How do you find out about old inns if.............

they don't exsist anymore.I found my grt grt grandmother in 1822 directory listed as victualler for a pub/inn.Have googled it -nothing Anyone know about how to find out about old inns any help as always greatly appreciated Kat |

Sometimes you can find the licenceing records. They had to renew the licence every year. The appropriate county record office would probably be the best place to find them. I have several publicans/beerhouse keepers in my tree and non of them show on Google or A2A but I have some of the licencing lists. Anne |

How do I find out the address? I only found the entry in Baines Directory and Gazeteer of 1822 for the area earlier on .I was actually looking in the area where she was married and this is all it gives in the directory where I found her Vict.Old Brown Cow Kirkheaton which is in Yorkshire Thanks for everyones help and info Kat |
