yorkshire deaths 1950-1960

Have a death certificate for January 1959, death at Beech Towers Hospital Dewsbury,
Home address ; Upper Sheffield Road, Barnsley.

Not on Barnsley burial lists; possibly non conformist sections.

any suggestions please for location grave or cremation. ?

Try the local council parks and cemeteries dept giving them the details from the death cert

You could also try Deceased online

Not on the site "Deceased on line"- I have a membership of that. No centralised listing of Yorkshire cemeteries- all individual it seems

Some charging 37.00 to do a search I was told by one...

Newspaper archives?

If a death notice was published, the location of the funeral will almost certainly be given

Some councils have got into charging for info as genealogy interest has taken off

Afraid that's how it is now

If it's not online then you pay :-(

Contact the local newspaper where he lived or the Local Archives and Studies Centre, and ask if they could search their file copies (usually now online or microfiche) for the 2 weeks after the death for an obituary.

You may be lucky and get it for free, as I did when I had to do this soe years ago, or there will be a fee.

My brother, photo taken in September 1991 just a couple of weeks before he died. ............................................................ To help us and to get better results, please post as much detail as you can, especially name, date(s) and place. Also say what you already know.

Have you contacted any local crematorium direct?
Some places have online sites which can be freely searched.

Yes, i guess so - I did it through the local library.

I had thought that she might be buried with her brother George Palfreyman and his wife - with whom she lived in later life (she died aged 86) in 1959.

George was buried in Barnsley, but he isnt on 'Deceased on line.' either.
So I am not sure how complete these different sites are.
