Mel, how lovely I would love a photography trip in Iceland I bet he gets some fantastic photos.
Good luck with selling the compressor.

I have just spent 20 minutes weeding around where the bulbs grow, the soil is good there so the weeds love it mostly one specific weed that grows in clumps a bit like cress, small leaves and low growing white flowers in summer. And seems to self seed. I have got a lot of it up now.

Just thinking of buying a slightly larger air frier (Lakeland but it is difficult as, if I order it today I don't know when it will come and I am out all day Friday. Maybe if I order it tomorrow it will be ok and not come Friday.

Morning Anng and all,

Quite bright here this morning and its 9 degrees and pc says mostly cloudy so how long the sunshine will last I don't know.

Had someone come and look at the commpressor yesterday I said I would let him know how much I wanted for it and all the nail guns that go with it when BIL gets back from Iceland. He's on a photography trip with friends till Sunday.

Good morning all fairly bright here again and 7 degrees so milder than it was. I might have a look to see if i can do anything in the garden today although the soil is still very damp. still that makes for easier weeding.

I have been going to this dentist for almost 51 years now Vera, they were originally NHS but are part NHS and part private these days. During my time there the dentists (and I have seen 10 of them including two private 'locums' and also the owner and his wife. I now have the young son) originally the dentists would do a manual clean (no hygienist), it was not until the 'new' automatic drill type cleaning tool came into being that I had trouble. and the current dentist stopped using it on me and continued with the manual clean.. My teeth have never been very good and I had loads of fillings before we moved here with in other places, some nightmare dentists. My teeth have always been ultra sensitive. I assume it is the make up of my teeth and the nerves. Some people seem to be more sensitive than others, but they did get more sensitivity in the last 20 years. anyway as dentists left and different ones came they insisted that it was better for teeth health to use the auto cleaning instrument but quickly learnt that I was unable to stop jumping when they hit a nerve which was not safe. So one private dentist suggested numbing and she found it worked as she could clean under the teeth as well (hence the term 'deep clean').
My problem was if the deep clean was not done teeth would start to get 'mobile' which was happening and also the tartar under the teeth would eventually cause bone problems. Still it works, after a few deep cleans my teeth did start to tighten and I only have one that is a bit loose now which is apparently good. Each inspection my dentist measures 'something' by putting a probe down the sides of the teeth. He was very pleased yesterday.
although I do hate going to the dentist and don't look forward to the two cleaning appointments. When I am there it is fine. I am ok with injections and they soon wear off. I would only have it done one side at a time though and that does cause one little problem with front lower teeth as two of the teeth have crossed nerves so are actually on opposite sides when it comes to the injections. I just have to try not to jump too much when he does those. :-D

Good evening all

I’m glad you feel better and your dental visit went OK AnnG. Is your dentist keen on these deep cleans? I’ve never had one nor have any of my friends and I’m sure you must clean your teeth as well as we do, so I wondered why he/she thinks there is a need for it.

Thanks for letting us know why Gill isn’t posting Mel. Do the bird watch next year if you can. No-one will be looking at individual gardens but the results will be fed into a computer to get an overall picture. You tell them if the area you are checking is small, medium or large, if it’s town or country, how far from farmland, if you have a pond and if you put out food for the birds.

I’ve had a couple of friends in for tea this afternoon. I made a Victoria Sandwich which was OK but not one of my better efforts I had some fancy biscuits as well and a couple of hours passed very quickly with chatting and laughing.

I’ve got a haircut tomorrow morning. My hairdresser, who owns the salon, went on holiday today for 2 weeks. My hair is growing so quickly lately that I can’t wait another couple of weeks to get it cut, so I’ve been booked in with another girl. I hope she’s OK.

Lately, I’ve been having a few restless nights full of weird dreams but I slept well last night. It was about 1 am before I got to sleep but then I didn’t wake till just after 7. I’m hoping I’ll sleep as well tonight but right now I had better go and sort out tonight’s dinner.

I have just come off the phone from Gill and her lap top has crashed so she is hoping to get one from a friend of hubby's which he is going to give her. When she is all set up again she will be back on the thread and she just wanted to let you all know. We were on the phone for 45 minuets!!!

I couldn't get to sleep for ages but slept ok when I did finally drop off.

Went to the dentist and teeth all ok but need cleaning as usual. First appointment was for 27 February. so that will be for one side cleaned. It will be mid March before the other side gets done I think. If you remember I have to have injections for deep cleaning.

