Mel Have you used your air frier yet? If so what did you cook and was it ok> Last night I did pork belly slices (200 c 22 minutes) and crispy potato slices (from Tesco) and some frozen cauliflower cheese in a foil container. The pork was really nice. the other two were fine but timings need adjusting I had not realised that daughter's timings were for a larger amount than mine so mine were a bit overcooked although still ok.

7 degrees and partly sunny here Mel. I got rid of all our cobwebs the other day as the sun shone on them like yours and they stood out, you don't notice them when it's cloudy do you.

We're still waiting for the Sky engineer to turn up so have decided to watch a couple of programmes online that didn't record properly on the freeview box last night. What's the bet Sky will turn up just as we settle down to watch the programmes.

I've got to sort out and clear our bedroom but because we are having multi screen putting in here I thought it best to wait until the engineer has been and gone so I'm not in the way.

It does feel strange not having anything to do right now, but very relaxing and it's nice to spend some time with OH too.

I'm very relieved about the test results AnnG and feel more relaxed and less anxious now. All I'm waiting for now is Sandra to sort her council tax on Friday then the anxiety should go completely.

Going to grab a cuppa before watching our programmes.

Morning all,

I don't know where the time went this morning either I was up before 8am and made myself a coffee and took my pill, and amended the asda order, fiddled with the pc and now its 9.30am!!

Pc says 7 degrees and mostly sunny and the suns showing up all the cobwebs so you know what I shall be doing this morning.

Good morning all. Got up and put the bed linen in the washing machine thinking I was up early as the last time I looked at a clock it was just after 7. Looked at the clock in the kitchen and it was 0840. wonder where that hour went? Never mind not doing anything today.

Oh Gwyn that will be hard for you. As Vera said though the family will be pleased to see you there.

Gill, Good result for your test then Gill well done and you can stop worrying about it now. You are getting on well now, one last push and you will soon be finished with the floors. Soon be out doing the garden which I am sure will be better for your health than all that dust indoors.
Hope Skye person turns up and that can be sorted as well. Just need to work out what is the problem with your laptop now.

Mel, your BiL is good to you. although you feed him well I suspect!!!

Vera Hope you enjoy your coffee with your friends. do you always do the bed stripping and washing on Mondays (like Mum used to do!!), couldn't you have done it tomorrow instead of spoiling your Sunday? I am not rigid with my bed change, It is more or less weekly but can vary to before a week or a few days later.

Suppose I had better get dressed now. gone 9 o'clock!

Had BIL here all day again and I never get on well when he's here but its nice to have him and I would'nt want to be without him coming whenever he can.

Sounds like your getting there now Gill with only the kitchen to do. Lets hope we don't get the weather we had in 2018 again as that was a bad winter.

Don't know what to have for a snack tonight as thats all I shall have as we had a big breakfast today.

Its 7 degrees here now and there's frost out there already. I knew it was going to get cold again as my index finger split open yesterday at the side of the first joint under the nail. Also the knuckle on the little finger started to bleed. I shall have to do a vasaline job on them all. The one on my thumb has almost healed now so thats good but when it happens it is so very sore.

Anty joy phoned this afternoon just as I was going to shut the chickens in and it was on the landline so I could'nt go anywhere for 31 mins and it was dark by the time she hung up.

Hi all

Happy belated birthday Mandy, I'm so sorry I didn't send you a card, I got it stuck in my head that Mel had the first birthday of the year so I've only sent her one. I feel so bad now.

My mouse has been playing up on this laptop and I keep losing my post so it's a short post from me today.

Love the photo's Mel, you have so many they look beautiful.

I got the results for my Cancer test yesterday and it's all clear, I was shaking when I opened the letter, but so relieved when I read it.

I've been busy again, nothing new there I hear you all say :-D :-D We've got Sky coming here in the morning as our Sky box gave up the ghost three weeks ago. I can't wait as the freeview box is driving us mad switching itself off all the time, we think it's because we only have an internal aerial and it's not picking the signal up property. Anyway I've now finished cementing the hearth in the living room and cleaned that room so all we need to do now is put the TV back in there which we'll do later.

