Afternoon All,

What lovely sunshine we've had around here today, but deceptive. The car showed 6 degrees but there were frozen puddles at the roadside in places when we went out earlier.

How dreadful Jane, the cheek people have these days beggars belief. I often think it is just a matter of time before it happens to any of us.

I'm just the same lately Fiona/ Liz. I went to bed quite early last night as I was really tired, then couldn't get to sleep for ages. I woke up about 4.00am and didn't really get off again till about 7.00am!!!

Glad you are at least feeling a bit better today Mandy. The kitchen smelled a lot better this morning thanks to your vinegar tip!

Mandy ,it's looking good. The Chicken is cooked ,but the veg need a bit longer.Do I just leave the chicken in there or will it toughen up?
I have just sent you all a photo of a disaster I had earlier !!!!!

We had a nice ride to the coast , lovely sun shine but a cold wind, we walked down to the front and had a look at the sea which was on its way out and splashing up on the rocks, then went and had a hot chocolate to warm ourselves up.
Crab shop was closed Frank, opens again in March !!

Goodness Jane, there's some crooks about , i sometimes think these cards are more trouble than there worth ,we didn't have these problems years ago .
Hows the Casserole coming on ?

We went up to the cemetery this afternoon to put dad's flowers on mums grave the sun was out and the cemetery was bathed in sunshine , will go up on Friday morning with the minister to intern dad's ashes in to the grave and then it's really all over and I can relax and start looking forward to the rest of 2011.

Gosh Jane , you were lucky that the fraud was spotted! It's just awful the wicked things people do these days, you certainly have to be 'up in the morning'!! OH had the same with his Barclay Card about two years ago, that was with Carphone Warehouse (or whatever it's called!), luckily it was spotted and, like you we were rung up, and had to have new cards!! It's nice to hear news of where you used to live, but you know what they say 'never go back'! probably best not to. We've chicken for supper tonight, OH is making bread rolls, and I've made Flapjack; try to do baking when the Rayburn is turned up, economy rearing its head!!!

Jane

Jane Report 9 Jan 2011 13:47

It appears that someone tried to spend 2 lots of £700 at Currys and 2 lots of £200 at Best buys on our card.Luckily it was blocked, but it now means both our cards have been cancelled and we will get new ones.It was done on the internet this morning !!!.

The casserole is smelling good, and I have a large joint of beef in the oven which will be cooking for 2 hours. That is for tomorrow night when James is back .I will slice it today and reheat tomorrow in gravy.I asked him what he would like for his Birthday meal and it was roast beef.He only gets that when he is home and we haven't had it at all since he came back from Uni.

I have been dreaming about my parents a lot just lately.I think it is because of everyones recent bereavements. It must stir up memories sub conciously .
They have been pleasant dreams which is nice.

I had a long chat last night with an old family friend from Wembury(where I grew up) and it was nice hearing all the gossip from the village.Made me want to go back. But he said it is not the same anymore. On New Years day ,he said a hundred people went for a swim down at the beach. It started a few years ago with just half a dozen people !!
The sun is shining brightly ,and showing up my mucky windows lol

Afternoon folks,

Was a very lazy boy this morning. Ros was up and about at 7.30 unusual for her. She bought me in my Asprin and a cup of tea about 8.15 I then got my E book out and read for half hour. Put my head down and went back to sleep till 10.15.

Ros left some bits at Conrad's on Friday. He rang this morning to say they would bring them over this afternoon, and perhaps stay for dinner. I've done loads of pots, parsnips, brussels, beans, cauli and carrot. The joint might not be big enough, so Ros has gone to get a larger one. KIDS.!!!!
All it wants now is Harvey to ring and say they are coming !!!!

Tele, was a load of rubbish last night. apart from piers Morgan. But tonight will be different. BBC has one of my favourites LARKRISE. so will record that, and watch dancing on ice and the African drama series. Then watch Larkrise before bed. Football at 1.30pm Man United v Liverpool. that won't go down well, I bet I end up in the conservatory !!!!

Going to lay table, while Ros is out. Then I can settle down to thew football.

Fiona, I quite often go to bed really tired and the moment I put the light out I'm wide awake and heading for a bad night!!! After my parents died, I found I sometimes had minor panic attacks which would jerk me awake, that and VERY vivid jumbly dreams made for a difficult period, with time it all subsided and now I hardly dream about them at all. I do sincerely sympathise with anyone who is bereaved, it is very stressful to put it mildly!!! Lovely sunny day here, but cold, bird bath frozen up again, and the birds looking reproachful, they clearly think I have nothing else to do with my life except wait on them!!!! Millies walk overdue am getting 'LOOKS' from her as well!!!!

Morning on a bright and sunny but very frosty day.
Chris is out with the dog and I have just put the Slow Cooker on!!!!I know I will be peeking in it all day just to make sure it looks ok lol

Just had a call from Barclay Card Fraud. They will only speak to Chris, but it looks like it has been used fraudulently (again). That will put him in a bad mood.
I must go and have a shower and hairwash so BBL

Good morning from a cold and very frosty Devon.

Icy patterns all over the cars this morning but the sun is out. I left a fitted sheet on the line last night, it was stiff as a board this morning.

Slept well last night and it must have been the port we had after dinner.

Trust everyone is ok today health wise or as well as can be expected in their circumstances.

9.57am.

just came on to say goodnight , I have been watching the news, nothing but sad news again. a shooting in America it took up most of the news time

I use my slow cooker quite a lot great for making beef or chicken stew, slow cooking for 6 hours and then just add some gravy mix and its ready. great for when I go out and come back to the dinner ready.

I hope I get a good night sleep tonight been going to bed early these nights as I can't keep my eyes open then when I put my head on the pillow, I'm wide a wake
Keeping fingers crossed we have no more snow, don't want all the hasell we had before Christmas. daughter no 2 got another exam at Gala on Monday, hope she makes it.

8.39pm

Dressing gown an hour ago. I'm so hot, have turned the heating down but still feels like a sauna.

How I remember coming home from school, mincing the meat and bread, Onions with it for rissoles. Our weekly menu was "H" bone of beef Sunday, cold meat and chips, monday, cottage pie tuesday Rissoles Wednesday, Liver and onions Thursday, Fish and chips Friday, Souced herrings in the winter on Saturday, or Dads Egg, cheese and milk cooked in the oven on Toast done in front of the fire.

We have a slow cooker, but more often forget to put it on first thing in the morning. to give it all day to cook. Tend to use the oven for cooking cassoroles.

We have a display cabinet full of "CHIPPENDALE GLASS" that Ros's M & D collected for years. When my neighbour broke a piece in the porch a couple of years ago it cost me £45.00 to replace. and it's not very big. But as you say. The kids will only throw it away or take it to a charity shop.

Ann, I watched that train journey, and thought of Mandy with the crab. I use to use that line to Kings Lynn when I was stationed at West Raynham. in 1959.

Going to sit in the conservatory for a while to cool down (HOT FLUSHES) and I am so young !!!!!

Thank's for that Mandy, I've just put some in a bowl and put it in there. I have some mustard to wipe it with as well.

Sounds like you are a bit feverish, although it has gone very cold here. Hope you can get a good night's sleep.

I'm off to watch tv now.......so night, night everyone.
