Vera I hope all goes well tomorrow and that it stays dry for the burial. Future years this time of year will be even more sad for you.
In some ways it doesn’t seem that I have been alone for four years, in others it seems for ever.
I can honestly say there are very few days I don’t think of him.
Have a safe journey.

Ann I imagine G is so good at his schools job that they put more on him all the time. The old thing ‘if you want a job done ask a busy person’. He must learn to say no.

Thank you everyone, he's been a bit better today with less pain and his eye has stopped hurting so we think he might have just rubbed it. The hospital rang him this morning and discussed everything with him and the way forward. Can you believe his cholesterol was only 3.2! Mine's never been that low. The chemist had the tablets so that was good and I took him to Waterstones to collect a book he'd ordered, so he was pleased with that.

I hope you have a good journey tomorrow Vera and it is nice you can stay overnight with your daughter, as it will be an emotional day and your company will be good for her. You and AnnG both have sad memories this time of the year.

Yes he does love his work Mel, and I think he will keep the council work as they are expected to follow his advice, so I think he will keep that, as some is online meetings and there are no reports to write after. It is the school work that takes so much time. Meetings are longer if they don't stay on track and there is writing up after, and they lose things he sends.....better stop there!

A shame about your parcel saga Mel, but hopefully it will soon be sorted now. It's good you had a chat with your doctor and she put your mind at rest. Different brands of tablets can have different fillers and they don't all suit everyone, so that may be the case with you. I seem to have a variety of brands, much more than years ago.

AnnG I think they told him to try physio and they will do a scan then if there's no improvement.

I know Mandy and he had to have that colonoscopy at the start of it as well. He's a bit more cheerful today though and managed a wisecrack. The lady who rang him this morning said he needs to take more of the painkillers as well. He's having some tonight, so I hope he has another better sleep. He's got 4 pillows now so he can keep more upright which he says hurts less. I think his friend calling to see him tomorrow will be good. It will all be football talk, so I shall staying here and do some admin. I might like that prog too, so I'll look it up.

I have managed to read your posts but this will be another quick one from me.

Your poor OH is really going through it Annx and so are you. Thinking of you both <3

How can it be 4 years since you sadly lost T (and I lost my brother) AnnG? Tomorrow won't be an easy day for you but remember all those happy times you spent together and the love you shared.

We are leaving home at 8.15 am tomorrow to go to my daughter's. We'll probably get there about 9 but have left extra time in case of delays. The hearse leaves at 9.45, service is at 10.30, woodland burial at midday and wake/reception from 1 pm till whenever. We are staying at daughter's overnight so OH doesn't have to drive home after dark.

I have a Tesco delivery between 7 and 8 pm tonight, later than I like but all I could get before the weekend. No subs so that is good.

I won't be on the thread tomorrow and I'm not sure about Thursday so I hope you all have a good couple of days.

Afternoon all,

Raining here and the sky is very grey but we have had the odd peep of the sun but it's very chilly out ,we went shopping and I went into Timpsons little cabin outside Tesco's and had my photo done for my driving licence so just got to fill the paper in and send in my birth cert and marriage cert and get someone to sign the back of the photo and get it in the post .

Oh Ann all these troubles OH is getting ,toothache and now his eye getting sore again ,I hope these things soon ease for him how much can one person take I do feel for him .
Its good that the stronger pain killers helped him to get a slightly better night's sleep.

Anng that was kind of Cynth to put your bin out ,our binmen are here very early about 6.30 in the morning but it is a job to know what to do when it's so windy as they soon go over in the wind ,I saw the other day where someone had held their bin shut with one of those stretchy bungee straps which I thought was a good idea when in thd garden but no good when it needs emptying as the bungee would go with the bin .

Mel that was good you managed to speak to the doctor and she could put your mind to rest ,that's good too that you've sorted the label ouf with the postman have you got to pay again for it .
There's a programme on Sunday Miss Austin that you might enjoy a historical drama ,bbc 1 five past nine .

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 28 Jan 2025 12:51

What about the payment, did they refund the first one Mel?
Bins have been emptied I noticed that the bin man took next doors bin round the side of his house so he must have applied to have that done. It would not occur to him to ask any of us, he is so independant.
Pleased you have the TV back, you don't need that problem at this time do you. At least G can take a stronger pain killer sometimes, sleep is the best thing for him. Has he had a scan done on his back, I can't remember now.

