Hi I am hoping someone out there can give me a flash of inspiration. i have been going off on different branches of family tree because i am stuck with the main branch and today have decided to see for the last time if there is anything i can do to push on with it. The furthest back i have been able to go is my great grandparents because they came over from ireland and i know it is very hard to track down irish records. but if i could find out when they came over then that would be a start. they married in 1872 in bolton england so i would like to think they were here in 1871. they would have been in sepaerate families but if i could find them on another census that would be a help. i have their marriage cert and one of the witness has the same surname as my great grandad so i thought perhaps it could be a brother and i have tried looking for the combination but no luck. see below for info thanks linda |

Hi Lindy - Is Fulwood in the same sort of area? There is a Patrick O'Neill of the right sort of age there on the 1871, born Tuam, Ireland. Sorry, I can't view the image (I am at work!!) but when I go for View Other Family Members there are an awful lot of people as if he is maybe living in some sort of hostel. |

hi marie so if thats the carneys and i think it is because margarets father was john and he is on the 1881 census as being at patrick and margarets house as a lodger and his wife benery is down as head of house hold at their house this is because john was visiting his daughter . they lived just around the corner. i suppose its a leap of faith to suppose the margaret in 1871 who is a lodger is the same margaret as the one in 1861. so the carneys must have come over between 1854 and 1861 so that narrows that down i wish the o'neills were a bit easier to sort. love linda x |

cant find the carneys in 1871 - marie thats them in 1861 and the benery i found in 1881 was born in 1852 and not 1836 as in 1861 census and on the 1861 census there is no mention of a daughter born 1852 called benery. so iahve the wrong one in1881. can anyone find them in 1871 ? love linda x |
