I am searching for the parents of James Purcell, born 1849...(birkenhead)...i recieved his marriage cert today and have his wife Millicent Mattinson...anyway, it says his father was John Purcell and occupation of father is 'coachman'... I know i have seen it on the census 'somewhere' that they were staff at 'Hampton Hall'... anyone have any idea where/what it is, if it still exists or how i can find the rest of his family on the census..I have access to Ancestry but cant read the census (hay fever eyes) and i'm dying to find out more! Hampton Hall was west of Worthen in South Shropshire. The same area as the village you have already mentioned. I say was, as I am not sure if it is still there http://archivemaps(.)com/mapco/lewis/lewis(.)htm remove brackets:-)) Wilf

Don't pay any attention to me, Toothie. I always go for a cheap laugh when I can't make a useful contribution. ;-)
