Help needed to find name of Georges wife or children. George William Gates, I find he was a retired engineer, his date of death was May 1992, he died at The Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro and his death was registered by his Grandson Mark Allen who at the time was living in South Street, Redruth. Any help to trace Mark Allen, I have tried the telephone numbers for Mark Allen's in Redruth, Cornwall. If he was George's Grandson, George must have had a son or daughter any idea's how to trace them. George was born in Southwark London in 1914 and died 1992.

Hi Carol As the BMD indexes are still free on Ancestry, you could trawl through to find George's marriage, and then on to see if there were any other children besides Mark. Mandy

Youve probably thought of all this, but I guess your chap must have had a daughter who married this young mans father (an Allen)- is it worth trying to find the marriage? What probably in the late 50's/60's? (My dad was born 1914, but he married fairly late and didnt have children until after he returned from WW2). Is it worth writing to the addy in Redruth in case anyone knows where he went?

Ok surname is different so sounds like he had a daughter who married someone with the surname ALLEN.... have you checked for marriages? xx

Just another thought! If you have the address for Mark - could you do an electoral look up to see if he was living with his parents at the time?

If you read Louisa's story further down this page, it will tell of my trying to find him and why!

Have you checked to find out what sort of place was the address in Redruth? I'm just thinking that my son registered his great aunt's death in Southampton, where he was a student at the time. We, his family were living as usual in Kent. An advert to a newspaper in the Redruth area might find someone who remembers him.

Carol Just had a look on b4usearch*com and there are 4 M Allen's listed. May be worth a couple of phone calls? Snowdrops
