What a nuisance about your car Annx. At least the garage have done a temporary fix on the window. Thanks for letting us know the situation with Mel. I am a bit confused how she managed to get on Genes on her tablet if she hasn’t got any internet but I expect there’s a simple explanation.

Yes, AnnG’s roses are lovely aren’t they? It’s good that there is not much change to your eyes and I like the sound of your “light” glasses.

I got a bit of sleep last night so I am feeling quite a lot better today - not 100% yet but getting there. OH had his post op check up this morning and they seem pleased with him and are going to do his other eye on 24th. I wish I had the option of going to this private clinic as an NHS patient for my cataracts. The whole atmosphere is so pleasant and calm but unfortunately I am booked on the hospital waiting list.

When we left the clinic we went to Dunelm which is nearby and looked for some bits and pieces but didn’t get much. We did buy a largish black plastic bin with a lid to replace a bin in use in the garage which OH managed to break. Don’t ask how!!! While he was paying I wandered to the end of the store where there was a book shelf. You could take a book and just put a donation in an AgeUK box. I got OH a good hardback that looked new so put a reasonable donation in the box. While waiting for OH I saw someone take a book and just walk away. I think that’s mean. I know some people don’t have much spare cash but most people can find just a few pennies. While we were in Dunelm I thought of Mandy as I walked past a shelf of pretty balls of wool. I bet she would have bought a couple.

As Dobbies garden centre was on our route we had planned to stop there next but Mr Forgetful drove straight past so we just carried on to Tesco, also on our route home. Here we bought OH a shirt. So he arrived home with a new bin, a new shirt and a book and I arrived home with…..nothing. It’s the story of my life, lol.

OH has a cupboard full of short sleeved shirts, polo shirts and Ts but has decided he now wants to wear long sleeves all the time. He has plenty of thick winter weight shirts so we sorted through his thinner, cotton shirts. Charity shop is getting 6, we’re keeping 2 white and a very expensive blue but they are wedding and funeral shirts, so he was left with 4. I’ve said he needs at least 8 or 9 as I am not washing and ironing more than once a week, hence the shirt from Tesco. In the next day or two we’ll go in to the only men’s shop in town which is expensive but their clothes are good quality and the staff are so helpful that it’s worth the extra cost. Once he’s kitted out with shirts, I’m going to make an onslaught on his trousers.

I’ve been cooking dinner while typing this post and it’s about ready so I had better dish up. Sleep well tonight everyone.

Evening all,

We went shopping today as there were things we had run out of mostly salad and fruit ,we called at tescos for petrol and a bit of shopping then on to Aldi for a bigger shop ,then Roys for more compost and a couple of new pots , I needed to repot a couple of Hostas into bigger pots .

Ann thats annoying having to wait for the part for the car window but at least you have the car until it comes ,did they know how long it was going to take to come .

Looks like Mel managed to post using the tablet earlier , not to long for her to wait to get the problem sorted .

Anng your Roses are pretty ,mine have plenty of buds and I can just see a little colour on one or two buds but none in full flower like yours .

Very hope you had a better night's sleep and feel more with it today .

I forgot to say yesterday we called in the butchers and Jake actually served me first time I've seen him serving in the shop even though hes been serving for months .
Its his birthday next week ,I think he's twenty but I must check the years go so quickly .

The roses are beautiful AnnG and look so healthy as I said in my reply.. Yes it's too hot for gardening here too.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 14 May 2025 14:58

It is 21 degrees here at the moment, much too hot in the garden to do anything out there.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 14 May 2025 14:46

I have sent out some photos of roses in the garden this morning. It seems that Jake's style of pruning has paid off!!!, that combined with the weather I guess.

Annx Report 14 May 2025 14:41

That's good there was little change with your eyes AnnG and your new glasses sound nice. It seems like the new young man may have got them up to date with the IT.

I had good intentions of popping to a garden centre this afternoon to get some plants for some more of my pots, but since lunch I feel more like a nap which is something I never do in the day! I'll pay a bill and do some admin for a while and see whether I go then.

I was in the opticians an hour. I was quite impressed as, as well as the lady on reception, he now employs a young man who is obviously IT trained as everything is now computerised. All seems very efficient. . very little change Just a very small increase in close up to be able (I hope) to read very small writing. Needed glasses though as mine are 3 years old and also needed new ones for the computer. It will be at least three weeks wait now. the ones that suited me best were very light stainless steel frames with a blue trim.
:-D I told my sister that the frames were very light. Ahe asked me what I meant by light so I said 'not heavy'. seemed to satisfy her. She is inclined to be picky over what people say on facebook.

Mel voicemailed me as I was driving to the hairdresser and it's double yellow lines so I couldn't stop and I thought OH must have a problem and need me home so I daren't drive into the hairdresser's carpark and waste time as you have to park and go inside the gym to get a code to get out again. I managed to park further on in the cafe carpark, saw it was Mel and she just wanted me to let you know she has no internet and said an engineer was coming on Monday. I couldn't post till I just got home as I don't use GR on my mobile and didn't know the password. It looks like she has been in contact on a tablet though.

Sorry Mel I was out at the opticians so couldn't let anyone know. You should be able to get on here on your tablet which you seem to have done. Not sure why you can't get on on your main PC though.

I had a problem again this morning before 0730 getting on here.

