Hi In 1851 he was living with his uncle and aunt, Henry and Mary. It says he was 8yrs old so he must have been born 1842/ 43. I`ve checked all the births fom 1840 to 1844 but I can`t find him. Eileen Ive just found a birth which could be the one. Thomas Phillips b 1843 registered in Wolverhampton, the nearest town to Willenhall. The number is XV11 351

I know it's skipping a generation but from IGI Henry Philips parents appear to be Thomas and Mary. Thomas and Mary only had two other sons baptised at Willenhall, Isaac in 1804 and Joseph in 1799. Possibly one of these is the father. Unfortunately IGI hasn't got Willenhall marriages.

Joseph was living on the same street in 1851 as Henry, Lichfield Street, and they were both key makers. Joseph Philips abt 1801 Willenhall, Staffordshire, Head Mary Philips abt 1803 Willenhall, Staffordshire, Wife Lucy Philips abt 1835 Willenhall, Staffordshire, Daughter Thomas Philips abt 1838 Willenhall, Staffordshire, Son Henry Philips abt 1841 Willenhall, Staffordshire, Son Mary Philips abt 1843 Willenhall, Staffordshire, Daughter John Philips abt 1850 Willenhall, Staffordshire, Son Joseph and Mary already had a son called Thomas so I would guess that Isaac may have been the father of your Thomas and he had died?
