I am trying to find a marriage between Grace Alexandra Clayden and William John Reardon. Grace was born 1902 in Bishop Stortford, can find too many William Readrdons to pin that one down. I am going to order their birth certs, but need to make sure I have the right people before I order, so if I can find those 2 names that married, I am pretty sure theyre the right people. Looked everywhere and can find nothing. Any more experienced people give me a clue what to do please? |

You need to say exactly where you have looked.............which quarters' images on Ancestry have you viewed? Do you know if they had children? If so, when was the first one born? Reg |

I don't know if she is the first but the one I don know about is Marjory reardon, born 27 aug 1922 in southend essex I am using FTM 2006, using the searches with that on ancestry, which pulls up many names, scrolled thru those. Also freebmd, she is on there as jun 1902 which fits with what i know. familysearch*org was nothing |

www.familysearch.org is mainly of use for parish registers and doesn't have so many records for the 20th century. ancestry has 2 databases - freebmd which is transcribed indexes from 1837-1910 but is not complete and the complete index images, which have to be searched every quarter of every year page by page - you can't just put a name in. If you want any bmd event after about 1910 you have to do the long-winded searching. nell |

Without knowing which images you have viewed, it would be pointless for anyone to try to search, as most of the effort may well be duplicated. I know nothing of the FTM to which you refer, so don't know what it produces in the way of info. Have you viewed the images one by one on Ancestry? You haven't said whether the marriage produced children.........and if so, when. Reg |

Hi Sticky If you sign up with Anestry you can search the indexes for free. As has been said before there are two kinds The partial index and the complete (the complete index you have to search 1/4 by 1/4 but it takes you almost to present day). http://www.ancestry.)co.uk/search/rectype/vital/freebmd/bmd.aspx Take out bracket after full stop. You will probably have to register first to get the page. Suzanne |
