Just had a clematine and was very disappointed!!!! There was more pips than flesh. It had 26 pips in it!!!!!!!
Hope the ones I bought in Wai*rose are better than that as I bought two bags.
Feeling a bit more Christmassy now I have decorated the tree and I can see it as I sit at my desk. Went to take a pic of it to see if the lights were ok and the bloomin camera's battery has run out so had to put it on charge.
Thawed the turkey joint today, thank goodness I remembered to get it out this morning!! Bought another jar of mincemeat at the garden center and so OH has polished off the rest of the mince pies I made the other day. There is one lone one under the glass dome.......................................................but he dos'nt know I put 7 in the freezer.. He he he.....................................

Just cooked the starters, and I am pleased with how they look.Just call me Delia lol The Gammon is cooling off and looks and smells yummy.Poor Chester has his eyes on stalks and dribbling. Now I have to think about dinner!!!.I think it is sausages ,eggs and potato waffles. I feel exhausted now .So I think it just about time for a glass of wine.Might pep me up..No egg nog for me .I don't like the sound of that.
16.51 Just realised I havent done the potatoes and veg yet.I think I may leave that until the morning now.But will set the table tonight.

Carrots, lol yes me too Shirl.....that's what I'd get!!
Jane I don't usually bother with bread sauce, but had time to do some this year and OH likes it. Mine is really a cross between bread sauce and onion sauce as I love onions. We haven't bothered with Cranberry sauce this time. lol
Hannah will feel she is at least helping them out Jane. I suppose for some the craving for drugs will overide any thought of Christmas. My old boss in the 70s used to help in soup kitchens every Saturday morning and over Christmas too. In those times you saw more tramps in the city than you do now and he knew them all and they all spoke to him if they passed him in town. It always seems awful to me that there are buildings that are empty but heated over Christmas, yet some poor souls are sleeping on the streets in this awful cold.
Mel, you got a tree after all!! Well done! It must be strange for you this Christmas not buying things for your mum. I bet you enjoyed your lunch at the garden centre.......it is nice not having to cook later.......I know,I do it too often. lol
I can't understand it, I don't feel at all christmassy either, yet we have pretty snow outside.........I think OH is in the swing, quite excited .......he's made a hole in the sausage rolls already and is in the bath now listening to Christmas carols!! lol

Fiona sorry to hear about dad being poorly again. I hope they can do something for him and he will improve. I know how you feel and still feel very flat at the moment too. Keep seeing things I would have bought for mum for Christmas. In the garden center they had a lovely light up row of cottages like I bought her a few years ago, that would have been the one thing I would have bought her for her big pressy. I have her other one on the chest in the hall. She would ever put it away and often have it on during the year.

Been out since quite early and we now have a new TREE. Hooray!!!!
It is only small but very fat. Should last a few years now and I must remember to repot it in the summer.
Shall be busy now decorating it and seeing if I have a small enough string of lights for it.
Will now catch up with your posts.
We had lunch at the garden center too so I don't have to do dinner tonight.

Ann, I don't have any bread sauce !!.I think if I don't mention it no-one will notice.I don't like it .My Pork is cooked and the Gammon is in.I have hoovered everything that needs doing, and James is upstairs cleaning the bathroom.I did remind him to do the loo properly lol. I feel a bit Cream Crackered now,so will have a bit of a break.(any excuse ) lol I hope everyone going away has got away .Maureen to Bedford and Frank to Rutland. Chris will be finished early today at 3pm,and Hannah and friend will be here just after 8.I think where Hannah works they will be feeding the homeless addicts today. That must be a bit difficult knowing some of them will have nowhere to go over Christmas.
It still doesn't feel very Christmasy to me.But tomorrow will .Chester will be helping everyone unwrap their presents and getting all hot and bothered lol
Mel your little tree will be beautiful, with it's baubles and beads.
I bet April is getting excited now.It will be difficult this year without her Daddy but I'm sure she will have a great time. I must go and baste the gammon with the honey and mustard now so BBL

Oh Fiona, your poor dad. Like you say, you must dread the phone ringing at the moment. Maybe he has picked up a bug and will soon be better. I hope so. It is bitterly cold where you are!!!! Brrrrrr.
I've already had my big pressie Mandy, a camera!! lol Something in a small box with a big number carats would do nicely though!!!

Afternoon All,
It seems a bit warmer here too.....still cold though. We went to the retail park down the road earlier and hardly anyone was there!! Quieter than an ordinary week day. We nipped into Druc*ers and had hot bacon and egg filled cheese rolls.....yummie. Sausage rolls and gammon are cooking and the Turkey is in it's tin wearing it's bacon waiscoat and foil wrapper. lol Veg all done and bread sauce defrosting........having a break and a cuppa now.
That's the idea Mel, plenty of tinsel and baubles, fir cones and sprigs of holly and it may end up looking better than before!
Poor you Jane not being able to taste things at xmas!! You must be fed up with it now......bet everyone is having to turn the telly up with all that coughing going on. I hope it improves for tomorrow.
I am wondering if all that frost has killed some of the little birds, haven't seen any for a few days, not even on the fat balls.......most odd.
I think Frank must have gone to Rutland now........it will be a picturesque journey through the villages with all the snow.

Cooked my Beef and all my veg is peeled and in the fridge ,stuffing is done too. Just got to cook a few more bits , lay the table and wash my floors and then that's me done. Frank, if you haven't already gone ,all the best to you and Ros ,hope you have a lovely Christmas day ,and safe a journey too.
Glad you feel a bit better Jane , its funny you should say about the Pigeons ,hubby and i sat out in the conservatory this morning having our coffee, and there was a huge Pigeon sat on the fence ,i said to hubby there you go ,get that Pigeon and that's Tuesdays meal sorted lol
He said years ago some one who he worked with had eleven children and he told hubby that they all had a meal from one Pigeon !!!! that must have been a fat old bird !!!lol

Morning Mel and Everyone. I do feel a lot better thanks Mel ,but this chesty cough is driving me and everyone mad !.I can't smell or taste anything. Just nipped to Tes** and is was fairly quiet except for the Salvation Army, playing Carols in the doorway. It was SO loud, but lovely I have a pork loin in the oven at the moment ,and then the ham will go in about lunch time when Fitz brings me the cloves. Then I will make that starter for tomorrow. That will just need warming through.
It doesn't feel so cold today ,it is cloudy but the snow hasn't thawed. There are hundreds and hundred of pidgeons in the trees, and they suddenly all take off together. It is quite a sight.
Has Frank gone yet?I can't remember if he said what time they were going to Rutland. Off for a coffee now.BBL 11.02

Been out nearly all day.
Got shopping that I forgot the other day and some more chickens food. Now set for the week ahead.
Still did'nt get a tree as there was'nt any about in Holsworthy.
Will have to use the old one as I am not going without a tree. Shall just have to cover it in lots and lots of baubles and lights and strings of red and gold beads to fill in the holes.
Thanks for the emails Frank and Mandy and Liz.

Jane, they used to say that a lot of the homes in and around Holt were second homes ,owned by people from London, there are some nice shops in Holt , Prince Charles wife Camilla shops there , i know there was a lot of huha because her car pulled up on double yellow lines and blocked the whole road while she shopped !!!
Your doing well with the knitting Ann, is OH looking at the sock to see if its going to be big enough to put your pressie in lol Yes Katie's sweet, she now waves bye bye , she's also standing on her own and has taken two steps before she drops down and crawls to you.
Will say night night now xx
