Oh David you must have something have'nt you???? What about Ellen's hairdrier?? That should heat up one room.

We have only a mobile gas fire if our leccy goes out!! Or we could move up the caravan where there is a gas fire.

Have spoken to both my brothers.
Dennis and his wife are visiting their son and grand son at Crawley this afternoon.
Roads are dreadful on the way there.

Ive a service contract with the Gas Board.
Phoned them this mornining. They said engineer will call and fix the boiler on Monday.

Until then we are sitting in our warmest coats as there is no alternative heating.

Another Fairy eh Mel! you lucky gal.
My turkey is cooked and resting.stuffing balls ,bacon rolls and sausages in now. Then the roast pots and roast parsnips and carrots with winter herbs. Then the sprouts and other veg last.I doubt we will eat for another couple of hours.Hannah and Sarah have gone for a walk over the snowy fields.I doubt Sarah has ever been able to do that in Oz.She seems a lovely girl.

Liz,I'm afraid I can't be doing with those kind of people ,vicar or no vicar. How rude not to ask how you all are. What's the bet that the chap from dyson doesn't turn up New years eve???

I am so hot here my specs have steamed up lol.I think I shall to go and stand on the snow for a few minutes lol

Morning All,

Sorry to hear you sad news Fiona, but good your dad went peacefully in his sleep. As Jane put it so well, he was in a right old state and it is good that that has ended for him.

Liz, some folk are just like that aren't they, wrapped up in themselves and their own importance! I think we all know some, but it is galling that they show no interest in others.

Our dinner will be later on too I think. The Turkey seems slow to cook this year. I think it might be because it was colder when it went in the oven.

Things to do.......nice to hear from you Tony.....38 degrees...phew!!

I didn't even get a card from my sister this year.........but then she was on holiday when she forgot my birthday and her own son's birthday earlier in the year!! She would be put out if I forgot hers!! lol

Mel, what a nice surprise from Mr Mel!! He knows what you like!!

A fairy of the west wind like the one that broke in the summer. He said she was so pretty that he thought another one would'nt go amiss and she will help me to stick the other one back together.

Also there is another one on the way but it is not available until Feb and it's one I have'nt got!!!

I am very pleased as I did'nt think I was due for anything as we had the bedroom suit.

I have just cooked my Christmas cake!!!! Can't be without that ...............

WE shan't have dinner till later on.

Oh Fiona, how very sorry I was to read the news about your Dad, my heart goes out to you at this very upsetting time particularly as it's Christmas, as you say at least he is free from all the pain and stress he has been suffering, but even so it is very sad. Yesterday wasn't a very good day here! Dysonman still didn't arrive as he is still off sick!! we are now booked for next Friday!!! OH got pretty shirty with the 'voice on the phone', however, it's not her fault when all said and done! Also had an Xmas 'Round Robin' plus photos! from my cousin (a clergyman) and his wife, plus two teenagers, who really annoyed me to the point of upset by letting us know how clever and wonderful they ALL are, both scholastically, musically, talented in every possible way! how God does nothing but shower blessings on them, and shows signs of these blessings ALL the time throughout the year!! I think they are religious fanatics!!! why do I let it upset me? I hear you say! I think, because there are a lot of people in this world who God doesn't seem top be quite so free on the blesing front, who Cousin and wife seem quite oblivious of!!!! I suspect that God spends SO much time in that household, he doesn't have too much time for the rest of us!!! As Laura said, instead of just hearing how wonderful THEY are, an inquiry as to how WE are would have been nice!!! but there you go, it's only once a year!! VERY cold here today! have already de-frosted thebirdbath but needs doing again! must take Millie! HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL.

Fiona, thankyou for taking the time to let us know about your Dad.I'm so sorry ,but I think it must be a relief for you.He was in a right old turmoil wasn't he.
I hope that you all manage to get through today.I think Sofia will help you do that.
May 2011 be a happier year for you all.xxx

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 25 Dec 2010 09:33

Fiona my thoughts are with you. I have only just caught up with the post of yesterday and today. I know just what you are going through at the moment. It was good that dad went peacefully in his sleep. I do hope you can still enjoy your Christmas though but know you will feel flat too. I am.

David our oven went one Christmas and the turkey had only been in for half an hour. I ended up cooking it in the micro and had never cooked anything in one before! But I managed it although dinner was a bit late that year. Hope you have some kind of heating to get you through.

TONY good to hear from you at this time of year and what a good boy to give up smoking!!!! Don't be like me and start again after a year. I even started again after 10 years!!!!!!!!!!
