Somewhere around the three week mark or just a little quicker at the moment,it just depends if you are a little lucky or not. Just out of interest, does the district you interested in have a local office you can use that would be quicker? What area are you looking at? Glen |

Three weeks?! That seems like ages! I live about 10 miles North of Bristol - I have no idea if my town has an office or not - will have to look into it! Thanks for the tip! L |

Most are Bristol or Chipping Sodbury reg district - one from Long Ashton and one from Kidderminster. Now, of the 35 I need - which shall I go for? Decisions, decisions? Any thoughts on why it seems such a long delivery time? Can't still be a hangover from WDYTYA, surely? L |

Hi Lisa You can order certs from the office local to the event (or sometimes the county town covers the whole county, for example Lincoln covers most of Lincolnshire.) The certs cost no more than those from the GRO, and you can often get a scanned copy of the original document, but you may have to ask for it,otherwise they may handwrite or type the cert. See my thread 'local registry offices.....' A list of office addresses and phone numbers is available on Genuki,or just shout and i will see what i can find. Most local offices offer a turn round in a week or less. Glen |

i dont belive the tv programe made that much difference this last time around, my local library certanly did not have a huge influx of newbies this time around, i belive that because people can now search through hundreds of pounds worth of bmd indexs at 1837 prices for free on Ancestry, i think this is why we have to wait, i have ordered over 50 in the last couple of months and the reason there is a 15 working day wait not the tv program, i also think people look up other sources in the first few monthe so the back log would have been weeks after the programe, i think it is Ancestrys free BMDs to blame |
