I’ve just received the death certificate of a family member from 1900 who only survived 6 months. I can’t read the cause of death, despite being a medical editor myself! Can anyone help? I could sent a photo? Many thanks, Liz

You can share a photo on this site using the KEEPSAFE tab at the top of your screen.

Make it so everyone can view, then other people will do their best to help.

Thanks Gwyn, I hope I’ve now uploaded it to keepsake and selected share with everyone. Any help gratefully received.... it’s definitely not tuberculosis... or any of the other common ones like diphtheria, pneumonia etc. The child was only 6 months old when he died, if that’s any help. Thankyou!

Elisabeth -
you'll need to post a link on here, to your Keepsafe, so that we can access it.

Thanks ArgyllGran.... does this work?

Yes, that works.

I think it's marasmus, which is "undernourishment causing a child's weight to be significantly low for their age."

"Severe malnutrition" - poor wee thing:

Yes, I'd agree with ArgyllGran.

I read it as marasmus too.
