Just to let everyone know, I have been to the records office today, and they are estimating 7 working days at the moment for certificates to arrive. I have booked a week off next week to do some more research, but I will be lucky if the certificates arrive by then! There was a gentleman in the que blaming the BBC for the delay! Regards Lindsey

I ordered some at the weekend but they were still estimating a 3 week despatch date :-( I am stuck behind that brickwall until they arrive!

Mine ordered online a couple of days ago were not due to arrive until 16 May. I'd be delighted if they arrive sooner! Claire

Also ordered at the Records Office yesterday but I was quoted 10 -14 days ! There is a bank holiday on Monday as well that will delay things further

I don't have a clue where this records office is that you can order certificates from - is it better than the GRO (General Register Office)? Or than local register offices? But anyway, Lindsey, if you really need the certificate(s) for next week, you can order them online from the GRO at http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/default.asp on 'priority despatch' and they should arrive the next working day if you order before 4pm. It does cost £23 per certificate that way, though. Kate.

There's been such a long wait I've been ordering direct from the local offices, they have been arriving in one working day which is brilliant! Just google them, eg cheshire BMD, and then look up the marriage/birth/death adn away you go :)

Sarah, some local BMD sites are brilliant, such as Cheshire, but in other areas there is no local BMD site at all! The UKBMD site at www.ukbmd.org.uk acts as a portal to them. Kate.

Ahh right, well if anyone is interested I've been using North Wales/Flint, Wigan and Leigh and Chester, who have been fab.

Thanks for the replies. I ordered my certificates at the Family Records Office in London, but the certificates are dispatched from Stockport ( I think??) I could have ordered them as a priority, but I ordered 6 and didnt want to pay the £23 each, so I am happy to wait really. I will spend my week off, working on my garden, if the rain doesnt ruin that! Lindsey