I'm almost finished with the filler in the kitchen, I had to stop doing that with all the cement dust everywhere. So at the moment there's not much left to do inside until we've emptied our bedroom then we'll do the flooring in there, then there's just the kitchen to do and all the floors will be finished just in time for the spring when we'll be back in the garden.

I've just noticed on the Internet we're in for another Beast from the East around the 25th February, through to the 11th March. I'm not looking forward to that. They said it's going to be the same as the one we had in 2018.

Well I'd better post this before it disappears again.

Oh, that is hard Gwyn but I am sure tha family of the lady who has died so young will appreciate you being there. Many years ago I had a similar thing. I had to go to the funeral of an aunt I was very close to on the anniversary of my mother’s death.

It’s another very grey day but 9 degrees at the moment and not much wind so it isn’t cold.

Friends who have to be in town tomorrow have asked us to meet them at the local hotel for coffee so I have been trying to get ahead. Beds have been changed and bedding washed and there are bath mats and some towels nearly finished. I’ve also made a chocolate mousse which will go in the freezer till I need it next Saturday.

I’ve managed to get on because OH has been at the optician’s and I get jobs done more quickly when he’s not around. The only trouble is today has seemed like any other day and, although I haven’t been a regular churchgoer for many years, I still like to keep Sunday as a more special day.

OH is back now with new glasses on order - MORE EXPENSE as our Frank used to say. We usually have our Sunday dinner around 2 pm so I’d better get yesterday’s stew on to reheat.

Thinking of you Ann <3

My OH's funeral anniversary is soon and sadly I am going to another funeral that day at the same place :-(
I want to go though to remember the lady, who was only in her 40s.

Morning Anng and all,

I too had funny dreams last night but for the life of me I can't remember what they were about or who. It could have been people I knew a long while ago after talking to Deirdre yesterday.

Its colder here at 4 degrees and pc says mostly cloudy but there is a little blue sky showing behind the white and grey cloud.

BIL is coming agian today so I better stir myself and get in the shower and have a hoover of all the bit the plumber brought in the dayu before going in and out of the front and back doors. I could'nt face it yesterday.

Anng as to your question about the snowdrops. They were here when mum moved in in 1987. Years ago it was a market garden and the people took flowers to convent garden. Up the top garden, where I don't venture anymore, there are all snowdrop on the east bank and there were also snowdrops on the land OH owned out the front of us. I pinched some before anyone live there in 1992 cos they were taller than the ones we had in the garden and I put them, about 10 of them, up at the south facing wall. I now have 5 bunches of those growoing up there so they must have spread well. I put the crocus in amongst them a few years ago but got them in late hence there not many but they are increasing too.

Good morning all. Very dark and cloudy grey here, 6 degrees, no frost.
Tesco due later no subs nothing unavailable so that is good.
Friend coming round for coffee later.

I had a weird night. Literally slept an hour at a time and that hour was filled with dreaming. Dreams were full of people I know or knew.
I didn't get to bed until 11.30 as I stayed up watching the programme with Burt Bacharach and his band talking playing the piano and singing his songs and others singing his songs. Not sure when the programme was made he was quite old then. Lovely to hear the music. Probably why I slept badly.

AnninGlos Report 11 Feb 2023 21:27

The snowdrops are beautiful Mel. There must be thousands of them. How long have they been there to spread like that?

How lovely to chat to your friend, Mel after such a long time.
The years just melt away when you get talking like that :-D

What wonderful displays of snowdrops.. so many! They look beautiful and must really cheer the cold days for you.
Thank you for sharing.

Vera, I hope your eye continues to improve and is less painful.
You did well to have a walk today, but don't overdo it, will you?
I'm sure that your stew will be a welcome meal today and tomorrow... so warming in this chilly weather.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 11 Feb 2023 17:09

Glad your feeling a bit better Vera.

