Hi Liz.

I ussedt o make those hobby horses too and yes my friends and I all had them and had Gymkanas and things. Different bridles for them and made out of leather too. Mum did a lot of patches on the sleeves of dads jackets and always had scraps of leather for us to use. In fact I have just looked in the trunk that is kept in the hall and it is full of material of all different kinds and right on top is a large lump of suede leather!!

Maureen, Have you got a piccy of Alfie, if you have I would love to see it please. Polly is sending me messages from Facebook. I THINK I've replied, but I'm awfully sure what I'm doing!!!! I expect Laura will sigh!! but I'm not really a video generation, never mind anything else!!!

No Mandy you can keep your windy dog to yourself thankyou very much. I have been down that road many times when I had three dogs who seemed to think if one of them did it they all had to!!!

Hi All,

Thanks for the pictures of the Degus Ann. I had'nt heard of them but thought they looked like a cross between a gerbil and a russian hampster. I shall have a look at the wiki thingy you put up.

Thank to to Fiona for your pic of Ginny and a young you. I did notice that both of you have the same colour hair!

Well I did a lot of legal stuff today.Came home with a kebab for OH and fish and chips for me. So no cooking tonight and not a lot of washing up either.

Looking forward to seeing the next episode of Turn Back Time tonight. OH is off in his study so perhaps I can watch it in peace tonight without all the comments he makes about them being wrong!!

Ah! Chinchillas are the ones I was thinking of.My friend had a Chinchilla called Suzie. Will look them up in a bit .Just dishing up dinner now.

Annx Report 16 Nov 2010 20:08

I just looked them up Jane as I didn't know much about them. They are highly social, related to Guinea pigs and Chinchillas and are from Chile. Quite unique in some ways.......worth a read......esp the Pets and the Research bits down the page.

Ann ,I must have missed you mentioning the Degus before..Oh they look cute.
What are they??

Evening All,

Bitterly cold here now, but was nice in the sun when we walked around a nearby village earlier. We went and had a look at the church too.....it had some gargoyles and really old 1700s decorative headstones. So often we drive by, but never stop to have a look.

Ginny looks a really sweet dog Fiona. I bet she was a lovely playmate.....I'm sure if I'd had a dog it would have been dressed up and put in my doll's pram!

Jane, it was much foggier over your way this morning........I have been trying to get a nice misty photo.....you beat me to it! Glad your OH has got his suit now.

Me and my friend made horses with canes and old socks just the same as you Liz. As we got better at making them, we would sew a blaze or star on their faces and put buckles on the bridles. That rough string twine made lovely wavy manes and tails when you unravelled it didn't it. I think we had a stable of at least 4 each......oddly enough I had a black one called....Merlin!
We even did showjumping on them with homemade jumps in the garden. lol, lol

The card reader for my mobile card has arrived so I will send you a pic of the Degus in the new pet shop I mentioned......not everyone's cup of tea, but they do look cute!!

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 16 Nov 2010 18:21

Slim legged ???? or do you mean tight lol

Jane , i make hubby's mothers christmas cake recipe , and tie a double sheet of brown paper round the tin so no way will it burn as the oven is only on at 130 and then you turn it down to 110 ,i'll send you the recipe if you want its really easy !!

Jane

Jane Report 16 Nov 2010 18:13

Mandy ,yes the arrived yesterday, and the Jacket from the first was picked up later.Chris likes the new one ,I'm not sure about the trousers!!! But can I say anything??? NO.They just look a bit too slim legged to my mind.Cost a b***** fortune too.
Yes Sheila well done raising all that money.A lot of hard work goes into fund raising, and what a brilliant thing to raise money for.

I burn Christmas cakes so gave up trying several years ago.I might try mince pies again this year.I did have a lovely recipe for Filo mince pies.I think it was a sainsb*** one from probably 5 or more years ago.But I have lost it.
