture) on Sky. He's on tomorrow 4.30 am to 6.00 am in half hour slots. You will be amazed what he can do with big brushes that I would use to paint emulsion.....I promise you. Sadly, he died in the 70s I think, but he is a lovely, gentle soul. After watching him last year and being amazed and with our Maureen's brilliant help and encouragement I started to do some painting last year just on old wallpaper. I have only done 2 or 3 but it is very relaxing and satisfying. I eventually sent pics of them to Maureen and Shirl! lol I will see if I can send them to you ......they aren't brilliant, but I am only a beginner!! lol. There is another chap, can't remember his name now who does watercolours and is on sometimes between or after Bob Ross on tv. You could always paint in blue, orange and yellow!!

Evening All,
I love the 'bra' poem Liz. That lady does sound quite a character.......I must say I do like people like that.
Fiona, your OH sounds like mine was before he retired......he would go back to work, then arrive home with a full diary for a few months ahead!! At least he was in the same country though, but it made it hard to plan any breaks. I think it is an excellent idea for you to get away for a bit and recharge your batteries and relax......will do you good. Where are you going Mel.......was it the Norfolk Broads on a boat?? Do the banties tend to start laying later than the others. Oh meant to say, did you get a pic of the new baby chicks last year? They are so cute as babies.
Never mind Jane, you weren't very well at xmas.......I bet Fitz will sort his BIG tree early next year....... I can just picture him lugging a huge tree inside. They must dress the top half from on the landing! lol
I hadn't realised the price of Caulis had gone up that much!! I suppose the weather may have spoiled some with all the snow.
Frank, let's hope the stones go away. A friend who had them a few years ago said she was in agony with hers. I think she said she passed hers so didn't have to have anything done.

Hi Folks
Thanks for the offer of help. My grandmother was called Barbara Mcgill and she was born 1888 in Newcastle upon Tyne. Her fathers name was Joseph Henry Mcgill c 1862 and her mother Isabella Shotton born 1867.Her siblings included Johnc1900,Thomas1903, Williamc1899, Joanna1896, Martha Catherinec1894,Elizabeth 1906, Joseph 1890 And Robert Shotton Mcgill1886. The Durham site is still very good but doesn't cover Newcastle and I have been unable to find a good site for that area. Millions of thanks off to eat tea now as fruit and veg has now arrived

Frank you talked about an art class for yourself. what are you like drawing? pretty good, what about pen and ink pictures or charcoal and chalk. You can get very good effects with those mediums and it dos'nt matter about colours.

Still ironing and now off to do the chickens.
Anne I said we would always help.
I used to use a smashing site for Durham lookups but they changed it. You could look at marriages and everything for free.
16.28 and still light

Hi Again
Have had a frustrating hour trying to find my grandmothers family in the 1901 Census. I sometimes wonder if Genes carries all the records as I can go onto the Durham site and find info there!! Off to cook the tea now. D'ont worry hubby has own towel etc. He seems brighter today so we may get out tomorrow.

Glad your enjoying the thread Anne.
I am glad you did'nt have to carry those 32 boxes of icecream home!!!!
I had a pony when I was young and so did the other Ann.
Liz and Ian have Merlin and he is lovely as I have seen a pic of him with Ian in the saddle.
Make sure you don't use the same towel or facecloth as Hubby Anne.

Ooh Conjunctivitis .That is horrible Anne ,I hope it clears up for your OH soon. And Frank painful thing Kidney Stones.I hope your Buscopan helps.
Talking of horses, some years ago when my sister and I went to stay with Mum,we had a crazy idea to go horse riding!.Janice had always enjoyed it as a young girl .I had lessons but was never a confident rider.Anyway we booked 2 horses somewhere up near the moor and I asked for a nice quiet horse .We got just outside the stables and a little way up the lane and my horse just decided to stop lol.It wouldn't go forwards or Backwards. My sister had trotted off ahead and then realised I wasn't with her.I can't really what happened then but I think someone from the stables came out and I was put on a leading reign !!!!!.I knew it was a bad idea to go.
My pooter is playing up a bit this afternoon so I am going to get on with some ironing.BBL

