Night Night All.
No chance of me going in the spare bed until James goes back to Uni.That spare bed is his lol.I must admit I have missed the odd night on my own .The other spare is the bed settee in the study .But I don't call that a proper bed ,plus no TV and then Chris would be coming in there early in the mornings. That is just for visitors lol
I feel a bit sick .have just had a Walnut Whip .It always reminds me of my Mum.They were her favourite.I said to James who does Walnut Whips remind you of.......answer Grandma lol.She could get through several of them when she had dementia ,because she couldn't remember that she had just had one !!!!
See you all again in the morning xx

Yes it is Jane. lol The other film you mention about the man who cut his arm off was a contender, but I didn't fancy it for tomorrow.....probably see that next week. OH also has 'The Next 3 Days' film on his list to see with Russell Crowe in as well!! I'll be going in my fleece......the cinema here can be very cold.....still, hopefully it should be quiet.......children round here are back to school tomorrow. It is awful when you have a cough at the cinema or theatre, somehow it seems worse when you really try not to cough......hope yours soon goes.

Oh no Mandy.......toss up between OH and Toby then!!! lol Do they both snore?? lol Hope you don't get it too.

I'm off to bed too now.........night, night everyone xx

So glad to see you back on the thread Shirl, the past two weeks must have been really difficult for you, always ready for a chat if you ever feel the need. Have turned off the telly for 1/2 hour to wash up and generally clear away, nice to have a bit of peace before 'Above Suspicion', it's not as good as Silent Witness, well, I don't think so, but has some spooky moments!! I haven't been to the Cinema in ages, literally years, I should think it's quite expensive these days?! (trust me to say that!)

Ann is that the film with Catherine Tate?I hate those bl***y glasses, you feel so daft ...but then everyone else looks daft as well lol
I was going to go to the pictures today with Fitz to see the film about the chap who cut his own arm off when he got trapped by a boulder in a canyon somewhere. But I thought my cough would annoy people so decided not to go.
I still have lots of dust lol.I decided to get rid of all the ironing today.Dusting tomorrow I think.

It looks as though we may have some snow on Friday.Watch out Sheila I think you will get some.

Frank ,please give Ros my best wishes for her injections.I hope it works .
Now are you going to be safe on your own??????.I'm not too far away to rescue you if you get into trouble lolol

Hope the plumber gets your heating sorted Frank........can't have you freezing one minute and bare chested the next!! Now you know how us ladies feel with our 'flushes'!! lol Trouble is it is not as easy for us to do 'bare chested'. lol Good luck to Ros with the injection tomorrow and fingers crossed it helps her with that back pain.

We've had a busy day today. Between us we cleaned the oven, dusted and hoovered everywhere including the lampshades and settees and cleaned the bathroom. We used another BOGOF meal coupon at B*S so no cooking today. Then we flopped and watched one of the Michael Portillo Rail Journeys and a Marple.

I phoned the hospital today as I didn't think one of the results for the Diabetes study could be right...the after 2 hour fasting figure was lower than the overnight figure. They told me this can happen and that both figures of just over 5 were very good. There was me convinced there was a typing error!!

Tomorrow we are off to see Gulliver's Travels at the cinema......wearing the funny glasses. lol

1944 was during WW so there was no census (I think)
1948 was not a census year. But thanks for the lead.

My uncle Ralph was a stoker firt class in the the Royal Navy during WW11
His vessel HMS corvette Bluebell was torpedoed while escorting Russian convoys.
My uncle georg was also in the RN but survived the war.He went on to become a brick layer.

Evening All,

Lovely to hear from you Shirl and glad you are ok. You must be in a right muddle at the moment, I wouldn't know if I was coming or going if it had happened to me. Do take care and not expect too much of yourself, won't you. We have all been thinking of you and look forward to when you feel like coming back on the thread. XXXXX

David, as the dates you mention are after the available census dates, the only way I know to find that out is to look at the electoral roll for those years if they are available. You can then find the road and who was living at all the addresses in the road. A phone call to the local records office will tell you where the electoral rolls are held and whether those years are available. If you didn't want to visit the records office, I think most will do the search for you......but obviously will charge for it.

Amanda,I meant 1944 and 1948

The address is 200 Portland Road. Newcastle upon Tyne.
I was born in that house 1945 as were my brothers.
Also living in that house were my grand parents and my aunt May uncle John and their family.
My grand mother died in that house in 1944.

Sheila ,what a good job your OH was there to rescue you from the bath!!.
Maybe it is safer to have a strip wash for a few days or shower like Mandy says if you have one.

I had to laugh this morning.I looked out of my bedroom window to see a squirrel upside down eating that fat cake again, and then looked across next door to see another hanging upside down at the top of the pole eating the bird seed or nuts from the feeder.THEN the squirrel from our garden nipped across to next door took a leap at the pole. The squirrel on top went flying and the one that leapt up the pole slid all the way down ,just like it was using a Firemans pole lol.It was one of the metal poles with no grip.I was in stitches.

Hi Sheila, Merlin's Insurance is £187.05 per year this includes, Loss of Animal, Third Party Liability, Tack, and then, for us, there is the Trap, and Personal Liability for OH and Me, if we have an accident with the trap. I think it's wise to have Third Party Liability if nothing else, as if your horse should cause damage to property or to a person, compensation can be hidiously expensive . We haven't got Vet's fees, what we do is put aside money each year in case Merlin should get ill. as cover for this is very expensive, and so long as you keep up with the Farrier, and are careful on the food front bearing in mind colic, it's often cheaper to pay the vet for what can be fairly minor problems. I hope this has been helpful. I think these evenings are beginning to draw out!! Have taken on board ALL ideas for my neighbour!!!