My BIL turned up just as I ws about to go to the hsop for the paper etc so that was good I did'nt have to lock up. He has put new blades on the old mower so it should be all ready to start mowing when it needs it but one of the pulleys has stopped working so he has to get a new one of those as it runs a belt which is why the belt broke in the first place. Theres always something conking out.

Then my best friend from Suffolk rang and I hav'nt spoken to her for years. We always send cards for Christmas and birthdays and I did write in her that I had lost oh and thought it funny she did'nt ring me then. I tried to get in touch with her through email but she had changed her address. We talked for 31 minuets.

BIL has now gone home and its all nice and quiet here again. I gave him coffee and two sausage multi seeded rolls to keep him going and a nice strong coffee. So thats been my day, O I did clean the big girls out while he was here too.

Happy Birthday Mandy.

Lovely to see your family on your special day

Our local bus is being recontinued after today, so I made a point of using it for the last time :-(
It's been rather cloudy and dull with just hints of brightness, but seems milder, so I took myself off to the beach having first checked tide times.
It was fairly quiet there with wide stretches of sand exposed. 2 young boys were their with their family and each boy was making good use of the vast space to race their remote control cars... They were having a great time.
There were a few dogs out for walks and some were enjoying dashing into the water..... no dogs allowed on that beach May to September. All of them seemed to be well controlled, whether on a lead or not.
I actually walked on the beach myself spotting the different types of shells in the sand. Then I sat up on the sea wall watching the tide come in.
I could watch the sea for ages :-D
A walk along the promenade was next before cutting through between some houses to catch the bus to near my house for the last time.

I can still get to the sea after we lose our bus, but it will mean walking about half a mile to the main road and back.

Thanks AnnG. I'll respond on the book thread.

I'm pleased you are having a good day Mandy (even if you are left with all the coffee mugs to clear away). That is sad about your hairdresser. Sixty is no age at all. Her family will miss her

It must be great to have a warm house again Mel and the heat must be better for your hips and knees than getting cold.

I hope your pain is subsiding a bit now Island.

Lovely to see the snowdrops Gwyn. We usually take a trip to either Ickworth or Anglesey Abbey in February for the snowdrops but we haven't managed it yet this month.

It's been a very overcast day with no sun to cheer the place up but it is quite a bit warmer. Computer at the moment is saying 10 degrees. I had a good night, sleeping from about midnight to 6 am without waking.

My eye is much better today. It's still sore but it's no longer watering and the black spots have disappeared. They were weird "floaters" as there seemed to be quite a lot floating at shoulder height a bit in front of me. I felt as though I was walking into a swarm of flies all the time. Until I see the doctor I won't know whether the jabs have helped or not but my gut feeling is that things have not got any worse so I think the jabs have at least stabilised my sight

I did manage a short walk today. With migraines, painful eyes and bad weather I have almost forgotten what my legs are for but I wanted an item that was out of stock when Sainsburys delivered, so I walked to the local Co-op. I managed to get what I wanted. It's only just over a mile there and back but at least I moved my legs a bit :-)

I put two days worth of stew in the slow cooker this morning so that will do for tonight and tomorrow. OH will just have to forgo his Sunday roast.

I think it's time for a cuppa and a read of the newspaper now. "See" you tomorrow.

Afternoon all,

Thank you for my cards ,Mel haven't got yours yet but our post is still all over the place so it will come when it comes :-)

Had the family here and then my sister and bil came so a busy morning .

Anng you asked about the hairdresser ,no she doesn't have a young family she was sixty but does have two sons with grandchildren, one who I know will miss her terribly as he was really close to her.

Vera hope your getting over that trauma to your poor eye and that it's less sore today .

Mel thats good you now have a nice warm home again ,it's now that you need a nice bit of rain to help wash away all the outside mess.

Better get the dishwasher loaded up now with all the coffee mugs and our lunch things .
