AnninGlos Report 24 Jan 2025 08:31

good morning all 8 degrees here, dry and quite bright. Looks as though it rained overnight but not a lot. there is a light wind and everything looks calm.
Glad that Stu enjoyed the curry Mel, always good that somebody enjoys what you cook.

I have forgotten how many mowers you have now. Hope Stu can free up the wheel for you then at least it can 'earn' its keep.
I didn't realise you still have OH's car. why don't you get rid of it now and make space. It will only deteriorate leaving it.

Photography meeting this afternoon, being picked up by one of the men from the group. He has worse hearing than me so chat in the car will be 'fun'. good job it is only 5 minutes by car.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 24 Jan 2025 01:16

I do hope he is home at last after waiting all that time for his meds.
It will be a treat to sleep in his own bed tonight and maybe both f you will get a good nights sleep and there's nothing for you too rush up for inn the morning so hav a nice lie in.

Stu came and he really enjoyed the curry. He eats so fast I can't get over it. He says he's going to come and move oh's car at the weekend and get the old mower out and free up the front wheel so BIL can get the deck off to put on the other old mower. Its a long grass deck and he thinks it will be better for the outside.

It lashing rain here now and the winds very high and I keep hearing bump in the garden so goodness knows whats blowing about. I can't see anything from the back door as the light only goes down the garden and not up the orchard. With the gust it sounds like the roof is lifting!! as it keeps creaking.

well I hope you all have a good night tonight and I will see you all in the morning god willing.

Hurrah he's ready and I'm off to fetch him!

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 23 Jan 2025 21:23

It is a worry for you and tiring for him. I have read complaints about having to wait for medications in hospital. Apparently, the answer was, even a prescription from a patient has to go on the end of the queue of all those waiting. Nurses can’t jump the queue I don’t know if that is correct.

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 23 Jan 2025 21:13

I can't believe he is still waiting Ann but try not to get too stressed. G needs you to be calm and reassuring right now so just take a few deep breaths. The hospital will be keeping a close eye on him and once you are back with him you can both rest up as much as you need to. Sending you love <3

MillymollyAmanda Report 23 Jan 2025 20:57

Well those meds should be under lock and key in the med trolley so the head nurses should know where they are ,surely they haven't given them to someone else ,how can they not know where they are .
I know they have to come up from the hospital pharmacy the tablets you bring home but it shouldn't take this long should it .

Annx

Annx Report 23 Jan 2025 20:46

He's still waiting for meds and is supposed to be taking some tonight. They can't find one of them, yet they had it when he was in intensive care and have gone to look for it now. He said they told him at 9.30 am he would be going home so why does it take this long. I can tell he is getting stressed which is the last thing that should be happening. It's making me worry about him more now as well.

At this time I would think about 15 mins Mandy. He said he can't have another sleepless night in a chair, I feel so sorry for him and am getting quite upset about it.

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 23 Jan 2025 20:37

Ann he's never still waiting, goodness it's going to be late before he gets home ,how long does it take to get to the hospital .
The winds up a little but I think the rain has stopped now .

Annx

Annx Report 23 Jan 2025 20:19

Yes the rush hour is long gone now Mandy and he's still waiting for meds. I just looked up the close and it's pitch black, but at least the winds haven't arrived here yet.

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 23 Jan 2025 18:58

It's always medication that holds things up ,we had to hang about waiting for meds before Colin could come out .
Hopefully the rush hour traffic will have eased by the time you need to go Ann.

Gwyn you have had a lot of rain if it's been running down like a river .
When Colin had his ladt hearing aids last year they told him that the aids had changed so much since his last ones and he certainly noticed a difference, I need to go in and get some new Buds as they said every three months they need changing and I need to get a couple of the cleaning wires as we thought we had lost them but I did find one on the floor when I hoovered this morning .

Annx Report 23 Jan 2025 18:35

Oh I missed your post Mandy. I could ask the neighbour who came across as a last resort, as he said he would help. I just didn't think of that, but I think I should be ok now as the route is main roads that are well lit and they are taking so long sorting his meds out, the traffic should have eased a lot by now, so I feel a bit better about it and you have good advice about going at my own pace etc. I did get some of those glasses with yellow lenses and I thought they did help with the glare a bit. They are in the car so I might try them when I go as I haven't used them since I avoid nightime driving if I can.

Thank you so much Gwyn. He so wants to be at home now and in his own bed.

I see you have had a lot of rain today if there were rivers running down. I'm glad you can hear clearer now and you have reminded me I will be due a hearing test soon. Yes every change seems to be a headache doesn't it.

Annx, I hope your journey is trouble free and you and OH can travel and settle safely in his own home once more.
I am really sorry to hear what an awful ordeal you both had, when he was taken ill.
The paramedic should surely not have voiced such a strong opinion :-0
The next few days will be a big adjustment time, but hopefully you will both soon come up with a routine that suits you both.
I look forward to hearing that OH is progressing well.

Mandy
What a good idea to take up the opportunity of that stair lift.
My in-laws had one fitted and mother-in-law used to amuse us when she said she sometimes sent her pile of clean washing up on the chair, but walked up herself to meet it.

AnnG
Gosh, you are eager thinking ahead to the new planting season. I'm hoping we can be a bit more organised and grow more this year.

Mel
Whatever you did with your day, I hope you had some good rest too. You have such a lot of ground to care for, thank goodness brother-in-law helps out.

