Occasional copy (birth certificate)

Hello, on the GRO website there are two entries for the same birth and both entries are identical both saying Occasional Copy: A. After googling "occasional copy", I think it means there has been an amendment on the birth certificate. If I wanted to apply for the birth certificate which one would I click, or would I have to order both, and if I did, would they be the same or show different information? Thank you.

Are the GRO refs the same?

They form the basis of the information required for ordering

Hello Erika, yes they are exactly the same. I had seen an example when googling where the first entry was as you would expect on the GRO and the second entry had occasional copy: A, but the two I am looking at are both exactly the same, both showing occasional copy. Thanks.

As I understand it an occasional copy is because the original entry was amended in some way after the certified copy was sent to the gro

When an entry has been amended the occasional copy has to be submitted to the GRO

When you get the cert you may well see the correction on it

You will only get the one cert which is the corrected copy that supersedes the original entry