Morning all,

Mostly cloudy today and 84% of rain and its a bit windy and 9 degrees.

Hope you manage to get all oh's meds ok Annx so he can et on and mend. When you're an active person it so hard to slow down and I know he enjoyed his jobs with the schools. Nice they sent him flowers what a kind gesture. Sending love and wishes as always. <3

Its shopping day today and I was up late having stayed up to watch the second Silient Witness. I had to see it it was so gripping. Remember when we had to wait a week to see the next episode?

I had quite a long chat on the phone with my doc yesterday evening and she put my mind at rest about something thats been worring me and a\advised me to take some Evening Primrose for three months so I ordered some online. She also said they would order me three months of the cardicore I take as they kept saying they could'nt get it. She is going to chase it up. Its so annoying when thye change the make of you meds. I have been on this one since 2014 when my heart stopped working properly then they say they can't get it and put me on something else which is supposed to be the same but I don't feel it is. Also when I get the pills out of the foil thing they ping evrywhere but where you wnat them and usually end up on the floor and then I don't fancy them. I can't remember if she ordered all my other pills too so I better ring to make sure.

Annx Report 28 Jan 2025 09:56

Morning AnnG and All,

Dry here now and 8 degrees. Our binmen had put our bin back nextdoor with theirs and OH went out in PJs and dressing gown to fetch it as it was lightweight and empty. If we don't the neighbour often takes it by mistake and locks the side gate.

I had a look online and found that SKY was down in this area and it didn't come back on last night, but this morning it was on again. I had to get behind the TV to switch the box off and on again and then the mini box to reconnect but all is ok now thank you. When you don't do things often, the brain has to think harder. The minibox fits on the wall behind the tv now and I hadn't had to do it since it was put there. It's good you didn't lose reception, despite the flickering. Good you slept well too. OH had a lot of pain lying in bed so he took the stronger painkillers and had a better night. My night was very restless and wakeful. This morning his eye has flared up again since stopping the eyedrops and he should really go to eye casualty, but can't really face it so he's going to phone them soon and see if he can just restart the eyedrops he has plenty of now. It's such a shame he has all these other troubles just at this time. He's even getting some toothache with a loose tooth that his dentist and the hospital are dragging their feet deciding who should remove it. Anyway I have phoned the chemist and they have at least half of the 2 months suppy of the tablet he runs out of today, so we or I can fetch those and the school in the village he does work for have sent some lovely flowers, so that was nice.

I'm having a half hour rest now before we go out.

Good morning all 6 degrees and raining a bit. Cynth and I didn't put our bins out yesterday as we didn't want them blown over. I was up at 0730 and dressed to put mine out but she beat me to it and had both lots out (she went out in her PJs and a coat.)

Ann did the TV come back on? I assume you had tried the unplug/replug in thing?
Strange but with all the lights dipping, the TV never flickered. Anyway it doesn't seem to have gone off over night.
Hope you eventually got to sleep Ann. I slept well last night until gone 7 with two loo breaks.

Annx Report 27 Jan 2025 23:42

It's late for me too, but still no tv to watch, so I thought I'd stay here as I know it will be ages before I sleep. You two are watching two of my favourite progs just to tease me! Yes I was glad I saw that doctor today.

It 's a SKY outage here.

We've lost our tv channels now! Must be the weather. :-(

Annx Report 27 Jan 2025 19:04

Afternoon All,

What a cold day it's been, but sunny here. Again OH slept a bit more than me and I woke in the early hours as usual, but did nod off once or twice.

The surgery sorted all of the issues for OH, but he decided to see the Physio first again and they moved his appointment earlier for him so we could go straight for his eye appointment after. His meds should be there for him tomorrow and they are sorting the card he needs to carry.

I had a great chat with the new doctor I saw who was very caring and understanding. Feelings and symptoms are all anxiety related and to be expected. He answered all my questions about OH that were bothering me and, to make me feel better supported, he has referred me to a local lady who runs several Interest groups for people in the same or similar circs. It includes a group to just have a drink and chat if you want to try that first. He said it has been a great success with patients coming to tell him what a difference it has made. He also gave me a leaflet about free talking therapies where you can get help if you are worried or stressed to help you get your life back on track. They help you agree the best support then you get treatment by a qualified therapist. I didn't know the NHS did this. I'm to go back to see him if I don't feel better.

