We got some Sherry in a couple of years ago and it brought OH out in a rash. Apparently his mum is the same. I remember having Schooners of Sherry when I went out with 1st OH before we were married.......Tia Maria was another favourite in the winter. I have just 1 cut glass sherry glass left from a set of 6 I had 40 years ago. What strikes me now is how much smaller glasses used to be. lol

Good idea to fix your son's car for his birthday Jane......it will make sure it get's done quickly too. How are you all today?? Coughs any better?

Weighed me this morning.......put 4 pounds on in the last 9 days. Good job we'll be polishing off the last few 'goodies' tonight.

Afternoon All on 1/1/11

What a nice date of birth to write for those born today! Speaking of dates, after doing a bit of my tree yesterday I found a rellie who was born 14th February (so middle name was Valentine) and who died on 5th November, bonfire night!! lol

Liz, you gave the Dyson a good testing then! Had to laugh about your OH switching it off!! I have had my tiny one a couple of months now, managed to 'mislay' those instructions too, so don't know how to empty it.......looked online to do it last time, but have forgotten again! I got it mainly for the hard floors and car.....big hoover has a furiously rotating brush that seems a bit vicious. Suction is fantastic on it.

Frank how annoying the boiler has packed up.......hope your neighbour didn't cause it. If it needs repair check whether you have any Warm Front allowance left to pay it. I see they are changing the scheme soon and it won't be as good.

OH managed to step and swing backwards and knock a yoghurt drink out of my hand and all over my top this morning. Apparently it was my fault for 'being there' so I told him he needs parking sensors put on his 'rear' to warn him! lol Didn't know what to say to that! He is at a footie match now, so Im home alone as usual on NYD. Quite nice to have a bit of peace actually.

I have recorded a lot of my favourite Andre Rieu today........seems to be a lot on him on S*Y Arts.

Lets hope it's something that's easy to fix and not to costly with your boiler Frank ,thats all you need just after Christmas, have a extra hot Indian tonight that'll warm you !!!

You did turn your Stat up again didn't you ...as the boiler wouldn't keep running would it ,if it was set down low !!!

Jane , good idea to pay for the windscreen and tyres, we use to buy things like that for son when he first had his car ,well it saved his money .

Cor i haven't had Sherry for a long time , i remember mum use to take a bottle to the shop and you could have it filled up with sherry , sweet or dry .

I was only saying to hubby the other day we've got all those sherry glasses and we never use them ,i was thinking about taking them to the charity shop.

Cuppa tea time i think , wonder if hubby will make it lol don't hold your breath lol

Liz ,feel free to come and hoover round here with your new Dyson. You are most welcome lol
My sister was hoovering this morning and sucked a sock up the nozzle. The noise it made scared one of her dogs so badly it wee'd all over the bed and she has sent her OH to Arg** to get a new Duvet !!

Frank I hope you get that heating sorted soon.Is it the theromstat that has gone on the boiler?.I have a couple of heaters you are welcome to use if you need.

Well did I say it was a bright morning???? It didn't last long. Now it is grey and drizzly and quite dark.

It is James Birthday on the 9th and we weren't sure what to get him.It is all decided now .................A new windscreen for his car as the little chip he had is now a massive crack all the way along the bottom. It is being done on Tuesday. And 2 New Tyres. He bust one last week when his car slid on ice and he hit a kerb.So used his spare one .At least he will still have his car on the road.
I am just having a glass of sherry now.Haven;t had one of those for a while.
I have hardly had any drinky poos over Christmas or last night.Maybe I will make up today lol

12.10am
Afternoon one and all, and again HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Mines started with a bang. NO HEATING. I managed to climb into the loft and across to the boiler, turned everything off, and started again. Set reset button, and boiler came on for 5 seconds, then off again. After 45 minutes I gave it up as a bad job Got the gas fire in the lounge and two fan heaters if needed. Will call my plumber on Monday. to book him ASAP. Must be a fault somewhere. When we got home yesterday. The house was like a furnance, turned the stat down to zero, took hours to cool down. The thermostate was showing 26 degrees. Now we have nothing.

Liz, I think if Ros did that to me, she would have got a thick ear.

We have just cleared up after a full ENGLISH BRUNCH. Sausages, bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes, two fresh eggs, fried slice, coffee. feel piged out now. No more to eat till Indian tonight.

Trust you all have a nice lazy day.

Feel quite chipper this am!!!! Yes Jane I have cleaned from top to toe, while the enthusiasm lasts!!! I was 'doing' the kitchen when the hoover just stopped!! I shouted 'Oh no!' and at that moment heard a supressed, childish 'giggle' and OH had unplugged it at the mains!! VERY funny, I don't think! he thought it was hillarious! little thing etc etc! still at least he's cheerful!!! Grey old day here, but not too cold. OH going to get a ticket, well! you never know! actually I DO, but there you go! took down cards, must make a list for next year!

It is a fairly bright morning ,but there seems to be a funny misty drizzle on and off.
What is everyone up to today? Just a quiet one?I would love take the tree down ,but think I will leave it another day. It's looking a bit droopy lol
Chris is just putting his coat on and Chester is quivering in anticipation.
I think it must be cup of tea time again and some toast so BBL

Glad you are back Frank and all snug now in your dressing gown.I hope your Brothers infection will now soon clear up.I did think it might have been a clot.Is he still in hospital?
I feel that I can't stay awake a minute longer.I have been nodding off for the last half hour.So I am going to have to give in and go to bed. This is unheard of for me on New Years Eve.

Phew....they extended the time till 9.00pm so I traced a few 1911 ones......problems printing the images so I ended up making notes and copying the typed versions. lol Not as good as Ancestry when they did this.

Glad things look a bit better for your brother Frank now they know its an infection and have started treating it. Nice getting your dressing gown on isn't it!! It seems to have been a very long week.

Off to watch telly now, so in case I'm not back.....

HAPPY NEW YEAR

to you all.

20.51pm
Will just pop in to say we got home about 4.30pm. The time it took to unload the car, clear up the mess in the porch, kitchen, lounge. Hovered through. it was 5.30 plus. I did put the oven on when we came in. Roast Lamb. I did the veg. etc after we were cleaned up. Lewis's dad came for him about 6.30. We have had dinner and washed up. Now in dressing gowns and relaxing.

Heard about my brother. I'ts an infection not a blockage, which the doctors are pleased about. Now stuffing him with anti-biotics.

Will try to get back for BIG BEN. if not HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL>
