I suppose there may be other places called Wilton but here's info on Wilton registration office, looks as if it must be in Wiltshire so a long way from Merseyside Location Wilton Closed in 1936 and post July 1837 civil registers moved to Salisbury or Warminster |

The only Wilton I know is in Wiltshire and is famous for Wilton House, a stately home with a double cube room designed - I think - by Inigo Jones. Not near Liverpool but on the same side of the country. nell |

just to add, i have found [ i think!] g.grandads death cert in 1925 and it says he was 55, so it still doesn't add up!! perhaps he didn't know what year he was born eh? |

On my grandparents marriage certificate his age is 39 (he was actually 42) and her age is down as 28 (she was 23). I think they lied to make the 19 year age gap between them appear smaller. Kath. x |