We fetched a few bits from the big Co-op then that I forgot to put on the Asda order. He's been emailing the remaining schools and they have been shocked but very supportive about him getting himself well as the priority. One lady I let know Last week rang and asked me how he was, so I fetched him to speak to her for a short chat. He's had a card from one of the councils he does work for and a footie friend is coming to see him on Wednesday.

AnnG and Vera it is a shame this weather is disrupting your sites and causing problems. You are getting on well with your cards and jobs AnnG, but the freezer job would be chilly. Nice to get it done though.

Mel tthere is nothing worse than people having foul breath getting close to you like the optician as well. When I had people next to me training them I was paranoid about having BO and fresh breath and even kept a packet of mints in my drawer to suck and would offer them one too if they needed one! ;-) I hope you get the label tomorrow.

Sounds like the buns are going down well Mandy.

AnninGlos Report 27 Jan 2025 17:01

Fingers crossed you can get on before then. I think the weather is affecting lots of things on line. virgin media was playing up this morning throwing me out of various things. When I checked it seemed to be general in this area, lots of complaints.

SuffolkVera Report 27 Jan 2025 16:32

Just popped in to say hallo but I can't stay. It's been one of those days when everything I touch has gone wrong through no fault of mine. The latest was just now. i realised that the only day this week that I could have a Tesco delivery is tomorrow so I quickly got quite a big order in. The whole site seemed to be working a bit slowly but when I tried to pay and check out we just went round and round in circles. Eventually a notice came up to say the fault was at their end and I should try again later, so more time wasted. Also if I can't pay by 5.30 I will lose the slot. Grrr.

I hope everyone is OK and Annx's doctor's appointment went well.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 27 Jan 2025 15:04

I hate clearing the freezer out cos mine is a chest freezer.I know there is a lot of stuff in there that could go but I just can't face it. Maybe when its warmer.

I meant to send some bits to some friends of mine at Chirstmas but it just seemed to run away with me this year so I am going to do the little dolls house things up and send them as An After Chirstmas Present.

Washing has been blowing well on the line so I think I may bring that in and iron it.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 27 Jan 2025 14:52

We did have some sun but now it is lashing down. The bins have to go out today too, Mine is not very heavy (recycling) just hoping it won't blow over. and now sun through the rain.

Just done a very cold to the hands job. Cleared out the top three drawers of the freezer and written the contents down.
I hate food waste but I did find some stuff from 2021. No way would I eat that so it has gone in the food bin. Just got a couple more drawers to sort but I roughly know what is in those.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 27 Jan 2025 12:50

Sorry Anng Iv'e been busy. The sun has come out and I did a wash and put that out and its blowing in the wind. Fed the girls and the wild birds and they have eaten nearly everything I put out this morning. I had bought two new peanut feeders as I put the fat sticks in one. The Woodpecker had ruin the first one I had which is why I had to buy new ones but I think the new suet pellet are softer than the last lot and they are going through them like wildfire. I fill it three times a day if they're lucky.

Postman came with the label I order yesterday online but not with the one for Saturdays parcel. My postie was off on Saturday and it was a girl I did'nt know so Tim said anyway I did'nt get to her before she drove off so I tried to rebook it for today but it would'nt let me so I thought Tim would bring it with the other one. No he did'nt know anything about it but has chased them up and will probably come for it tomorrow. Makes me cross cos I like to post as soon as I can after they have paid. Iv'e had to message the buyer and explain.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 27 Jan 2025 12:08

Ooh talking to myself.

8 degrees now and sunny but it did feel cold when I went to put some bits on the bird table. sparrows are eating me out of house and home. I nearly completely filled a large feeder with cheap mixed seed and the sparrows have eaten the lot. I have seen at least six sparrows round the feeder. That is actually good news because I think their numbers were decreasing. So I don't mind.

I decided a bit of H/w was required so I have vacuumed and dusted downstairs, cleaned the bathroom and changed the bed. And have also put a chicken leg in the slow cooker for tonight.
