Mel Fairy Godmother Report 29 Dec 2010 17:28

Oh Frank sorry to hear about your poor brother now. As the others have said it is one thing after another at the moment for all of us!!

Do hope the ceremony went off ok with no hitches.

I like that Eileen Atkins who was Lady Maud in Upstairs Downstairs. She's a good actress too. But did'nt Jean Marsh look thin and old??

Just got back from shopping. Had to spend my £25 vouvher before the 1st Jan and got a £5 one for the new year too. I remembered to take back the light bulb I bought with the screw on the end instead of a baonet fitting and they also gave me a voucher for that for £4.99 so that was good.

Our kitchen light blew last night to Ann just as I was going to bed I turned it on to go into the hall and was left in complete blackness!!! Had to make my way to the micro where I keep a windup torch and was just hoping that one was there and there was.

Going to make a nice cuppa now.

17.27pm.

So sorry to hear about your brother Frank, just one thing after another, think it could be the time of year! I hope all went well for your sister and that it wasn't too stressful and cold. While I'm sure your neighbour is well meaning, I would have felt VERY fed up at coming home to the mess you described! I would have thought that he could have tidied up 'a bit'! VERY foggy here, OH taken 'the muck' up to the farm to dump it as the old trailor is full to bursting, hope he doesn't get ice problems! that's all I need!!!!

Oh dear Liz, there seems to be lots of the old flu about lets hope the doctor can give her something tomorow.

Frank you poor old thing , its just one thing after another, i hope they can find out whats wrong with your brother's leg , and i hope the ceremony for your sister went ok today too.

Well, i should think you'll have something to say to your neighbour ,fancy leaving your house in a mess like that !!!

The fog hasn't cleared all day here ,in fact i think its now getting thicker .

3.12pm.

What else can go wrong !!! Brother been rushed back into Hospital last night. His LEG has blown up like a balloon. Waiting for a scan. could be a blocked vein in his leg or the infection starting up again. Had the message on answer phone when I got home.

The house looks like a bomb has hit it. Dirty cats dishes over the kitchen floor, bark chippings from the plants all over the unit and floor in porch. The carpet in filthy from him walking in and out with drying his feet.
The boiler had shut down, when the water got into the electrics. Conrad found a reset button on the boiler in the loft. and the boiler started up. Thank goodness. He came in the house, and said "I don't know what happened" I thought it won't happen again.

Very misty drining over there, and plenty of snow round the village. but temp.is up to 6 degrees.

Bought back a load of Milk and Bacon, clean shirts, and bits for Ros. Will see us through till Friday.

Sorry everyone for my BIG BLOOMER yesterday.

Just talked to Laura, Polly still very poorly, high temperature 39.4!!! about 104 in old money! and has been like it all over Xmas, sounds like 'Flue' of some sort, the other two are OK! Laura rang NHS direct, had to leave a message, nad they took over 1 hour to get back to her!! Practise Nurse (?) was very nice, and said to 'take her' to the surgery if there was no improvement by Thursday (tomorrow)! I told her that if there was no improvement to take Polly to A & E and they would HAVE to look at her properly! I can see I'm needed on that home front!!! Heavens Frank, I hope your house in in one piece!!! How on earth can your neighbour be SO accident prone? whatever does his own home look like?!!! Poor Shirley, had her OH been ill or was it an accident or a complete out of the blue shock?I do feel for her.

Panic stations here ,washing machine has pumped water out all over my floor , good job hubby noticed it as he was going out the door ,we quickly turned it off and when hubby looked behind the machine the overflow pipe has come out of the pipe that goes through the wall, i mopped it up so no damage done , but if we had gone out !!!!
I had a big heavy bath mat in and i think it jiggled the machine and knocked the pipe out.

Morning all,
Foggy old morning here , been to Tesc*'s, all the food we have in the house and hubby wanted some Yogurts !!!

I think this series of Upstairs Downstairs was written by Jean Marsh and her friend Eileen Atkins ,who played the mother Lady Maud , not sure if there's to be any more, i thought the last one was the best of the three.

I hope Frank can sort out his heating when he goes back today , i should think the poor cat runs and hides when he see's the neighbour coming in , he does sound an accident waiting to happen , you'd think he would be more careful in someone else's house !!

