The Seller has emailed me these details. RE: Question for item #6626322175 - Holy Bible, Fine Binding/Leather, 1835. gc The Family Register says:- John Clarke Born 15th July 1835, Elizabeth Wiggott Guy Born October 20th, 1846, Jane Annie Clarke born March 6th 1868, George William Clarke born March 25th 1870, John Heather Clarke Born June 10th 1871. John Clarke & Elizabeth Wiggott Guy Married at Reform Church, Portland, 5th June 1867.. also Henry John Carter & Jane Annie Clarke married at Holy Trinity Church, Weymouth, 18th Feb 1890. Do they belong to you? |

Can anyone find the Clarke family on any Census? I'm trying to add a few names and see if anyone on GR has them in their tree but I'm struggling....... |

This could be Elizabeth Wiggott Guy on the 1861 census Elizabeth W Guy abt 1847 Weymouth, Dorset, England Daughter Portland Dorset Jane Guy abt 1810 Portland, Dorset, England Wife Portland Dorset William Guy abt 1813 Weymouth, Dorset, England Head Portland Dorset and on the 1871 census Elizabeth Clark with 2 small children. No husband listed though. Elizabeth Clark abt 1845 Stickland, Dorset, England Wife Weymouth Dorset Rose Clark abt 1871 Weymouth, Dorset, England Daughter Weymouth Dorset William Clark abt 1870 Shillingstone, Dorset, England Son Weymouth Dorset |

Looks like Elizabeth Clarke was a Matron in a prison. I have a hanger-on John CLARKE who was the second husband of my Gx3-g-mother - married Oct 1844. By 1881 they were running the White Horse Hotel in Melcombe Regis, Dorset (just at the mainland end of Portland), but they were in Sussex before that - Bognor Regis area.. Christine |