Vera
I hope you have some carefree television viewing now.
We watch via Humax too.
Fairly recently, the TV started to have grid lines of rows of lights on it, so as the set was second hand from OH's aunt back in 2011, we bought a new TV.
We now have a grid pattern on a larger screen :-0 :-|
It was obviously the 'box' that needs replacing and not the actual TV. That will mean another remote control to get used to.
I do hate change...

A dull and very chilly morning here, but by the time daughter dropped me at the hospital for a hearing aid check, down came the rain and as I walked back into town, it was running in huge rivers down the pavements.
The helpful audiologist has 'rewired' me, so I can hear so much clearer now. He told me his records show that I haven't had a hearing test for a while and the present Cros system, which I have has already been updated, so I might have difficulty getting parts for a repair if needed, so a hearing test might be a good idea, so that the team have an idea of my present needs, if something should go wrong.
Oh dear, more change ahead ...

I hope everyone keeps safe and manages to sleep well through any adverse weather.

Take care everyone <3

Annx Report 23 Jan 2025 17:35

I thought that at first AnnG, but I think I was probably so stunned and didn't look as if I'd taken on board what he'd said. Apparently there are 3 entrances to this hospital and a nurse has now told him which they usually use as someone will wheel him to the entrance. Luckliy it is next to where I go for mammagrams, so I know exactly where to go and it has quite a few drop off spaces too. I think for future reference I will go in the city before long and have a drive round the three hospitals to find all the entrances and their names. Also for the future either of us could take a taxi to go and collect the other.

He said they seemed pleased with him, and although his heart function isn't perfect just now, it can improve and may recover if he follows advice with a sensible diet, exercise, reduces stress etc. He will go back for an assessment in 3 months to see whether he needs a small defibrillator a bit like a pacemaker fitted which I think will correct anything it detects. The neighbour who came over said his brother has had one for 12 years.

I expect he will be a bit careful at least for a little while Mandy, but they have emphasised that people musn't be put off doing some exercise as it will help. Start off gently with a little walking I think and don't overdo it. When I went to the gym for a short while many moons ago there were cardiac patients there using the machines.

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 23 Jan 2025 16:57

Ann is there a neighbour that could go with you to the hospital ,I hate driving at night because of the glare ,I've often wondered if those antiglare glasses for driving at night are any good .
Try not to worry your use to driving in heavy traffic just not in the dark take your time those behind you can wait if they pip take no notice they won't drive into you and they don't own the road just concentrate and you'll be there before you know it and on the way back you'll have OH with you <3

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 23 Jan 2025 16:29

I suppose the paramedic was trying to warn you but seems a strange thing to say to somebody’s partner.

A taxi would have been better for you but he will need a coat as it is so cold.

We will all be thinking of you both. I hope that G will continue to get better.

Vera good that you managed some sleep last night.

Mandy a good idea to get the stair lift when there is a good opportunity. We never know how long we can go on climbing stairs.

Annx

Annx Report 23 Jan 2025 16:13

I was terrified Mandy and was certain I was losing him when I heard the paramedics saying 'stand back' several times, as I knew what it meant. As the paramedics were leaving one told me he would probably die later that day. Now he's fretting about whether I'll take a while because of the traffic and if he'll get a signal for his phone near the entrance to ring me. It's not ideal and I wish he'd had a taxi to bring him home, but he hasn't got a coat with him. I'm feeling stressed as I hate driving in the dark with my eyes and it will be busy with traffic from now on. I know he won't be able to drive for a few weeks, so I'm going to be busy ferrying him about too. I feel that modern life is just getting too difficult now or I'm getting too old..

It's a good idea to get the stair lift now Mandy and good that you have one sorted and the man to install it. It will be much safer for the future if needed.

SuffolkVera Report 23 Jan 2025 16:04

Good news that OH is coming home Annx. I am very pleased for you both. I had not realised either that resus was needed. You are bound to be a bit worried and I expect you will be watching him like a hawk but he wouldn't be allowed home if the doctors weren't confident he is well on the way to recovery. Your OH is being sensible and treating it like a warning to slow down a bit. My best wishes for his continued recovery.

That chair lift sounds a good deal Mandy. You might not want to use it now but it will be good to have it in place ready for when you do need it. I remember a few years ago having to go to a photographer in town for a new photo but I can't remember whether it was for my passport renewal or licence renewal. I hope you get your licence sorted out OK.

Did you get to the garden centre AnnG or was the weather too bad? Here it has poured all day though it seems to have eased a little bit at the moment. It's just a bit breezy now but the wind is supposed to be getting very gusty tonight and be bad all tomorrow. It's apparently 7 degrees but feels much colder to me.

After a lot of fiddling OH managed to get our TV programmes back so he watched something last night and I got to see the news today. Regarding the remotes Mel, we have always had to operate with 2 as in our lounge, which is where we mostly watch TV, we have to play the TV through our Humax recording device. Don't ask me why but it's the same with our old TV and this new one from our daughter. We have a TV in the conservatory and that plays perfectly normally.. Anyway, there's 1 remote for the Humax, and 1 for the TV plus another one that came with daughter and may be something to do with the Firestick. I won't worry her till after the funeral next week and then I'll get her to come and talk us through it while I write down the instructions. I know it is just a case of getting used to something new but the old brains are a bit slower to grasp things these days.

I was still awake for a lot of the night but I think I did get a little more sleep so I didn't feel quite so bad this morning and we went off to our Thursday coffee meet. 10 of us today.

Oh my goodness, the rain has stopped and I have got a tiny gleam of sun through the window. It seems hardly worth the sun putting his hat on and coming out as he'll be setting at 4.28 today. I've got a birthday card to write and as the rain has stopped it seems a good time to take it to the post.
