Family legend says that Hugh should have inherited the title 'baron of Fowlis'. It's very complicated but the rumour has persisted for over 250 years so there must be something in it surely? The family names are: Hugh, Robert, Thomas, Nathaniel, John and those have been repeated down the generations so they must have come from somewhere. |

You can arrange for the film to be sent to your local LDS church and view it there. |

Thanks Steve - I think the Ross and Cromarty on eis the most likely as I think he came from the area around Fowlis Castle in Inverness. Do you know how I could get to see this record? WOuld it be in the Inverness library do you think? Thanks for your help - jennie |

Hi Jennifer, these are the only two possible marriages I could find for Hugh Monro to Elizabeth on IGI (search field 1750 to 1790, all countries) |

Hi Nicky - I've hunted through the IGI batch numbers for London and Middlesex in every parish that has marriage records for the period and cannot find the entry for Hugh Monro and Mary Kain. Do you have any suggestions? jennie |
