I know that Lesley understood the instructions but I still can't access 1 the 1837..... When I find a name on BMD i can look at the original by clicking the thing to the right......but how do I find 1837 when the year is 1956 or so and not on free bmd ?? |

Sorry Suzanne.......I have Ancestry and can access the BMD... but I want to find a birth in 1856/7 but the Beta where I used to go has moved.....I thought it had been taken off but Loopy Lesley had the same problem and has understood the instructions from contributors to this board... but I still can't find 1957 Births |

1) Make sure you are on the c o, d o t, u k version of Ancestry 2) Go down the bottom of the Home Page to MORE COLLECTIONS UK & Ireland Parish and Probate Records England & Wales, BMD Index<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< and Search the complete images<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Then what happens? Merry |

Colin, the address Suzanne gave you has both the FreeBMD and the beta records. The FreeBMD indexes are in the second half of the page. You need to go to 'Search the Complete Indexes' in the first half of the page. |

No, you don't want SSDI (you're obviously looking at ancestry(.) com. Go to http://www.ancestry(.)co(.)uk (remove brackets) Click on 'England & Wales, BMD Index' at the bottom of the page. Then select births, marriages or deaths from 'Search the complete images' |

Colin what happens when you go to this: http://www.ancestry.)co.uk/search/rectype/vital/freebmd/bmd.aspx Dont forget to take out bracket! Once there click on births (Search the complete images) and enter name and the year (1957) to search and once a result comes up click on view image. Suzanne |

Success I went to the site mentioned by Mary from Italy....fine can use 1837 on the Beta system. I went back to my Ancestry via FTM and could not access that page Then on the Home page I pressed that little Ancestry UK thing right at the bottom of the page ( I thought that this was an advert )...........and that page mentioned by Mary appeared.................. May be just me ......but I had no idea it had gone elsewhere...I just thought that it had been removed. Thanks Suzanne............I tried a similar one on Loopy Lesleys thread but google brought up just Ancestry...... But I have it now and thank you to those who helped Colin |
