Sheila , The Bare Foot Contessa is a cookery programme ,she makes some nice things .

Poor Chester ,perhaps he has an inkling that your going out and that he's off to the sitters tomorrow Jane, although as Mel said, it could be the cold playing him up !!

18.34pm.

Poor old Chester....... I do feel for him but I bet it's the cold weather thats making him limp. It gets into your bones!!

Sheila Report 27 Nov 2010 18:34

Murrey lost by one point to Nadel .I hope everyone is safe if out it is freezing here please take care.

My boots were not bad for the price Jane but I have just ordered some winter boots if the snow got really deep I doubt wether my short ones would be much good.
The Barefoot Countessa Mandy thats an old film .I love the old movies.
was it Ava Gardner.
Christmas memories for me my dad smoking a cigar and just being with him for a while over Christmas .Also my mum managing to give us a lovely lot of food over christmas when food was so difficult to get.

I remember my mum after we had a turkey dinner she would hide the turkey and it would not appear until Boxing Day tea cold or sandwiches and my brother and I would fight over the parsons nose .
Crackers were awful you would search for the inner to pull it and it used to come straight out. Have a nice evening going to watch strictly and laugh at Ann will she go out this time I doubt it. nite everyone.

Finished the advent ring and been off the net for a while because of what OH was doing.

Thanks for the pics Ann and Liz. We have'nt had any more snow just a sprinkling of very tiny wee balls that soon melted. Other snow still about and I can't walk past the study quietly as OH can hear me crunching on the frozen snow.

All chickies tucked up for the night and the little banties have'nt been out all day.

LOL Frank. He might think he is in for a treat.......but he can keep thinking lol.I need a good nights sleep.I have been waking up nearly every hour for the last few nights. It's driving me mad.
What a lovely name Lillies Leaf.I have cousins in Edinburgh.A lovely city.I think I would be quite happy living there.

Tomorrow we will have a shovel in the car as well as blankets/duvet.Some sensible shoes too.Just in case the weather turns nasty on the way home from the wedding. The thought of getting stuck on the M1 gives me the willies.I think we will probably leave the wedding about 9pm rather than stay until the end at 11.Just to be on the safe side.We are the only people who will have to travel any distance.
Chester is being collected at 10am to stay overnight with the lady who had him for the week when we went to Suffolk.I will be sending him with his bed ,toys and plenty of food in case he gets snowed in on Monday.Plus his tablets. He is not a happy bunny tonight.I'm not sure these painkillers are doing much good.

Fiona, Thanks for the photo's ,your poor little Wishing Well out in the cold !!
Bet your OH was cold cleaning those windows in the snow.

What a price for a train ticket ,what ever would first Class cost then ? and not even guaranteed a seat !! i think you should get it cheaper if you have to stand all the way .

Jacket potatoes for us tonight with Chicken and Bacon Pie .

Frank

Frank Report 27 Nov 2010 17:07

Jane, my niece lives in Lillies Leaf, a small village. about 20 odd miles from Edinburgh.

Smell all nice now. Is Chris in for a treat or what !!!
What a price to have to stand back and forth to St Pancras. Might be lucky to get a seat home, but not going. I know back in the early 60s our monthly season ticket seemed expensive but £120.00 a week is outrageous. Don't know how they afford it these days. Thats before you pay tax etc. No wonder London wages are better than any other towns.

We will be having our indian delivered. Would like a bit of F & C but too cold to go out and get it. !!!

Have a good day tomorrow Jane and wear some warm cloths.

Jane

Jane Report 27 Nov 2010 16:59

First Class My A**** Ann ,and the actual ticket is just a flimsy thing like an ordinary train ticket. She will have to stick that in those machines each day to use the tubes as well.I can't see it lasting 12 months!!.
I quite fancy fish and chips, but am doing a roast.I have to it is smelling good.

Poor Chester is limping very badly today.I think he needs a crutch lol

Annx

Annx Report 27 Nov 2010 16:30

Your eye massage sounds really relaxing Jane. Hmmmmh..... Hannah all kitted out now then......... as you say, stations are always the most draughty and freezing places in the winter. Think I would have 'fainted' at the cost of that season ticket though........is it FIRST CLASS!!! lol

I think OH said he would bring fish and chips home after the match, I just fancy them!!

Annx

Annx Report 27 Nov 2010 16:18

You'd think any home would be keen to investigate and make sure there weren't any 'light fingers' working for them wouldn't you Frank. Maybe they will take the matter seriously now.