I haven't seen Time to Time Mel, but anything with Maggie Smith in is usually good .

I carn't stop thinking about poor Shirley .

Morning All
Foggy here too Ann.I have just done the walk around Cranford and I think the whole village could hear me barking lol.I don't think the fog helped.

I am off into town to get a Xmas present for James girlfriend's Mum.She and her partner are bringing Jess up from Kent tomorrow.I know have to think of a meal as they will be here about 6pm.I have only met them once last Xmas and I must say I am not that struck .I don't like the way she always seems to put Jess down .No wonder the poor girl lacks confidence.

I expect we will hear from Shirl sometime.Maybe when she has arrangements etc sorted out for OG.

Must dash .Liz ,you will be hanging out the flags when those neighbours of yours go lol

Morning All,

Foggy and damp here but warmer. I think OH said the Upstairs Downstairs was a bit of a pilot and they are thinking of doing a series Mel. I can't remember Jean Marsh's connection with th old programme, but like you I seem to remember there was one.

Don't mention scales Liz, my waistband is telling me too much already!! lol

Lightbulb in the kitchen has gone and we have no spares so we are off to Sains'urys now and then B*Q. I want a new birdfeeder station and we got some vouchers for there for xmas.

No more news from Shirl.......I still can hardly believe it. BBL

My cleaner rang yesterday to tell me she would'nt be coming on Wednesday as she slipped over just outside her gate on Christmas day and fell and broke her left wrist. Spent the rest of the day and night in hosp. She has been walking to the old peoples home each day as she looked after a lady called Joan there who had one of the apartments. She had'nt been at all well so they moved her into the big house. She died at Christmas.

I watched Time to Time last night on Replay. It was a ghost story and I quite enjoyed it. Did any of you see it?? It had Maggie Smith in it and I love her. She is such a good actress in any part she takes. So believable and of course she is in Downton Abbey too.

Morning All,

Dull and dingy here this morning and it's been raining.

As to Upstairs Downstairs I thought the last one was the best but as you all say not a patch on Downton. Do you think it was just the one off for Christmas as it was on three nights running or are they doing a new series.
Did'nt Jean Marsh, who plays rose write it last time or have something to do with it?

My love and wishes to Shirl this morning. Thinking of you all the time.

Glad to have sorted out your 'Sheep Shit Pie' Mel, for one awful moment I thought your meant?!!!!! No! I didn't!!! VERY gloomy here today , neighbours go off on their Cruise next Tuesday for 2 1/2 months, hooray!!!! Starlings very busy with my home made fat ball, birdbath full of water and not ice! Think of living in Northern Ireland, that could be a serious, SERIOUS problem!!. Upstairs Downstairs? OKish not as good as Downton, but improving!!! MUST go on a diet, got on the scales this am!!! say no more!!! Oh poor Shirley, I do feel for her.

Just watched Upstairs Downstairs too and agree with you Mandy. I think it got better with each episode but not as good as Downton.

What a bind having to go back Frank! Let's hope your neighbour overlooked something basic and has just switched the heating off!!

Keep thinking about Shirl, hope she's ok.

Off to bed now, Night, night All. xx

My sympathy goes out to you Shirl, not a good year for you.

Rang my neighbour this evening, didn't seem at all concerned that the heating is still not working.Conrad and I are going over in the morning to see what we can do. If any problem, I will have to get out a plumber. What cost will that be in the holidays, dosen't bear thinking about.

Lewis is now with us again till Friday, He's playing on his X box with Conrad, while i'm on my computer. The girls are watching TV.in the lounge.

We had a Roast Pork dinner tonight, I only had a small portion, not very hungry, sitting around all day. Turkey curry tomorrow. lunchtime will be ham and salad, or in my case HAM SARNIE. I don't eat much salad.Still got a load of Brixworth Pate to eat. Nice but so much GARLIC.

Poor old snowman sitting in the muddle of the lawn all alone, no snow to be seen anywhere.

Trust you are all getting plenty of liquids down you with these colds. You know the old saying "FEED A COLD etc" Mine didn't turn into anything, thank goodness.

Will report back tomorrow, if I get back up here,

Goodnight God bless