Mel, next time do the bird watch. they will believe you because they will know where you are and it is places like yours with different birds that they need to know.

Morning all,

Woke at 8.04am and lay for a while but must have dropped off again as when I came out to make a COC and turned pc on it was 9.05am so I either read the phone time wrong or fell asleep again. Its put me out as its shopping day today.

Forgot to order my scripts yesterday so have done that this morning and now I am going to get in the shower.

Oh would never let me do the bird watch as he said they would'nt believe how many different birds come to our garden. the sad thing is in that last very cold spell I found a Long Tailed Tit dead under the bird feeder. I cleared it up and poured masses of boiling water around under the feeder. I had seen it the day before and it did'nt look happy and did'nt fly away when I went ot the car for something which was strange.

Hope you slept better last night Anng and everyone else.

Good morning all, feel better this morning an ok to go to the dentist. (mixed feelings about that of course). that means another battle with the new road lay out, double roundabouts and crossings in different places. When we moved here the roads were like country lanes, very quiet. We could not have envisaged the amount of traffic they would eventually take. Or, if it comes to that the loss of the greengrocer, butcher, paper shop, post office and bank. All were within walking distance when we moved here in 1992.

Do tell your OH to be careful. the march before T died our garage door suddenly came down on his head. He seemed OK at the time but who knows what lasting efffect that had on him.

The PC is saying it is 10degrees but I have just been out with the bins and it is freezing.
I still don't feel right I have only had a mug of chicken cup a soup and three small crackers for lunch. anyway I have put the heating on.

So far I have done a load of washing and nothing else!! I keep getting side tracked and I can't find a mould I want so have to make another one which takes at least two days if I keep putting the coats on.

I am now going to take a pill and hoover, yes I must hoover before lunch.

I have been meaning to say my snowdrops have been out for two weeks at least maybe longer and the hellebores are blooming too but are a bit weedy this year.

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 30 Jan 2023 12:34

It’s a bright sunny morning and 8 degrees but feels colder as there is a stiff breeze. I’ve done a couple of loads of washing and that seems to be all I have done this morning. I just don’t know where time disappears to.

Good to see you post Ann. I hope you are enjoying the courses and the work that you have to do for them.

I hope you are feeling less under the weather now and will soon be 100% AnnG. I must take a walk round our little garden and see what’s blooming. Last time I looked the winter aconites were all showing yellow colour but hadn’t opened up and there were a couple of hellebores in bloom. The daffs in a bed are up about 4 inches but are nowhere near blooming. They are an early one called February Gold so they need to start growing a bit quicker or they won’t be flowering in February. I know what you mean about the birds and the bird count. We normally get lots of bluetits but I only saw one when I did the count

Thank you all for your great grandchild congratulations. Of course I am delighted for them but I do have a few concerns, mainly down to the short time they have been together, accommodation and lack of money. However, I’m optimistic for them and hope this is a relationship that lasts a lifetime.

WOULD YOU BELIEVE IT!! We’ve just had a little flock of long tailed tits fly in, plus a wren. Where were they when I was doing the bird count?

Better go and get some lunch ready. That’s usually OH’s job but he is outside trying to do a repair to the mechanism of the up and over garage door.

AnninGlos Report 30 Jan 2023 11:12

i swear the birds know when there is a bird count. From memory on Friday when I did the count. I saw two Wood pigeons, 1 magpie, 1 robin, 1 blackbird, 2 great tits, 1 blue tit, 2 house sparrows and 1 wren.

This morning I have just glanced out of the window and in my garden is a song thrush. I have not seen one of those for over a year. Why today when the bird count is finished?

I had a brief walk round the garden to see if it made me feel better as I still feel very much under the weather with nothing specific except the knowledge that I should remember I can't eat seeded bread.
On my brief walk I noted that the snowdrops are about a mm above ground. a couple of daffodils are in flower and I spotted one crocus and a couple of helebores. Not a lot but a brief glimpse of spring.

Morning Anng and all,

Its positively tropical here at 7 degrees with some sun and no wind.

Must do some HW today as I have been a naughty girl doing my miniture and leaving the HW. There is only me to see it but I don't like it when there's bits on the kitchen floor and there is. Leaves and sawdust mainly. Leaves blow in from outside when the winds in the east and I bring in the sawdust from the chickens even though I alway wipe my feet well.

The lady has finerly paid for my things on Ebay so I have a parcel to take up the post van too.

So what are you lot up to today?