Morning AnnG and All,

Sunny and hotter today here I think. My car issue is getting more complicated and the garage wasn't happy as they have now been told differently that the part for my car that they were told would be delivered yesterday will now have to come from France! They are going to wedge the window so it won't fall down so I can use it in the meantime and I can collect it at 10.00am. I'd better get ready now. Good luck with your eye appointment AnnG.

AnninGlos Report 14 May 2025 07:44

Good morning all. 8 degrees this morning and still sunny. I have an opticians appointment at 11.15 so am pleased that it is not raining as Cynth is out today so I would get wet walking. going to be a hot walk I think.

Just washing up at the sink and watching the deer up the garden when something caught my eye. It was a fox on the west lawn so I went out the front door and mad a noise and it ran away but so did the deer.

I wandered off to do something and so didn't post till later and missed you Vera.

Yes both of our OHs seem very alike in their escapades don't they! I told mine this morning while we were in the garden that I might lower the Holly and Camellia tops with the longhandled loppers he found, as they are getting hard for me to reach otherwise and will shade too much of the garden as they get taller. OH said he would do it for me, but looked less sure once I said they would need to be 'shaped'. I could just imagine he would cut them straight across like a hedge top! I don't want him to make his back worse either, so compromised by saying he could help cut out a few of the thicker stems that are harder for me and I would tidy the rest.

That was good news at the dentist then, no work to be done this time.

Annx Report 13 May 2025 17:49

I did realise Mel but it isn't always as obvious. My aging brain doesn't need confusing! :-) I hate washing the washing line, even on the rotary but it's surprising how dirty it gets.

Apparently the part for my car should have arrived by 4.30pm and Steve said once he had the part he would work late to make sure the car would be ready for me first thing in the morning. I'd better be up early tomorrow in case it's ready to collect as OH could take me to fetch it before he goes to his council talk, luckily only a mile away. Otherwise, if it isn't ready, he said he would leave the talk early and take me to the hairdressers and collect me afterwards.

Oh Mandy how disappointing your image of a nice crab turned into a tin of tuna! We had a tuna salad today, so I ought to have told OH it was pretend crab! :-D We've noticed how small the market near the Factory shop is now, with just a few sad looking stalls.

It does look like it was only email addresses and dates of birth that were stolen from M&S data AnnG, so I expect it will mean scam emails to try and get bank details from us!

SuffolkVera Report 13 May 2025 17:19

I hope you've got your car back Annx and will be able to get to your hairdressing appointment. Good job you got well stocked with plasters again as your OH does seem to be in the wars. Every time I read of his exploits I think that our OHs were made in the same mould.

I too laughed at Mandy's tuna/crab. I hope she enjoyed it.

Mel, what some of us call jumpy legs is RLS - Restless Leg Syndrome, a recognized condition. It is impossible to just lay in bed and hope to drop off again as you can't control the muscles which make your legs leap all over the bed. For a lot of people the only way to ease it is movement which is why I walk around. Usually that's enough but last night it just kept coming back. Like Annx, 30 years or more ago I was advised to cut down on alcohol and caffeine. I don't like caffeine free tea but I don't have caffeine in anything else, I cut down on alcohol and rarely have chocolate which did help a bit. Sometimes the doctors can't pinpoint a cause but other times it can be linked to another condition, e.g. the underactive thyroid that Annx mentioned. Over the years studies have shown that people who get migraines are twice as likely to have RLS as people who don't get them, and are much more likely to have severe RLS, so that must be my link. Here endeth the medical lecture ;-)

I managed just an hour's sleep after lunch but am too lethargic to do anything at the moment. I don't want to eat and OH has said he is happy to get himself a sandwich so I'm let off cooking tonight.

It's not all doom and gloom. There's some good news. Neither of us needed anything done at the dentist so it was just a good check over and a gentle clean and polish. Next appointment is mid November for the usual 6 month check up

OH is just starting to water some of the pots that are in the shade so I'd better go and check that he's not completely drowning the more delicate plants as he is very heavy handed with the watering can or hose pipe.

Pretended it was crab!!!!!!!!!!!! that made me laugh as I hate crab but love Tuna.

Sorry about the mix up on the jointace gel. I thought as Anng had mentioned about it our other Annx would realise. Sometimes I do it and sometimes I don't but willtry to remember in future.

Its a beautiful sunny day and warm when you're in the sun but theres also a good breeze. washing went out this morning and its ready to come in now. I was going to change the bed but did'nt get round to it.

Shopping came no subs but there was'nt a lot tis week.

I am now going to hoover before venturing into the hot garden. O I have done a little pruning this morning and washed all the washing line before putting the washing out. :-D

Temp has just gone down to 22, it was 23 when I was out there just now. I have planted out in pots and planters etc all my tomatoes. Hopefully some of them at least will survive until I get back, not that I am going just now :-D but I like to be prepared and it is easier to water them outside. I was only out there 30 minutes, it is sunny with clouds and a breeze but it was too hot to stay out long.

It was lovely walking out, I don't think it's quite as hot as yesterday, there's a nice breeze, we got our tablets and I needed some new cord to go in Colins jogging bottoms , not that he goes jogging lol I also got two balls of wool to go in my wool bag ,pretty pink and a nice lemon ,then we got into the market well if you can call it a market ,two stalls this week plant man and fruit and veg stall ,no fish man so no crab and we were really looking forward to a nice crab lunch so I opened a tin of tuna we closed our eyes and pretended it was crab lol