Hi Everyone.
Have spent the morning in town having coffee with my friend from the tourist information centre and then having my hair done which is one of the pleasures in life! I also had to order 32 boxes of icecream for the panto ( no I wont eat them all myself ) and had a quick look at the sales. Being my usual silly self I saw some very cheap dishclothes on the way to the hairdressers and decided to wait until afterwards to collect. Guess what!! they had all gone, typical. Fiona do have a holiday somewhere warm and relaxing and take time to recharge your batteries. Frank I do know Ware as I lived in Herts many years ago. I am an only child of an only child on my mothers side. My fathers sister and brother have also died and I have three cousins somewhere who I have not seen since my fathers funeral 11years ago so my family is rather small. I shall enjoy news of ytou and yours Sheila I know nothing of pigs but hope all is well soon. * Mel * I know a little more about horses having a horsey dad, that sounds wrong but you know what I mean!! I used to ride, very badly, and still enjoy being around them. I am hoping to get granddaughter on board soon Have to say I am really enjoying this chat thing. Must go now to tend to hubby who has conjunctivitis, I might have told you this yesterday but cannot remember, it must be my age!

Dr. didn't ring till 12.45, so didn't go out for coffee. He has told me to take my "BUSCOPAN" that I had last time they played up. If no better, go and see him next week.
Talking of art. We have a local art class, that I am thinking of joining, as a beginner. The only trouble is I am COLOUR BLIND. All shades of red, green, brown look the same. What sort of picture would I paint ????. would be interesting to find out. will have to have a word with my neighbour, who is an excellent water colout artist. see what he thinks I know what you mean about these tills Mel, Once when up the Club, I bought a round of drinks and it came to over £4,500.00 I said can I pay be card !!!! needless to say the barman had cocked it up. !!!!

Just come back from the docs and popped in our local shop to get my Monday paper. A friend of mine was in there buying some bits and pieces and wanting to pay her account, which she must have queried before I came in. It appears the account was for over £1000!!!!!!!! Keith checked it and came back into the shop and asked Jill if she had bought 2 and a half tons of potatoes before Christmas!!!!!!! Just hsows you what can happen on these new fangled tills...............................................

Yes Mel, it was a 'lady' friend who sent the card! She is now 80 years old and was more a friend of my mother's, her age being in between the two of us!! She is an Artist and quite eccentric, but really really nice! no husband, ever, not surprising really! but always has/had a man friend in tow! For her 80th birthday she did a sky dive over Northern France!! and is at present 'doing' an Art Exhibition in the Crimea!!! a real character! Sunny day here, but windy, groomed Millie and must now take her for her walk.

Good morning all, I phoned the Drs. this morning, I've gone on his phone surgery thingy. waiting for call back. Didn't want to waste time for him, he must be busy. I seem to have my kidney stones playing up again, I've got some tablets for them, but I am getting pains again. Last time I had them blasted in the hospital. He can tell me if I need that treatment again.
Ros has gone down to the Chapel Coffee Shop to meet up with some of the Tapestry ladies. I said I would walk down to have a coffee with her after the Dr. rings, Lets hope he's late then I won't have to go. !!!!
Jane, I believe you, thousands wouldn't !!!!
What an unusual verse for a Christmas Card.Liz, but rings true.
Weather here is quite cold and windy. Hope I don't have to go walkabout.
The top layer of my stored apples are going soft, so am putting two or three a day on the lawn. The birds love them. Ros bought a bag of meal worms yesterday, which are in the feeder. The tits are all over them. Hope the Starlings don't find them or they will be gone in a flash.
Mel, you have just reminddr me, I must get all the chicken pellets, corn, grit etc packed up and send round to the girls new owners.
