I have applied for a will, but was wondering I could do with another couple, how long ago must they have died can you get very recent ones and if so do you to prove why you want it ?? thanks ,and is the year of death enough, without the day and month. |

Once a person has died, then their Will becomes a Public Document, for obvious reasons. I have quite a few Wills and have never been asked for a reason. But mine have been mostly historic. However, it doesnt matter how recently the person died, anyone can (pay for) and see a Will, even if its just sheer nosiness. Olde Crone |

Currently the will will only become public domain if the person who died has assets over £5,000 and that does not include any assets that automatically transfer to spouse!! For instance - any home held in JOINT TENANCY will automatically pass to the spouse on death without inheritance tax applying!! But if its held in COMMON TENANCY then it is included in the will!! xx |

I don't think dead people care!! :O) If its a common man/woman's will then likelihood is they will just have left everything to their wife/husband!! So actually won't tell you a great deal. xx |

Wills appear in the public domain in order to prevent the fraudulent administration of someone's estate. If they were private documents, just think how easy it would be for someone to 'forget' to hand out a benefice to a distant cousin say, or the hated ex wife's children, or to deprive a Charity. Until very recently, many newspapers published details of people's Wills. Olde Crone |

thats why I am getting this one because I have been told my Uncle should have been the beneficiary he had no children and was not married to the woman who has inherited , saying she was his wife .He did not leave a will . |

Valerie If your uncle didn't make a Will, how can you apply for it? |

No, Valerie said she is applying for somebody else's will to see if that person left money to her uncle who didn't leave a will. Kate. |

I am applying for the Will made out by the person who left him the Estate , the woman he lived with who said she married him is still alive but my Uncle died a few years ago. |