Sounds a good idea having a desert you can whip out of the freezer Mandy. I never manage any christmas pud on the day either, too rich and heavy after the dinner.

We haven't had anymore snow today......see what tomorrow brings. I am supposed to be visiting my friend to see her new little foal later next week. She keeps her ponies on the outskirts of a village the other side of the city. It is a few miles down narrow lanes with a quite steep winding lane with hairpin bends to the field. I might need a shovel!!!

Jane

Jane Report 27 Nov 2010 16:12

Brrrrrr!.Just got back from the station with Hannah to hand over that cheque for nearly £6,000 for the season ticket !!!,then into town for her to get some warm gloves.furry head thing and a warm jumper to help keep the chill out from standing on the freezing station every morning. Then dropped her off at the gym.
My eye massage or whatever it is called was heaven. It was the face shoulders and across the top of the chest too.I smell wonderful with all the potions and lotions used.
It is the switch on tonight for the Lights in town. That awful David Van Day will be doing it I think.I wonder how many people will venture out in this cold.

Sheila your boots sound 'GROOVY'.There are some brilliant wellies about.
Ann your OH deserves a slap.Messing you around like that lol.All you plans up the swany (sp).
Did I say thanks for your pics? I can't think if I did or not.Anyway thanks lol
I like those glass birds.Very clever with the fish in the bill.

Annx

Annx Report 27 Nov 2010 15:56

Thanks for the pics Fiona. Your garden looks very pretty in the snow and with the sun on the trees.......now you can see it even better with cleaner windows! I don't think I could have got my OH to do them with snow on the ground.

Jane/Frank, the saga continued! OH hoofed me off the computer so he could see if any other matches were being played.......yes, one at Loughborough. so he decided to go to that. He got ready, next thing he had to take his big heavy treaded shoes off to go and get his ring, which he hates going out without. Then it was back again for his car keys! I thought he was safely on his way and had got changed into my old comfies, having decided to stay in.......phone rings, he's at the services on the MI can I bring his WALLET!!!!! lol, lol Otherwise he would have to drive to the next junction to get off and come all the way back. So, I had to get changed AGAIN, scrape all the ice off my car and drive up there. I told him he will need to write an ACTION PLAN for everything he does soon!! lol You have to laugh don't you!!!

Annx & Mandy
Have sent snow pics, sorry.
Sun gone in now and it's feeling colder.

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 27 Nov 2010 14:20

Thanks for the snowy photo's Mel and Ann , Fiona i haven't got yours .

Lets hope you can get to the bottom of the missing DVD's Frank ,was good of the sellers to offer some more though.

No more snow ,its been nice and sunny here so we have had a bit of a thaw ,the road out the front is all slushy which will be bad when it starts to freeze !!

Just watching The Bare Foot Contessa on the food network ,she does some nice recipes ,trying to get some ideas for a nice dessert for christmas day ,there will only be four of us ,me ,hubby, sister and BIL , the two men like their christmas pud ,but sister and i are not so keen ,i find it lays a bit to heavy for me ,so i want to make some thing else .
There was a nice dessert in the Morri*ons mag for a Triple Choc Torte , i might make that as it can be made ahead and frozen.

Sheila Report 27 Nov 2010 14:07

I was out at 8.30am moving the snow this morning then a 12.30 shop stint ,everyone very cheerful coming in and out .I had one small lad who chose 12 penny sweeties then would not open his mit to give me the money so he went out not paying the little perish\\\\er . tears and all. Just
let him try it again. It is the second time but next time I shall pounce on him before he gets to the sweet counter. The little lads got such a cute little face but a cheeky little monkey.I tried to open his hand but he said your hurting me .I was thinking just give me the chance. It took 15 minutes to get rid of him with free sweets.
.
My wellies are lovely bright blue with spots ankle length wide at the top and cost me £2 fron the charity shop I work for they came with a thermal linining but it was in the wash the day I got lost. 1 degrees that day and in the paper today mothers were complaining the council closed the road and sending them down the lane I went down and forgot to mention about an avenue or put a diversion notice up so all the poor mums collecting children from school ended up like me froze and fed up. I think most of them would have gone back had roadmen had not sent people down the lane and mentioned the avenue. I only found my way back because I saw a friend visiting someone and asked the way back. He offered me a lift but I had two muddy dogs so declined the offer.

Now going to watch Nadel and Murrey play tennis on the sports channel.

Just had two books delivered from Amazon never have a problem with them.
