I received the 1940 death certificate today. It was the one I wanted.

Death occurred 6 days after her sons birth. Cause given, cardiac failure and septicemia.

So much for it supposedly being due to murder.

Thanks for all the replies especially ArgyllGran pointing out my error with the civillian war death one.

ArgyllGran thank you so much for your reply. Me not spotting in was 1941 show how tired I must have been when looking at the article.

I'm going to send for the 1940 death.

malyon thank you so much for your replies. I'm so sorry looks like I may have wasted your time.

Edit
Certificate ordered.

"I have still not been able to find a death for Louisa"

But you haven't bought a copy of the 1940 death in Ashton yet, have you?
How do you know that's not the right one?

The WW2 civilian death you investigated was on 13 March 1941 - so not the same one.

I have still not been able to find a death for Louisa so checked for a re-marriage just in case.

I found this

Surname First name(s) Spouse District Vol Page
Marriages Dec 1954 (>99%)
ARMDEL Roger HOWARD Ashton 10b 67
Howard Louisa Armdel Ashton 10b 67

Unfortunately I cannot find anything for either of them after this. Would someone mind looking to see if they can find anything please?

Fantastic thought malyon

I've checked WW2 Civilian deaths and have found a Louisa Howard aged 32 on the list. Her husbands name was John Joseph Howard, our Louisa's husband was James so not ours

You've saved me the expense of ordering a pdf

I spotted that as well as Louisa, her husband, 6 year old son, 3 year old daughter and their 14 month old son were also killed. How sad.

I'll order the death cert and find out. Have any of you ordered pdf's instead of the certificates. I just wondered how different they are.

Death in childbirth seems a much more likely cause, as you suggest.

Would someone who has access to British newspapers please take a look to see if there is anything about this death please. A cousin has told me he he'd heard she'd been murdered??

The death occurred in the same quarter that she gave birth to her first child which made me think it was probably due to childbirth. Ashton is in Lancashire

In 1939 she was living in Stalybridge.

Surname First name(s) Age District Vol Page
Deaths Jun 1940 (>99%)
Howard Louisa 32 Ashton 8d 1137

Thank you

Chris
